“ Brand: Keds / Type: Flats „
I do a lot of walking about during the day and I like to wear flat comfortable shoes. But just because they're practical doesn't mean they can't be cute too! I found these gorgeous shoes when I was on holiday in America, and they are made by American company Keds. You can find suppliers in the UK fairly easily by searching on google, and I have seen them in high street shoe shops a couple of times. These Eleanor flats cost me in the region of $30.00, which worked out to about £18.00 at the time I believe. Being marked with US sizes, I bought the 9.5 size, which works out to a UK size 7.
To look at, the shoes are funky and playful, and have an interesting design. The main material of the shoe is a green striped fabric, and over this is what looks like a black and white chequered design. In fact if you look closer, the squares are actually pandas! At the back of the shoe there are also some black Chinese knot decorations to finish off the look. I was smitten with the fun design and I love the cute little pandas. I wasn't sure how versatile green shoes would be, but I ended up wearing them all the time. They did go with most of my outfits and provided an easy way to brighten up my look without having a large amount of colour in my clothes.
The shoes were really well made and fit perfectly to my feet without slipping like some flats can do. The base of the shoes is made of a thick rubber sole which is hardwearing and gives a good grip when walking. The inner sole is slightly cushioned and padded so they are comfortable to wear. I bought them mainly with the idea of wearing for days out on the weekend etc when I would be walking around for the majority of the day, but they are so nice to wear that I started wearing them every day to work as well.
The upper part of the show is made from stiff fabric that holds in place but it does have a little bit of give and didn't rub against my feet at all. Unfortunately it's not fully waterproof, and I did spend an awful afternoon squelching round the streets of Paris with soaking wet feet! (Can you believe that I could not find anywhere to buy a temporary replacement pair of shoes?!). The shoes lasted me for a full 18 months before they started to show any real signs of wear, and then the back of the sole had started to wear down through usage. Getting closer to the 2 year mark and they were no longer really wearable as the wear and tear was a bit too much and they were no longer in a very good condition. But for the amount of use they received I am very impressed.
Completely loved the look and feel of these shoes and would buy them again. They also come in a cute owl pattern if you don't like pandas!
