“ Brand: Irregular Choice „
I am a huge fan of the brand Irregular Choice, I think the shoes they make are so beautiful and are a statement in themselves, I love how I can wear a simple outfit and have the shoes be the bright bold and attractive element!
I bought this particular pair of shoes from the freestanding store in Brighton, they set me back £80 which is expensive, but I think totally worth it. The pair I bought were red with a polka dot design instead of the flower one pictured above, however they were the same style of shoe. I love that they are a cross between almost a low cut boot and a high heeled court style shoe. I wore mine as soon as I left the shop and despite owning Irregular Choice shoes before, I was still amazed at how comfortable they were and how effortless they felt to walk in. The shoes are clearly designed well to provide adequate cushioning in the right places on the feet, because I can wear these shoes for hours without pain, which makes them great for a night out!
The shoes do require some care however, they are not suitable in the rain (unless you purchase the patent leather versions), due to the fabric design. They can accumulate dirt easily if you wear them out in wet weather. I also find that if you wear them to death enough, they will also inevitably require re-heeling, however when you purchase a pair of shoes from Irregular Choice they come with spare heel pieces which you can have refitted on. This is great as it means you don't have to pay anything extra to buy the materials for them to be re-heeled with!
Overall I give this brand and this shoe 5/5, I adore them!
Irregular Choice Flick Flak Spat Shoe
Irregular choice shoes are fast becoming an expensive addiction of mine. Irregular Choice is a quirky brand that design and produce a selection of gorgeous and stand out shoes that make a strong fashion statement.
I own these in a bright, bold suede blue with blue floral details on the flipped over panel. I have seen them available in red and black and also in a patent material as well as suede. I like that they often do one style in a variety of colours and materials to allow you to find exactly what you would like.
I find these shoes are surprisingly comfortable to wear, they have quite a high but because they are well made and well fitted they don't rub in any of the wrong places. The shoes both look and feel like a quality product. Although these are a fashion shoe, and are unfortunately not made for durability these have remained looking good with frequent (but far from daily) use.
These are mostly made of a rich blue suede material and I do tend to wear them mostly in the summer when there is less chance of having to walk around in bad weather. The flap (the floral patterned section) is lovely decorated with matching blue tones with red flowers. There is a bit of give in the shoes when they are on, which means that when you wear them they are a better fit and more comfortable.
The heel is a typical stiletto heel, but with the attention to detail that the blue suede material is carried down to the ground. The bottom of the heel as with most of all fashion shoes will deteriorate quite quickly because it is just plastic, but for a small price I tend to get mine replaced with a metal stud to increase the longevity of the shoe.
The quirky little touches and attention to detail is part of the reason I like these shoes so much, this pair is no exception. The sole has been decorated in a slightly different floral design that again as with most of the Irregular Choice shoes shows a glimpse of colour as you walk. These surfaces of course get worn down but even after wearing my shoes quite a bit you can still clearly see the design. The inside of the shoes is also decorated in a nice blue and poka dot material, which is nice when on display in my wardrobe.
These are great to wear with jeans or trousers and do add a splash of colour to any outfit. Nearly every time that I have worn these out some one has complimented on them. These Irregular Choice shoes have also started many a shoe related conversation.
These typically retail for around £69.99 but I have seen them much cheaper on places like Amazon depending if your size is available. These are expensive but they are also fabulous and for the shoe lovers out there I think that these are worth every penny. I will hold my hand up and admit that I own quite a few pairs of high heels that hardly ever see the light of day, but these are one of the lucky pairs that I wear with regularity, as they can be dressed down or dressed up depending upon the rest of your outfit.
These shoes get a full five out of five stars from me, in fact, I would love to have enough spare cash to buy these in black or perhaps the little bit funkier red shade. These are really nice enough that I would consider owning the same shoe in different shades.
Just as an afterthought as with a few of the Irregular Choice shoes there is also a matching bag. I don't own it but I have looked at it and as with the shoes it does look lovely (and retails for around £35).
Irregular Choice is a fairly new brand, it was launched in 1999 with the hope of nurturing individuality and embracing the irregular! You can find the shoes online at the Irregular Choice website, as well as Schuh (both the stores and online) and amazon.co.uk (there is currently a half price sale on, fill your boots!) Irregular choice is a very fun brand, the shoes are often very vibrant and colourful and sometimes utterly bizarre! But they are never boring.
These 'flick flak' shoes are my second pair of Irregular choice shoes and I love them already. The detail is amazing. There is the trademark colourful, patterned sole of the shoe and the lining on the inside is black with cute pink polka dots. You almost don't want to wear them and just put them on display for people to admire! The shoes are black suede with a patterned material over the front (folded), attached with buttons (patterned to match the material). The toe is rounded and very slightly upturned.
The material is sown onto the shoe down one side so you can't take off the fabric if you just wanted to wear normal black shoes. But trust me, you won't want to wear ordinary black shoes after trying these! The pattern is lovely, there's something a little 70's about the style of the flowers and they are predominantly pink but there is white, yellow and red within the pattern. I should say to see the shoes in their best light, have a look on Amazon or Schuh, oddly on the Irregular Choice website the photo makes the shoes look really dull and doesn't do them justice at all.
Now for the important bit: Are these comfortable? Lordy yes! The heel is 9 cm so you get a bit of height but they won't break your neck! If like me you are crap in heels then fear not, for these are very easy to walk in and very comfortable.
Irregular choice are a great brand full of fun, but some styles a tad too wacky for me. (Some have toy dolls and pom poms dangling from them!) but if you want something a little different that has the wow factor I'd suggest giving them a try. I bought the flick flak shoe from Amazon for half price at £35 which is a great bargain! You can expect to pay from around £50 for heels at the lowest and they go up to around £70 though of course there are some styles that are closer to the £100 mark. Personally I think they are good quality shoes that do usually justify the price, but I would recommend taking advantage of Amazon's half price sale because at £35 these are a steal.
