“ Brand: Miss KG / Type: Platform Shoes „
Now that I am off work a lot of my "work" shoes have been resigned to my wardrobe and haven't seen the light of day since the end of September. However, in order to keep my clients and my name remembered I do still attend seminars, events and sometimes meetings but only if my partner isn't working in order our daughter can be looked after. So my shoes do get an outing now and again. I've noticed that my "work" shoes have been looking a bit worse for wear as they were worn a lot and even though heel tips could be replaced and they could do with a little polish some of my pairs looked beyond repair.
A girl is always in need in black shoes as they go with everything and this is exactly what I was needing a pair of black shoes without much detail, so no jewels, studs or large bows! I think shoes make an outfit and my work colleagues are very used to what I wear! I don't wear anything inappropriate just something which gives me height!
On my search for my replacement black shoes (I needed at least two pairs as about four pairs had to go to shoe heaven) I was on the ASOS website as I had previously managed a few bargains and found a pair by Miss KG called Lemonade. I knew the Lemonade style of shoe as I had previously eyed up the nude coloured pair in another store but I had never considered them in black. However, their reduced price of £39.00 caught my eye and they were put into my online basket without hesitation!
What Miss KG say:
"Lemonade by Miss KG is a towering high heel with thick platform and peep-toe. The must-have for any party girl this season, choose from classic black, nude and khaki or add a dash of colour to your outfit with Lemonade in pink or distressed metallic."
Lemonade come in black, khaki, metallic, nude and pink so there is quite a lot of choice for this shoe. As you can already tell I opted for the black which has a distressed dull patent effect which gives the shoe a little subtle detail. The shoes are classed as an evening shoe and depending on which colour you buy then this is true but for me I find the black shoes can be worn during the day to work or out and about.
The shoes dull, distressed patent effect really make these shoes a bit more special from plain, matt black shoes so they add a bit of detail to what can be boring work wear. Both the platform and heel are quite dull compared to the shoe but this suits the shoes better than being all in the distressed patent. The shoe has a small triangular shaped peep toe which I do find a bit narrow and would have liked it a bit wider, but the smaller peep toe suits this shoe and fortunately they are not too tight around your toes so they don't get crushed too much.
The shoes are made of fabric which seems to be the material of choice for the Miss KG brand. Unlike other fabric shoes I have from Miss KG these shoes haven't rubbed my feet (normally my heels). Sometimes fabric shoes can loose their shape and end up gaping as they don't offer any support. However, even though I have only worn these a handful of times they still look perfect and the fabric hasn't loosened up too much. Now I've worn them the fabric has softened a little. The lining to the shoes is nude in colour which contrasts nicely against the black.
The stiletto heel is around 140mm in height which even for me is quite high to wear to work but as there is quite a thick platform they don't feel as high to walk in. Because the platform is quite substantial I did worry about having a wobble as I walk around the office or meeting room! Fortunately this wasn't the case and after taking a few baby steps I found them quite easy to walk in and they were actually quite comfortable. Although my feet were relieved to be out of them, there was no rubbing anywhere on my feet and the arch of my feet felt well supported, although there isn't a lot of support around the sides of your feet.
Miss KG Lemonade is available from any Miss KG retailers including ASOS which is where I bought my pair. I managed to get them for £39.00. Their original price was £70.00 which I would of happily paid as they are a lovely pair of smart black shoes. Kurt Geiger have them in their sale but at £49.00. They start in sizes 3 and go up to an 8.
Overall, I have worn them to a couple of lengthy seminars which involved getting a train to the venue and then home and then spending hours walking around a large room so I was constantly on my feet and they were comfortable. However, after a full 8 hours I did crave my slippers but they managed to remain comfortable and easy to walk in.
