“ Brand: Kurt Geiger „
When my fiancés dad said his firm was holding a very posh evening with a meal and music and that he had treated us to tickets my thoughts immediately went to these shoes which I had had my eye on for a little while. Like most of us ladies I love shoes. They can "make or break" an outfit and I had the perfect dress that these shoes would definitely "make".
The shoes I am talking about are the Kurt Geiger Juno Platform Heel Shoes. I bought mine from the Kurt Geiger website. They originally were £140.00 but I got mine for approximately half this in the sale.
The shoes are definitely for evenings, they are made from a black satin material and have sparkly crystals around all the edges of the shoes. The crystals are mainly clear with a few black ones. The shoes have a peep toe once again outlined with crystals.
Its the front of these shoes that I love though. They come quite high up the front of the foot giving them a slight shoe/ boot appearance and I absolutely love this look. The shoes actually lace up with thickish black ribbon. They have 3 loops which the ribbon threads through, and you simply tie a bow to secure the shoe on your foot. Where the ribbon pulls the shoe together there is a cut out so the whole of your foot is not en cased in the front of the shoe, this gives them more of an evening look I think. There are 3 cut outs up the front of the foot each outlined with the crystals I mentioned.
These shoes do have a high heel, 6 inches! I nearly always wear heels as I'm short and my fiancé is well over 6 foot but this is high even for me. The height is taken of slightly by a small platform sole but to be honest it doesn't make much difference. I was concerned about the platform as it doesn't cover the whole of the sole and to be honest looks as if it could make you over balance but I needn't have worried it was fine and didn't feel any different to regular platform soles.
The inner of the shoe is a brown colour and just has KG BY KURT GREIGER written in them. The soles are slightly padded too so this does help with the height of the heel.
I've worn my shoes twice now, they are comfortable enough and the peep toe doesn't rub which I find can sometimes be a problem. I cant say I would like to walk too far in them as the heel is just too high but for an evening out which requires some standing, a bit of dancing and mainly sitting they are perfect.
These also can be bought in a gorgeous pale pink, I did consider them for my bridesmaids when I get married this year but I decided against it purely because of the heel height and all the standing around you do at a wedding.
Over all I recommend these shoes 100%, they are glamorous, pretty and despite the heel they are actually comfortable. Although they are very trendy at the moment they do have a slight old fashioned look to them the way they lace up the front, but they look fabulous and are well worth the money I paid for them.
As I said I got mine on line and I ordered a size 6, 39 euro and they fitted perfectly.
I really am a sucker for shoes and I really can't help it! I have all sorts of shoes ranging from ballet pumps to Hunter wellies! I really do have a varied range. Even though I spend a lot of my time out with the horses in all sorts of weather I am a typical girly girl, I love getting dressed up and going out for a night with friends or my partner. I have a big luxury where my wardrobe is added to every month with a few new pairs of shoes. I work for my partner as well as my main job and he pays me in shoes which I can't complain about! However, I do buy my own and my latest pair to add to the collection are incredibly special!
I have an eye for a bargain and after having a check on Kurt Geigers website I came across a beautiful pair of shoes which were reduced by nearly 50%! I couldn't believe it and thought that they'd have run out of my size but upon checking they had a wide range of sizes left so without hesitation I ordered a pair. My nearest KG store is Cambridge so £3.99 for postage and packaging was a lot cheaper than driving the 65 miles!
The magnificent pair of shoes in question is Juno by KG for Kurt Geiger. As soon as I saw them on the website I knew I had to have them as they look so different to anything I had seen. There was a purpose for me to browse shoes online as I am attending a wedding in November and I'm wearing a charcoal dress and thought these would go perfectly. Juno comes in either black or pink with colour co-ordinated plastic jewels (if only they were real!).
What KG say about the shoes:
"KG by Kurt Geiger Juno is a pretty satin evening shoe with dazzling jewel detailing and thick ribbon laces. This eye catching style will ensure you stand out, keep the rest of your outfit simple and make these the focal point!"
Juno are made for an evening occasion they are just far too fabulous to wear to a dull, boring office! They are made from a satin type fabric material as is the lining which is synthetic so it is best not to get these damp or wet! The "jewels" are plastic and housed in a silver casing which I think can be quite fragile. The jewels outline the shoe going up round the heel and round the peep toe as well as the cut outs which cover the front of your foot. The jewels are mixture of clear, grey and dark grey which go well with the black satin type fabric. The shoes are tied with a lovely thick black ribbon which in my opinion make these shoes quite sexy! The heel is quite slim and measures around 12cm which is quite high but the platform which is about 1cm balances the heel out somewhat. The platform is covered in the same synthetic fabric as the actual shoe. Just to note that the platform is smaller than the actual sole of the shoe which can cause you to loose your balance if your not used to walking in platforms, let alone wearing a shoe with a smaller platform than the sole of the shoe!
As soon as my parcel arrived from KG I couldn't wear to try these on. Fortunately my sizing was accurate and they fitted perfectly with just a little room to move in! Although I actually bought these for a wedding I actually wore them to a christening last week which was a bit last minute and I did feel quite special wearing them! I did pack in my bag the gel inserts just in case they hurt my feet and I was glad I brought them as after a few hours of standing around and walking my feet were a tad sore, may be I should of worn tights! The heel height for me is actually quite high but I found that it wasn't as bad as I thought due to the platform which I think is perfectly suited to this shoe. The footbed of the shoe is slightly padded which does make the shoes comfortable but I should I worn them in prior to going out in them. What I do worry about is if one of the jewels comes out of it's casing as I do wonder how secure they are.
These shoes are incredibly versatile as they suit dresses, skirts and skinny jeans but they are definitely for evening wear as there is just too much bling for a day shopping! I have no doubt that with wearing them a few times they will be "broken in" and be much more comfortable to wear. One good thing is the size of the peep toe as it is quite wide enabling your toes to actually show! There is nothing worse than having a small peep toe and your toes end up getting cramped together. The thick ribbon is like a satin material which you do have to keep tightening as its quite soft but this is hardly an issue!
It is a shame that these shoes proved quite uncomfortable after a few hours but I am positive that after further wear they will become a joy to wear! These shoes are simply gorgeous and I would definitely recommend them to any woman looking for a bit of glamour and bling!
They are currently on the Kurt Geiger website for a reduced price of £79.00. The original price is £140.00. They are still fully priced at £140.00 on the ASOS website so if you want a pair I'd go direct to Kurt Geiger where they charge a mere £3.99 for postage and packaging and should you not like them or you have the wrong size etc the KG website doesn't charge for returns so it is free!
