A lovely pair of shoes for events and special occasions

Last weekend I attended a christening which was my first proper outing since having my daughter three weeks ago. I wanted an outfit which would make me feel special for the day as recovering from a caesarean doesn't make you feel like a million dollars! My partner and I spent a lovely day in Cambridge (after registering our daughter's birth) shopping. I was able to buy a lovely cream dress which fortunately was loose enough around the wound but still was girly with a little bit of glam. All I needed was shoes! Not that I needed another pair but as Cambridge has a Kurt Geiger store I had to have a look!

I wasn't intending to buy a pair of shoes but after having a look at their new shoes which they had only just received it was hard not to get my purse out! In the end after much deliberation I decided to buy a pair of shoes as they really did suit my dress perfectly! The shoes I went for are called Isadora and they come in either taupe or black. I opted for the taupe version which I thought went well with my dress.

      What KG say:

"KG by Kurt Geiger Isadora is a gorgeous satin court with large bow and metallic stud detailing. Girly glamour with a punk edge twist, these are the ultimate party shoe!"

Isadora are part of the KG for Kurt Geiger range and the KG shoes tend to be slightly cheaper than the main Kurt Geiger shoes but they do of course have a high price tag. Isadora are classed as an evening shoe and I would have to agree with this as I wouldn't really wear them during the day (unless going to an event) or to work so they will get pretty limited use.

The main body of the shoe is made of fabric with a soft satin feel to it which makes a nice change for me as most of my shoes are leather. The fabric is soft but still quite rigid in order for the shoe to maintain its shape. The shoe has small silver stud detailing all over the shoe which is what I really like about the shoes as the studs give the shoes a bit of an edge. From a distance the silver studs actually give the impression of little pearls which is nice. The shoes have a lovely round toe and is complete with a stud detailed bow which is in the same fabric as the shoe.

The heel of the shoe is 100mm (10cm) and is a typical stiletto heel and therefore the tip of the heel will need to be replaced more often than say a cone heel as the heel covers such a small surface area. However, as these are evening shoes they won't be worn as often and therefore heel tip replacement won't be needed that often. The heel is covered in the same satin type fabric of the shoe and is again studded. Care should be taken where you are walking in these shoes so the heel isn't ruined.

I wore these shoes the day I bought them, just around the house to try and break them in as I didn't want to be in any discomfort at the christening. The round toe of the shoes provides enough room for your toes no to be crushed together. There is slight padding in the heel and footbed areas of the shoe to keep your feet comfortable. The fabric of the shoe remains rigid but it isn't too tough on your feet and although they have enough give they don't bend out of shape.

At the christening and I was on my feet for quite considerable time and to my pleasure the shoes didn't rub whatsoever. I was however pleased to get them off by the end of the day and I did notice that I had a red indentation at the back of my heel which although wasn't sore at the time it was a bit sore the next day but the shoes didn't give me blisters or cut into my skin which was more important as it was the first time I had worn heels and I am sure my feet are still slightly swollen! Overall, I think whatever pair of shoes I had worn would have caused me some discomfort towards the end of the day.

Isadora are available from all Kurt Geiger stockists such as John Lewis or even the Kurt Geiger store! They are also available online - from the Kurt Geiger website postage and packaging is £3.99 but returns are free should you not like them etc. Now for the pricey part! Isadora will set you back £100.00 which is slightly expensive and no doubt there are similar shoes around for a cheaper price but the shoes are very well made and will no doubt last for quite some considerable time.
