When my friends brought me a ticket to Reading Festival earlier in the year for my birthday, I couldn't wait to get shopping for my new festical wardrobe (which is a must have!). Due to the fact Reading fest is always set to be rain filled, muddy, messy and incredibly fun - I had to invest in some wellies as I didn't have any.
I've brought Primark wellies before and they weren't up to much, I know that Matalan is a lot better quality for only a fraction of the price so I thought it was worth a shot. On my trip, I saw these lovely striped wellies that cost me only £12 which I loved!
The wellies have the groves on the bottom which make for better grip to the floor so you do not slip about in mud or snow. The boots are striped with various colours and are thick rubber (but not thick enough to last for a long time). I love that there is so many colours as it means the wellies go with almost every outfit.
I brought my wellies in a size 6 which is a size bigger, this was purely so I could wear thick socks underneath so my feet stayed warm. They are quite hard to get on but so are all wellies so I didn't see this as an issue.
Are the wellies comfortable? yes a million times! I usually hate wellies as they feel really weird to walk in, although I loved these because they were really comfortable - it was like walking round in a pair of slippers (ish). I wouldn't recommend wearing them with thin or no socks though as your feet will get cold and it may feel funny. Thick fluffy ones will do the job nicely.
Now to the Reading test. If you followed the festival, you will be aware of the rain that happened during. It was a lot and quickly. The festival was really muddy but the wellies kept my feet dry and I didn't slip over (except in drunken antics), in my opinion that makes them perfect for what they were made for. They obviously got really dirty, but thats nothing a good wipe won't get rid of. They now look good as new and will be in my wardrobe for the winter time through all snow and other weather that may need these.
I actually plan on wearing my wellies to college in the winter when its freezing and snowy, other shoes would be a safety hazard due to my poor balance and lack of grip on my shoes. I love that they go with anything and could be worn fashionably or just for keeping you dry!
For £12, these wellies are really good quality. They have lasted me well so far and I am sure they will last a lot longer. They grip well, look nice, comfortable and waterproof - basically everything a pair of wellies need to be so why splash out for a pair!
Summary: i love my new wellies :)
