Advantages: Comfortable, reasonable price, lots of colours to choose from.
Disadvantages: I want to buy them in every shade!
Juju jelly shoes are a bit of a classic. I'm sure you will remember seeing them everywhere in the 80's and 90's - I definitely remember wearing them to school and thinking they were super cool! I'm fairly certain that my first pair were the clear, glittery ones; they may have even had a heel, and I really loved them.
As it is coming up to Summer time, I thought I would try and hunt some down online, and after a quick search I found the Juju website. The website is located here - http://www.jujushoes.co.uk/ if you were looking for a little more information about the company's background and heritage.
I actually bought mine on Amazon from a seller called Mr Shoes, who also have their own independent website. I chose the shimmery grey version (no heel) which I thought would be a quirky take on the classic. I find these shoes to be absolutely adorable, they have a little white buckle, and they are fairly opaque. They only tend to become slightly transparent in direct sunlight. They are of course made out of soft jelly-like plastic, which I have found to be a lot more comfortable that I first imagined! I have worn them out a couple of times, and have not had any problems with blisters, as I so often do with sandals. I probably wouldn't advise these for any extended walking activity, because after walking flat out for a couple of hours, the bottoms of my feet started to get a little sore. I might actually invest in some gel in-soles to make these sandals extra comfortable.
These particular flat jelly shoes cost £14.99 from Amazon, and the shipping was around £4.00, so not bad in total. I know they are also available on Ebay from the same seller. Topshop are also selling their own version, but I think they cost £16.
There are lots of cute colours to choose from including, lemon yellow, purple, mint, clear glittery, and of course these grey ones. The heeled variety come in a whole host of sorbet colours which would be perfect for Summer, I especially like the pale pink and peach versions.
The great thing about these shoes is that because they are made out of plastic, you can wear them in the water! Perfect for making sure you don't cut your feet on any rocks or stones. I have read a couple of reviews which state that wearing them in the sea water doesn't cause any deterioration to the colour of the shoes, which is a bonus!
I would definitely recommend these sandals for cute, nostalgic Summer wear. I know they are probably not for everyone, but I remember them fondly, so I absolutely love mine!
Summary: Lovely retro jelly shoes ideal for warm weather and holidays.
