In the summer, I like lightweight shoes that are comfortable to wear. I have a couple of pairs of these 'deck sport shoes' from New Look which fit that bill perfectly. What I like most about them is that they are such a good price (£7.99 although I have recently seen them in the sale for just £5) that I don't feel too bad if I wear them for one season and then throw them out.

The shoes have a lightweight canvas upper and a thicher rubber sole. The sole is sturdy and grooved on the underside to offer good grip. The inner sole is also pretty well padded so that it offers good support and makes the shoe comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I have these in white (not the most practical of colours, but nice in the summer) and black and white stripes. I have also seen them available in black and navy blue.

I find that these fit my feet perfectly - I do have wide feet though so, for narrower feet I would be concerned that these may feel too large and slip off easily. They are comfortable to wear and offer good support around my ankle. They are great for the unpredictable British weather as they are closed in yet still quite summery so offer the protection from rainfall that more strappy sandals do not.

I have found the shoes wear well, the sole is quite strong so does not wear away quickly. Whilst the material does get dirty, and is not easy to clean, it can be sponge cleaned to remove some but I have also put these in the washing machine and they have washed up well with no damage to the shoe. Although I usually purchase a new pair each year, I am confident that these could last longer than this if you required it, but probably not too much longer than a couple of years before the sole starts to wear or they get too grubby. For the price though, I think they are great value for money.
