“ Brand: Miss KG / Type: Sandals „
This year I knew I was going to be going away a lot due to going on holiday with my parents and the parents in law as well as spending time at a family members villa in Gran Canaria. This has given me the perfect excuse to buy sandals and flip flops as I figured I needed some new ones as my ever faithful gladiator type sandals had given up the ghost as I literally lived in them for the past two summers so I figured I could do with quite a few pairs as I knew they would get plenty of use for at least this year and next.
As my first holiday this year was at the beginning of January (the 2nd to be precise) there isn't a lot of choice for flip flops. However, there are plenty on sale which is even better and to me it doesn't matter whether they are last seasons stock as they will still be just as fashionable this year and no doubt next year. As much as I love my shoes I don't follow seasonal fashion - I couldn't afford to even if I wanted to! My favourite sale is at Kurt Geiger and I have managed to snap up some real bargains, one of which are a pair of sandals by KG for Kurt Geiger called Lush.
KG by Kurt Geiger is yet another branch of Kurt Geiger, they produce shoes slightly more expensive than the Miss KG range but less expensive than the main Kurt Geiger range.
What KG say:
"KG by Kurt Geiger Lush is a gorgeous summer sandal which will take you right through from day to evening. With its three large jewels surrounded by small diamante beads, these are perfect to get your feet noticed in this season."
Lush only come in black which I think is a wonderful colour to contrast against the gold. Lush are a thong type sandal meaning that the piece of leather goes through the gap between your big toe. For some people this is really uncomfortable but I find it doesn't really both me.
The design of the shoe is actually really simple as the leather straps which go around the sides of your feet and the strap which goes between your toes are quite thin and are not particularly strong but what really does give these sandals the glam factor are the four large clear jewels which are sewn on and surrounded by diamante beads in gold plating. They really do had a bit of bling to these sandals. The jewels are in a tear drop shape and are just large enough to cover the bridge of your foot.
As I said above the straps are made of leather which do give a little when they are worn but they are not overly rigid to start off with. I have normal sized feed in terms of width and the straps just touched my skin without being tight but they were certainly not loose on my feet. The lining of Lush is metallic gold which contrasts nicely with the black and of course the jewelled detailing.
These sandals came away with me earlier this year and they were perfectly comfortable to wear right from the word go - the great thing about sandals is there is no breaking in period like there is wit shoes! I found that they suited both day and evening wear. Even though I took heels with me on holiday it was nice to go out on an evening wearing a pair of flat sandals, Lush managed to give the outfit a bit of glamour without being too over the top. I found that they went with most items of clothing from a pair of shorts to a maxi dress. The very tiny heel to the sandals wore well too and was hardly worn down despite doing a lot of walking in them.
As I mentioned Lush were bought in the sale at Kurt Geiger and originally retailed at £85.00 which is a price I would not have paid for a pair of sandals. They now retail at £39.00 which I think is a more acceptable price to pay. They come in sizes 3 to 8 but they have now been in the sale for quite sometime so sizes may be limited.
Overall, a plain but well detailed sandal which can be worn at any time of the day without looking too over the top. Hopefully this year we will have a decent summer and these will definitely get worn a lot!
