“ Brand: Kurt Geiger / Type: High Heels „
Now that the new 2011 collection from Kurt Geiger has come into the stores (and on the website) I have of course added my favourites to my wish list and finally after receiving a long over due payment from a debtor I have treated myself and added to my rather large shoe collection. Yes, I probably should have stuck the money straight in the bank (most of it did get put into a bank account!) but shoes were calling my name!
One pair that were added to my wish list as soon as they came available were a pair called Hermione. I instantly wanted them but due to their price I waited patiently...very patiently until my payment came in. Hermione come in either grey or salmon. I opted for the grey as I'm not a fan of salmon coloured shoes and also the grey is more versatile even though in the picture they have a more brown tinge to them than grey.
What KG by Kurt Geiger say:
"KG by Kurt Geiger Hermione is a sling-back court with chunky platform. Featuring decorative cut-out sections on the upper adorned with gem embellishment, these will add a touch of sparkle to your outfit!"
Hermione is classed as an evening shoe although I have now worn them twice to two seminars which my company has held on an evening. So although they are a little dressy they are also incredibly smart and for me personally I find them very suitable for work functions. Especially when trying to add a little glamour to a plain, boring suit!
The shoes are made from leather with a suede effect and as soon as I got them out of their box the leather was soft and smooth. They don't feel tight once on and there is plenty of room for your feet, but the leather does stretch a little but not too much so they become loose around your feet. I think if you are in between sizes it would be best to go into store and try them on as leather does stretch and you may end up with a pair of shoes far too big for you. Because they are made of leather I would suggest using a suitable leather protector in order to keep them in great condition.
Hermione are slingbacks and the strap which goes around your ankle/ heel is also made of leather and fastens with a little silver buckle. There are quite a few holes in the strap so you can get the tightness or looseness that you require - just remember that again the leather strap will stretch so you may end up using several different holes. Try not to use the same hole every time you wear them as this can rip the leather after time.
The detail of the shoes is what first attracted me to them. Around the front of the shoe there are pear shaped cut out holes which are all the way round the top of the shoe. In between these delicate shapes are small clear gems which add a little glamour to these shoes. The gems are stuck onto the shoe and do seem tightly stuck on the shoe. However, because gems can just suddenly pop off it is important that you wear these with care and don't abuse them! There are just enough gems to add some extra detail to the shoes without making them look cheap.
The heel height of the shoes is approximately 120mm which for me is quite a decent height and one that I feel comfortable walking in. There is a substantially platform which is just over 1cm which does take a little height off the heel so you don't feel like you are walking in such high shoes. The heel is a stiletto heel but doesn't feel overly thin when you are wearing them, they will however need the heel tip replacing a lot more often than say a wedge shoe but if you only wear these for evenings and special occasions then the heel will not need replacing as often.
The lining of the shoe is tan in colour and made from a synthetic material. There is a little padding in the lining which is nice for your feet as it adds just a little comfort which is certainly needed if you are wearing them for quite a while. They have a lovely round toe which provides enough room for your toes without crushing them.
I've only worn my pair a few times now and mainly to evening functions for work as generally we go for drinks after the seminar and it is nice to make the effort and as I said above these shoes add a little glamour to a work suit! I found these incredibly comfortable the first time I wore them. They haven't rubbed or caused any redness although I did find that I did the strap up a little too tight which did make it dig into my heel a little but that was due to my own mistake and nothing to do with the shoe! The grey suede leather does need a little care as any liquid spilling on them will stain so you do have to wear them with caution, they are certainly not winter weather shoes!
I'm a big fan of KG shoes and these certainly haven't let me down and I am very happy with my purchase. They are comfortable, easy to walk in, they make my feet feel very secure when I am walking in them and they look great on the feet!
