Sparkly sandals for those that don't like heels.

      KG by Kurt Geiger Love
My mum hates heels and she always avoids them. I don't know why she hates them so much (I mean apart from the pain). So when we had to go to an Indian wedding and she realised that she had no shoes to wear I decided to get a pair for her. She isn't shoe mad like me and I would never tell her how much I spend on some shoes!

With Indian clothes the embroidery is either gold or silver and so jewellery should generally match. At least that is how I decide which jewellery to wear. This is why I decided to look for a gold or silver coloured sandals as generally that is the colour that is worn with and Indian outfit. I always wear silver or gold shoes. Because I Indian outfits in so many different colours I can't wear the same colour shoes as I would have way too many. Also the colour won't necessarily match completely.

Kurt Geiger is an expensive place to shop but I love their shoes. The designs of their shoes and the quality means that I occasionally shop there to get shoes for special occasions or for work. As it was the winter sales I thought it was worth having a look.

This is when I came across these beautiful gold embroidered sandals. The first thing that struck me was the colour which wasn't matt but it wasn't metallic either, it is a bit of both. The embroidered part of the sandals are simple yet pretty. It's not over the top which is important as my mum doesn't have a very extravagant style. They have a sort of 1cm heel that is quite large (surface area) so they don't look like flip flops. I would definitely wear them if they had a 3 inch heel.

They were £40 and although it may seem expensive for a pair of what look like flip flops they where half price. I didn't tell my mum how much it cost because she would have made me give them back but I thought she deserved to have at least one pair of shoes for going out. These are quality sandals and they should last for a few years. I personally would not wear them on holiday because the embroidery is quite heavy in design and I would want something lighter if I was wearing it on holiday on a beach. I do think that they would be good for the evening.

Flip flops with a little bit of bling!

When we finally booked our long awaited holiday in December I was incredibly excited. However, a thought soon dawned on me - I hadn't been on a proper beach holiday for about two years, choosing to opt for several short breaks throughout the year and I therefore didn't have much in the way of beach type clothing including footwear apart from my Havianas I didn't have any other flip flops or anything suitable for evenings out. So the search was on.

My usual shoe store is Kurt Geiger (the website not store) and from the beginning of December they have had a sale on which has been great and I have spoilt myself with far too many pairs of shoes but what I was looking for on this occasions was flip flops but a pair I could wear during the day and on the evening as well with the evenings still being around 22° I wasn't going to wearing boots or my Uggs on an evening!

I headed straight to the sale section of the website and came across a gorgeous pair of flip flops called Love. I instantly liked them because they would be great for day and night which is just what I wanted. Love are made by KG which is another company owned by Kurt Geiger.

        What KG say about Love:

"KG by Kurt Geiger Love is a glamorous toe-thong sandal. With its decorative beaded detail to the instep these are perfect for day to night summer styling."

What really attracted me to Love was the gold diamante detailing which is almost like a woven effect to create a lovely shape which lies flat across the front of your foot. The diamantes are secure on the gold fabric and throughout the entirety of my holiday I didn't have one come loose and fall off which is great as sometimes shoes with beaded detail or similar they can come loose and come off which ruins the detail of the shoes. The straps which come down to secure the diamante detailing is gold leather and again is done in a way to give a woven affect. It is nice that the diamante detailing is only on the front of the flip flop and not all the way down the sides.

Love are a thong type flip flop and I found that they were incredibly comfortable. The upper part of the flip flop are made of leather which is soft so it bends well with your foot and does rub which can sometimes be a pain especially if you are walking in them for a long time. The leather even though soft still manages to keep its shape and as I wore them for quite a lot of my holiday these were really put to the test! As you would expect there is no padding to the footbed and heel areas of the flip flops and the lining is made from a synthetic material which is the same colour gold as the leather which is nice.

As you can see from the picture there is a very small heel to Love which is nice as it makes them a bit more classier than your average flip flop which is great as they do look nice on an evening out. As you can expect there is no support with flip flops and you won't get any with Love. They are a simple thong type flip flop with gorgeous diamante detail which isn't over the top but just enough to be able to wear during the day and then getting dressed up for an evening out.

I wore these flip flops for quite a lot of my holiday and they never rubbed me in the slightest. There is enough room between your foot and the diamante detail for your foot to move freely, so it doesn't rub directly onto your foot which is great as I can imagine that it would rub if it laid flat against your foot. The straps that come down the sides of your foot don't rub either and do loosen slightly with wear but it is nice that they help keep your foot in the flip flops! I never had a problem with these whatsoever and I found them very comfortable. They never rubbed or caused any problems. What is great and I've said it above is that they are suitable for more than just one occasion as they can be worn during the day through to the evening and will be glam enough for an evening out.

Love are only available in gold and can be purchased in the sale at Kurt Geiger. They originally retailed at £85.00 and they are now being sold at £39.00. I personally wouldn't have paid the full price for a pair of flip flops but the sale price is a lot better. They come in sizes 3 to 8 but they are selling quick.

A gorgeous, glamorous flip flop which is perfect for any time of the day. A definite recommendation from me for this summer holidays!
