“ Brand: New Look / Type: Ankle Boots „
I love New Look shoes, it's no lie. If I get a pay bonus, it's going straight to New Look on a pair of shoes! Their shoe range is so varied that I never leave without a new pair!
This particular pair of wedges is really lovely & comfortable. They are slightly too high for me personally for day wear, but for the more experienced heel walker, these would probably make a lovely alternative to a pair of day high heels. I would wear these on a night out in a bar or clubbing. I love these shoes to either dress down a pastel dress with a pair of thick black tights & a leather jacket, or can be worn with some jeggings & a long t-shirt. They can literally be worn as part of any look!
As a boot, they feel a bit more sturdy on your feet than most heels. The zip has a bit of liner to protect your foot from any rubbing. There's a slight platform on the underside & curved shape at the toe which is to increase comfort. I am 5'5" and these shoes have quite a bit of height to them, but unlike conventional heels, are still very comfortable to wear after a couple of hours of dancing!
They are a suede like material, so please be careful in the rain or any beer spillage, however as they are black, it does hides most marks!
New Look is one of my favourite high street stores. I think that they do really good fashions for reasonable prices. I like the fact that they also have such a quick turn over of stock so I can treat myself to something new pretty much any time I visit the store as they will have something different in.
I especially like their shoes and think they are really good quality especially as the majority of them aren't very expensive to buy and they seem to last me a decent amount of time even when I end up wearing them a lot.
I picked up these wedges and a few other bits and pieces when New Look sent me a pile of discount vouchers with my account card statement.
I had been looking at them for a while but the size of the heel always put me off slightly. Now normally I am not concerned about a high heel but there was something about these that just looked a little off to me and I was convinced that they weren't going to be comfortable.
I needn't have worried though as when I tried them on they were extremely comfortable to walk in and the wedge gave me extra support and I didn't have any problems with teetering. The front platform part also made the height feel less significant than it might have otherwise.
The heel is only about 3 inches fully at its highest part but for some reason it does look higher than this. When I have them on I also feel like I have got more height than I normally would with a 3 inch heel but I think this is all to do with the design of them.
They are made from a black suede material and this is a lovely dark black and not a grey black and they go really well with my black trousers or my skirt for work. They look quite professional when they are on even though they are also really modern and fashionable looking.
They have a zip on the sides which does make them easy to get on and off and I feel like the zip helps tighten them enough that they don't feel loose on my ankle.
I have quite wide feet and these don't feel tight in the slightest, they also don't pinch my toes which is a relief as these types of wedges are normally too small on the toes and end up hurting when I walk.
The price for these wedge shoes boot is £19.99 which I think is a really great price. As I said before I have bought loads of shoes from New Look and most of the time they last me for ages so they are well worth the money.
I was recently looking for some new ankle boots that I would be able to wear for work as my other pair I have had for 3 years now and they are starting to show signs of wear and tear. All my other ankle boots have high heels and so I only ever wear these for a night out and not for everyday wear.
I came across these ankle boots in New Look 2 weeks ago, they are available in black and tan. It was the tan coloured ones that originally caught my eye and I tried them on straight away. I know these have heels which I was trying to steer away from, but they are only small heels in comparison to the ones I wear for a night out and so I thought I'd be able to walk fine in them without them hurting my feet.
They are easy to put on as they have a zip down the outside of the boots, and unlike other shoes I have owned in the past, these zips are quite good quality and it doesn't take forever to zip them up! They are available in sizes 3 up to 9, however they did not have the tan coloured ones available in my size 5 that day and size 6 was too big. They did have my size available in the black ones though but I did like the tan coloured ones more and so after some consideration I decided to leave it and order the tan ones online.
I looked around some other shops (still thinking about the boots and annoying my boyfriend) when I decided to go back and buy them in black, simply because they would go with more things that I own than the tan ones would anyway. My boyfriend also kindly decided to put my mind at rest by saying if I still wanted the tan ones after he would get me them when he got paid. Therefore I had no choice but to go back and buy the black ones! They are priced at £24.99 which I think is cheap for a pair of boots, but after student discount these only cost me £22.49.
I first wore these when I went out for a pub lunch and I found they were very easy to walk in. After getting used to walking in much higher heels in the past few years it was easy, and I could also drive in these, which I usually find difficult in heels and end up having a pair f flats in my car so I can quickly change into them!
However, the next time I wore them was when I went shopping in Newcastle. After walking around for sometime my feet started to ache. It was still easy to walk in them but I won't be wearing these for a shopping trip again! As I am sitting down for the majority of the time at work though then I can still wear these then without my feet aching and so I can still wear these for the main purpose I bought them for. I think they look very smart when worn with tights and a dress or tunic top, or even with skinny jeans. These ankle boots really stand out when worn with coloured skinny jeans, more so than when worn with black tights. The holes also fit perfectly around my ankles and so if you do wear skinny jeans they will tuck in to the boots easily without coming out.
The material of these is a soft suede feel. I do think they are very versatile and can be worn day or night, I just wouldn't recommend wearing on a big shopping trip like I did! I would also wear these for a night out as they will go with lots of dresses I own, I just don't want to get them scruffy or dirty as I will like these to last some time so I can wear them for work.
I have to confess I am not too great at teeter-tottering around in heels so when I feel it is absolutely necessary in order to look nice, I much prefer wearing wedges. Being a lover of New Look in general, and their affordable footwear (I have about 15 pairs of shoes including heels, flats, boots, sandals etc from New Look alone!) I purchased these wedge ankle boots in black.
The boots are a suede type material, with about a 2 and half inch heel, which is not too high considering the wedge support which makes them much easier to balance and walk about in. They have an outer zip on each foot which allows for ease to put these boots on as opposed to just attempting to slip my feet in. I prefer the zip component as when I do the zip up my feet feel just that bit more snug and comfortable. As I have mentioned before I think I have really skinny ankles so I don't really like footwear that highlight this aspect (trust me there are some that do!) so I like this wedge boot as it comes up high enough to hide my ankle and so also give added ankle support as I need this to be able to walk properly! (The countless times my ankles buckle under my own weight when I have been drinking a few too many lol!)
Size wise, I am generally a size 5 and I find New Look footwear fit just to size so I have these in size 5/ European 38 and they fit perfectly so the fitting is standard. They have a round toe which is a nice shape (as opposed to a more pointy boot) and so I think this boot is quite accommodating to those with wide fitting feet as my feet are slim but wide in the forefront and these fit comfortably and don't pinch.
The material of these boots is a black suede which although probably not genuine leather they don't feel cheap. The material hasn't frayed or started to come off in any way as I'd expect as they are relatively cheap for what they are, as I have seen similar boots in Aldo and Office for £70 +. The soles is quite strong and hasn't worn down although I have only worn these boots on a handful of occasions but as I have had many other New Look boots for years (I don't go out all too often having a 3 year old and all that!) I think these will definitely last a while yet!
I like black heels as they are versatile and can be dressed up or down with various outfits and still work. The look of the boots also is multi purpose as they can be casual with a pair of jeans on a dinner out, or I have worn them with a nice dress to a summer barbecue and I got lots of nice compliments on them!
Price wise, these boots are reasonable only costing £29.99 so I think they are good value and I think they are a great addition to my New Look shoe collection!
