Matalan Slouch Slipper Boots
Advantages: Very comfortable - Great value - Pretty design - Robust materials...
Disadvantages: None whatsoever..
One of the pairs I purchased on this occasion was the "Matalan Slouch Slipper Boots." I paid only £6 for my pair of slipper boots which I thought was a very reasonable price offering good value for money. I know from experience that Matalan slippers are generally quite well-made and last well, so I was really more than happy to pay this price for my slipper boots.
These particular slippers are in a boot shape of course, but made of completely soft fabric so are perfectly comfortable for wearing around the house. The outer fabric is made of a beautiful 'furry' material that gives the slipper boots a really soft, snuggly appearance and makes them look really comfortable and warm - ideal for the cold winter months then! Their furry fabric and snug appearance is what enticed me to purchase the boots in the first place, and I'm extremely glad that I did!
The boots I purchased are the pair shown in the top of the Dooyoo page here, being a sort of 'biscuit' or pale mink/beige-like colour. I do believe that the boots are available in a cream-like colour too, but this option was not available in store at the time of my purchase, and I only know of this option as I have seen it on the Matalan website. To be perfectly honest, I would have chosen my pale beige boots even if both options HAD been available in store, as I just find that cream or white slippers are not as practical as others that have a darker tone and colour. This is down to personal choice of course, but it may be worth noting that two colours are available, nevertheless.
The fabric of the boots is entirely furry, giving them a beautiful soft feel that is entirely comfortable and so perfectly suited to lounging around the house. I find too that the furry fabric is really warm and this makes the boots ideal for my own needs as I am very susceptible to the cold, and need to wrap up to stay warm, even though I stay in a centrally-heated house. The snuggly boots have been completely warm and snug on my frozen tootsies recently, which is a pleasant change, I have to say!
I find the detail of the slipper boots to be quite pretty - surprisingly so, given the appearance of alternative pairs of slipper boots that I own are quite 'clumsy' or bulky in comparison. The fur-like fabric is thick but does not seem to create any sort of excess 'pile' that falls all over my dark-coloured carpets. This would be a highly annoying flaw, so I do think it is worth mentioning that this is nowhere to be found with the Matalan boots. The fur-like fabric has a sort of 'rosebud' detail that appears upon the textured outer layer of the fur's surface which is quite hard to describe, but basically just adds a pretty feminine look to the whole boot. As a final little feminine touch, there is a small bow made of satin-like ribbon material on each of the boots' outer sides, and this is presented in the same colour as the boots - so, a mink/beige -type shade in the case of my own boots, and an off-white shade (or so it looks on the Matalan website) on the cream version of the boots. Located in the centre of the satin bow is a lovely sparkly stone, similar to a diamante.
The whole appearance and look of the boots is really pretty and I do think they are suited to a whole range of age groups, as there is nothing particularly 'young' about this style, nor are they too old-fashioned or at all frumpy. Another plus point then, for being much more versatile than other styles of slipper.
The slipper boots have a generously-sized rounded toe and I feel this provides plenty of room for my feet inside. I don't like wearing slippers that feel tight as this is less comfortable and of course the whole point of wearing slippers in the first place is to keep my feet warm and comfortable. I opted to buy my slippers in a size larger than I would normally take so I have ample room inside for wearing thick socks if I chose to do so, and this has worked perfectly for me. Whilst I am on the subject of sizing, I can confirm that the Matalan Slipper Boots are available in UK sizes 3 to 8 and the price is the same, irrespective of how large your chose size is.
The sole of the boots is very padded, which adds to the comfortable feel and design, of course. These padded soles are very comfortable to walk on and certainly, my feet feel supported when wearing the boots. On the outer sole the surface is covered with a pattern of raised 'dots' that provide a little grip on wooden or tiled floors. I know that some consumers prefer to have slippers with a harder sole than this, but I find these to be much heavier to wear and this detracts from the comfort of the padded sole for my own tastes. The sole of the Matalan boots has provided enough 'grip' for me to walk comfortable on any floored surface, including polished wooden floors, without any incidents of slipping or stumbling.
The boots are perfectly suitable for washing in the machine, and I have done this on several occasions now, with no damage occurring to either the boots' fabric or their shape and design. I have chosen to pop the boots into a cotton pillowcase on occasion, mainly because I was a bit concerned about the furry fabric loosing some of its 'pile' on the first couple of occasions that they were washed. I have, however, also washed the boots without them undergoing this preventative measure, and they suffered nothing in the way of excessive wear or tear, so I do feel they are really robust and practical..... Rather surprising, given the soft and completely luxurious feel of the furry fabric. This reinforces the point I made earlier about the slippers being of a rather high quality, in my opinion, and I do feel they are much more robust than other slippers I have purchased from alternative retailers in the past.
I would wholeheartedly recommend the Matalan Slouch Slipper Boots and fully intend to purchase myself a second pair when I am next shopping in store. They would make the ideal Christmas gift for someone special in my opinion, and are completely practical and surprisingly robust. I have nothing negative to report whatsoever and they come with my full recommendation, together with top marks in the product rating score, as a result.
The Slouch Slipper Boots are available in store in branches of Matalan, or you can purchase online at www.matalan.co.uk where postage costs should be added to the £6 purchase price.
Summary: Lovely comfortable slipper boots from Matalan... highly recommended!
