“ Brand: Miss KG / Type: Platform Shoes „
When it comes to shopping in the sales I find it can be a bit hit or miss. I tend to do all my sales shopping online as I find it easier. One of my favourite websites to shop at when they have a sale on is ASOS purely because I do sometimes think they over charge for their own branded items and it is nice to grab a bargain. But sometimes these bargains really don't turn out the way you want them to!
A pair of shoes I had seen in the Kurt Geiger website had taken my fancy but I had never bought them because I always found another pair that I liked more! However, I managed to buy this pair of shoes from ASOS in their sale yet they are still full price on the Kurt Geiger website, so it is worth shopping around at times!
The shoes in question are called Bond and they are made by Miss KG, a company which although owned by Kurt Geiger the shoes they produce go under the Miss KG name and are a slightly cheaper range than the main Kurt Geiger range.
What Miss KG say:
"Bond by Miss KG is an eye catching platform featuring super high heel and fun multicoloured jewel detailing. The ultimate statement shoe these are the ideal accessory for a night out, just team with your favourite dress for show stopping glamour!"
Bond come in either black or taupe but in fact the taupe shade is more grey in colour and it was the taupe shade that I bought purely because I preferred the multi coloured jewels on the platform. The picture doesn't really do the shoes justice as it makes the shape of the shoe look a bit odd (it may just be me!). The jewels come in a variety of colours (pinks, blues) and there are a few different styles which makes the platform look a bit different compared to other shoes with a similar style. The jewels are put on the platform in not particular pattern but they are all over the chunky platform. Having these jewels really give the shoes some much needed detail as without them the shoes would look very boring but it does mean that you have to look after the shoes to keep the jewels stuck on! You just need to make sure you wear the shoes carefully as the jewels will no doubt ping off if you are a bit too rough when you wear them.
The shoes are made from fabric which is quite stiff in order to keep the shape of the shoe as sometimes fabric shoes can gape at the sides because the material gives a bit too much. However, having worn these shoes several times I found that the fabric didn't really give much which actually made the shoes quite uncomfortable to wear as I found the rigid fabric rubbed the back of my heels constantly. What I wanted was the fabric to supple up a bit to give my foot a little bit more room to breath and to move around in the shoe but to no avail. The inside of the shoe is synthetic and the lining is the same shade as the shoe. There is a little padding in the heel area of the shoe which does help a little. The round toed shoes are actually quite narrow and even though I have normal width feet I did find these a little tight around the side of my feet which proved uncomfortable after a while.
The height of the super slim stiletto heel is 130mm which even though I don't find it particularly high the substantially sized platform takes off some of the height of the heel so they don't feel that high when you are walking in them. However, because the platform is so high I did wobble a bit when I first wore them. Even though I'm used to wearing heels with platforms I found the combination of the incredibly thin heel and the wide platform a bit unbalancing especially as there is no support for your feet with these shoes even more so when your feet don't fit the narrowness of the shoes particuarly well. I did feel like I was toppling over at times.
Miss KG Bond are available at all Miss KG stockists and come in either black or taupe. They are still full price on the Kurt Geiger website at £85.00 but I bought mine off ASOS and paid £45.00 which I think is a much better price for these shoes considering the issues I had. They are available in sizes 3 to 8.
Overall, these were a bad choice as they just rubbed my feet far too much. Even though they don't rub when I am wearing tights they are still quite narrow which does in the end start to hurt my foot. Probably a pair of shoes I could have done without but my obsession got the better of me and I am now paying the price with cut heels. I have now exchanged these with my sister for a pair of her shoes! She has narrow feet so they may well suit her better.
