Kicker Ladies Classic Boot
Advantages: Comfortable, long lasting
Disadvantages: A bit chavy
This is a pair of boots I have owned for about nine years now. I know that I've had them this long as my ex boyfriend bought them for me a few months before we broke up which is probably why I don't really wear them much anymore. I have the pink suede pair and my husband now hates them and I also think the look is a bit chavy, dare I say it but they are a really comfortable pair of boots and if I could wear them more I probably would. I probably wear these about once or twice a year when my hubbie is not around and when I wear a certain pair of jeans but that is it really.
I think the history of these boots is quite interesting so I will quote an article I read, "On the French scene in 1970, Daniel Raufast came across a poster advertising the musical Hair. Interested by all the barefooted youngsters wearing jeans, he developed a new shoe concept which he believed to be more compatible with the blue-jean generation. The designer Jacques Chevallereau then created the first 'jean boot'. This new shoe was very different: the use of nubuck; shapes that looked more like short boots than regular shoes; tough crepe soles made with natural rubber, eyelets, contrast stitching, panels and appliqués all obviously referencing denim. The success was such that, within one season, Kickers production capacity grew from 300 to 12,000 pairs per month. Immediately successful in France, then Germany, by 1974, Kickers were selling in over 70 countries."
I will now describe my pink suede boots that I have. Like the above says these are quite short ankle boots and hit just around the ankle. The portion that comes up around the ankle is quite flexible and so they fit well around this area. They have thick rope style laces which are quite short when you tie them which I like as then you are not left with a lot of laces once you have tied your loops.
The sole of this boot is really quite thick and has lots of grooves in it and it is extremely comfortable. They give you quite a bit of bounce when you are walking in them and you can really walk for hours in these boots. On each side of the boot is a little tag, one green and one red that says Kickers on them so you know you have an authentic pair of shoes. These shoes ahve worn really well. Obviously I don't wear them all the time but they have hardly rubbed on the sole at all and the fabric of the boot is still nice and clean. I had a friend at school that worn a pair of these literally every day for the whole five years of high school they lasted that long so I think when you invest in these boots you make a good investment for the future. They are quite expensive, at around £70 a pair but do last, I just wish perhaps I didn't get mine in pink and bought a less chavy coloured pair!!
