“ Brand: New Look / Type: Flats „
I love New Look and am always either popping into my local store or browsing online at www.newlook.co.uk. I like to check regularly online because they always have something new on sale and I've been able to get quite a lot of bargains that way because a lot of the time the sale items are sold out or not available in my size by the time I get to them in store. It was whilst browsing online that I came across these cute ballet style shoes and on offer at just £10 instead of £19.99 I couldn't say no.
They range in size from 3-8 and come in black, white, pink, gold and silver. My size which is 5 was sold out in most of the colours but I did manage to bag myself the pink pair, I wanted the black and silver as well but they were sold out in my size. I bought a few other items on sale so was able to pick them up in store for free!!! This option is only available is you spend over £20 and is a great way of saving paying their £4.95 delivery charge.
When I got the shoes a few days later I wasn't disappointed. They're a a lovely bright pink and the crystals on the front are cut in all different shapes and sizes and really caught the light as I held them up for my inspection. I'm a right one for my crystals and nothing irritates me more than finding I have any missing!!! Luckily all were present and correct lol. The shoes themselves are flat ballet style pumps, the pink of the shoe is a shiny fabric which I didn't realise when looking at them online. I worried that might get scuffed up easily and be hard to clean. The inner and outer soles are very thin which was another slight disappointment but for £10 you can't really complain.
Wearing these shoes was for me a real let down. They felt quite tight around my toes and a bit like they were too squashed together in there. Walking around for the day it felt like me feet were literally slapping on the hard concrete because the soles are so thin and by the end of the day I had blisters!!! I did eventually break them in a bit after a good few times wearing them and although pretty little pumps I'm glad the other colours I wanted were out of stock. I wouldn't buy these again if I had the chance. Although you can wipe them over with a damp cloth to get any dirt off they do start to look worn very quickly and they're still not the most comfortable of shoes because of the thin sole and my toes being a bit crunched up in them. They just aren't wide enough for me I suppose.
I pretty much only wear pumps so when my latest pair begins to disintegrate. I usually go to New Look as I know their flats tend to be easy to wear and versatile. This was how I found these shoes and I've been wearing them for a few months.
These shoes were in the sale when I bought them, they were down from £19.99 to £10.00 which is pretty decent discount. I liked the look of them so I was hopeful about how comfortable they would be too.
These jewelled shoes were available in pink, black and white originally. In the sale the only ones left were black and pink. Not being an overly girly girl I opted for the black shoes as I knew these would be the most versatile and also most appropriate for places like work. They are a classic ballet shape, with a rounded toe and a jewelled corsage over the toes. They are made of a faux leather fabric and has a rubbery sole which is relatively thin. The shoes, from far away, look to be pretty good quality though on close inspection there as aspects (like the faux leather and thin sole) which look very cheap. For a shoe under a tenner you probably can't argue with this but they aren't exactly the best quality.
I did fell, however, that from far away they were perfectly acceptable for day wear, night wear and for work. Initially I did worry a little about them being so blingy and this being a little much for day wear but actually they do look really nice and casual when paired with a simple day time dress.
I have also found them more comfortable than other flats I have recently owned from New Look. They took me a matter of days to wear in with minimal rubbing or pain to my heels. I also think the thin soles are deceiving. Often thin soles hurt your feet because it means they are very flat on the ground and not supported, however I have not had this problem with these shoes because they are padded inside and therefore very comfortable.
Though the faux leather is a little cheap looking I have found it really useful for cleaning these shoes. I tend to give them a wipe down with a wet wipe/baby wipe every now and then and find this cleans them up easily and without any hassle. I can probably forgo quality if it means ease of cleaning, so I forgive the slightly cheap looking fabric.
Overall I really like these shoes and hope they last me a while yet!
I went out shopping for some flat pump shoes, I usually buy heels as I am small and need the extra height. I was looking for flats as I am pregnant and need something comfy to wear and find my bump was putting me off balance in heels! I did not want to spend a lot of money on shoes as I still have so much baby items still to buy. I headed to new look as I knew they had a shoe sale on I found the jewelled flats in new look and bought several pairs of them.
The shoes are available in store and online at newlook.com. The postage for delivery costs £4.95 and I find new look delivers fast. I paid £10.00 each for the shoes and bought 3 pairs. They were in the sale and usually cost £19.99.
The jewelled shoes are available in pink, black and white. They all come with the same jewelled design on them. The shoes are available in size 4-7. They are thin rubber flat soles, and the material is shiny matalic artificial leather. They are not overly dressy and can be worn casual as I have been wearing them. The jewels are silver in colour, they are randomly arranged over the toe area of the shoes. They look classy and not to over the top, they have a slight thin heel less than 3mm.
Flat shoes have now grown on me, the shoes are very comfy to wear and are not too tight to wear or pinch my swelling feel. The heel is very very low and I find that there is no support in the shoes and because the heels so low I feel if I wear them for long periods of time it causes strain on the back of my legs but are comfy for me if not worn all day.
The colours are all nice but I prefer the hot pink shoes best, I have worn them the most and find that they have started marking on the back of heel and scuffed around the toe areas. Also a few jewels have came loose but I have glued the back on. I like new looks range of shoes and find them to be well made and comfortable to wear and cheap to buy. I am overall happy with the shoes but find they could be improved with slight padding and a better insole.
I wipe them with a damp cloth when they get dirty and they come up clean and cause no damage to the material. They look nice with my skinny jeans or a maxi dress and will probably last me through the summer so they have been value for money.
As much as I love high heeled shoes I need shoes that are "practical" after all I'm a mother of two young toddlers, which means lots of pram pushing and generally chasing the two terrors around. Therefore flat pumps seem to be a sensible solution as they look good and suit my lifestyle. Unlike my high heeled shoes I refuse to spend a lot of money of flat shoes as they get ruined. Therefore New Look and other lower priced high street stores are usually my retailer of choice. One of my purchases since becoming a mother have been New Look Jewelled Flats
***New Look Jewelled Flats***
New Look Jewelled Flats are a rounded toe flat ballet pump type shoe with embellishment. The embellishment is in the form of eight silvery white jewels all of a different size and all slightly smaller than a 5p piece arranged on the front of the shoe above the toe.
The main section of the shoe is made from a shiny fabric with a man-made sole and lining. The appearance of the shoe is very girly and pretty and slightly more dressy and formal than the majority of ballet pump type shoes.
The Jewelled Flats are available from New Look stores and online at www.newlook.co.uk . In stores the colours range however generally the black and white shoes are available in most stores. Online the full range of colours is available. This includes black, white, bright pink, plum, silver and gold. The shoes are available in sizes UK 3-8 and the black and white colours are available in wider fitting sizes too.
The RRP for these shoes is £19.99 which I think is reasonable if you consider similar style shoes with this amount of detail from Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge are usually around £30. New Look often have special offers on these shoes. I purchased these in black for £10 however at the time the white version were also being sold for £5.
I purchased these shoes in black therefore will be reviewing the black version of these shoes only.
I purchased these from a New Look store therefore purchased the shoes directly off the shelf and they come with no box, which for a lower priced pair of shoes should be expected.
The shoes when brand new did have quite a plastic type scent to them and did feel quite rigid when I picked them up. Appearance wise the shoes looked great the material was a deep black colour and although slightly shiny did not make the shoes look cheap. The jewels on the front of the shoes looked very clear and bright and felt like they were firmly attached to the shoes.
When I first put these shoes on my feet I did feel that they were slightly uncomfortable. The shoes hug the foot and sits about 1cm below the ankle. The ballet pump style shoe means the front of your foot is exposed but all of my toes were covered. Where the shoes met my foot I did feel it was rather snug and gripped my foot, which was quite uncomfortable as on the first wear the material felt very stiff and rigid. On the first wear I did suffer some rubbing and blisters around the front of my foot and on my heel as the shoes were so rigid. However this is pretty standard for all flat ballet type pumps I have purchased as my feet do not seem to agree with them.
After another wear the material of the shoe softened up and I did not suffer blisters or rubbing as they had moulded to the shape of my feet. I have found these shoes comfortable to wear for long periods of time and wear them for long walks. I do find with excessive walking my feet ache slightly for the shoes being so flat but this happens with all flat ballet type pumps not just the Jewelled Flats from New Look.
After about a months' worth of regular wear (around 3-4 times per week) the shoes did look quite worn and had suffered some damage. On each shoe one of the smaller jewels had fallen off and the front of the shoe around the sole and toe looked scuffed. This did not make the shoes un-wearable but I did not wear them for smart occasions after this as I felt they looked a little too tatty. After around 2 months' worth of wear I decided the shoes were no longer wearable as more jewels had fallen off and the sole looked like it was coming away from the material on one of the shoes. For some they may find this unacceptable and feel the quality of the shoes are very disappointing however for £10 and because my daily routine means my shoes suffer a battering I think this was to be expected. After all I had crawled after my boys in these, been for long walks on gravel paths and not really looked after the shoes.
It was quite difficult to clean and maintain these shoes. Because of the shiny material I did not use shoe cleaners on the shoe. Instead I just used a shoe brush to dust off dirt. Because of the jewels you do need to take care when cleaning. The shiny material does stain quite easily but because I purchased these in black stains did not show up so easily. If you did purchase these in a lighter colour you would need to be very careful as the shoes would stain very easily.
Something I do find with these shoes is that the sole is quite stiff. I prefer ballet pumps to have a softer thinner rubbery sole as they are easy to walk in as they bend with your feet. However with these shoes the sole is quite a hard stiff material which when you walk does not bend. This has not improved with wear or softened up but on a positive it does mean that you can walk over rough terrain without your feet being uncomfortable or feel things digging into your feet through the sole of your shoe. With softer more rubbery soled ballet pumps this is a common occurrence.
I purchased these shoes in a size 5 (I'm usually a 4 or 5 depending on the brand) so I would say if you are unsure of the size it would be better to go for a larger size as they are a smaller fit lengthways than other shoes. I also found that the shoes which I purchased in the standard size fitted perfectly across the feet width wise and I have narrow feet, therefore for those with wider feet you definitely will need to by these in the wider fitting range.
These are a very pretty looking pair of shoes and for £10 were a bargain. However the main problem is these are quite a low quality pair of shoes compared to others in my collection which mean they are a lot less durable and suffer damage very easily, hence missing jewels and a lot of scuffs on the shoes.
I do not find flat shoes very comfortable generally ( I always get blisters on the first few wears no matter if I buy a £100 pair of flats or a £5 pair) but these were reasonable and after a few blisters on the first two wears when breaking them in, they were comfortable after that.
These shoes are not the best quality but these are a £10 pair of shoes so definitely would be consider "throw away" fashion and for the price I do not mind having to throw them away after two months of regular wear.
As already stated in a previous review I find heels are a killer to walk in and although I may wear them for special occasions I usually stick to flat shoes for everyday wear. I love the ballet style flats and have many pairs, one of my recent buys are the jewelled flats from New Look. I snapped mine up in the sale for £10.00 though before that they were £19.99, I think that if they hadn't been on sale I wouldn't of bought them - it was the fab price that swayed me!
Unlike the dooyoo picture I have these shoes in a lovely purple/plum colour, the jewel embellished front I adore as it gives the shoes that special something and it really makes them stand out. The "jewels" are faceted so look bright and shiny, I find they almost glint as you walk along! Style wise I think these shoes look great, they are glitzy enough to be worn as an alternative to heels if you're going to somewhere special yet they can also be worn casually with jeans during the day so they're very versatile.
The one thing I don't like about them is that they rub! I wore them in the house first and they were fine, when I wore them outside they began to rub really badly at the back of my heels and I ended up with huge blisters and welts that bled. My feet were so sore afterwards and unfortunately these shoes seem to rub whenever I wear them so I have to put plasters on beforehand. My bad experience means that I rarely wear them as I know that they will rub me whenever I do, plasters or not!
I don't mind the fact that they are extremely flat though they may cause aching and discomfort for some people. I absolutely love the way that these shoes look but they don't seem to agree with my feet so unfortunately they have been banished to the back of my shoe rack! It wouldn't stop be from buying flat shoes again though as not all ones rub me, it's trial and error. I think that these shoes are worth the price that I payed for them but not the original £19.99. The lining of the shoes also seem to make my bare feet awfully sweaty which isn't very nice. Overall I give them 3 stars for their prettiness alone, certainly not their wear factor!
As I mentioned in a review yesterday it occured to me a few weeks ago that although I own about 1 million pairs of heels I ddidnt really own any nice, going out flat shoes.I just owned the basic colours in very basic styles for everyday wear but as soon as I realised my wardrobe was missing something I went straight to New Look to stock up on some gorgeous flat shoes - mainly because I knew they had a massive sale on at the time hehe! Anyway I ended up buying about 3 or 4 pairs while I was there and now Dooyoo have accepted all of them I thought Id start writing about them starting with these 'New Look Jewelled Flats'.

I personally own the White coloured shoes. As they were the ones that appealed to me most of all - I have to say though I might go back for the Bright Pink pair!
The pair I own look exactly the same as in the picture except the colour is different. These shoes are a bright white colour with a rounded edge by the toes (I usually HATE shoes that are in this style) and they do have a very slight raised heel at the back but its more to balance out the look of the shoes rather than to add any height. The front of the shoe is encrusted with little silver jewels in all different shapes and sizes which I think looks gorgeous and the little jewels are the main reason I bought these. Without them I htink these shoes would be pretty boring so they add a nice girly, feminine edge without making them look tacky.
These shoes are incredibly comfy straight away and they have never rubbed my feet since I got them which most shoes do so Im very happy about that. They even go with pretty much anything - I prefer to wear them with casual clothes like jeans or leggings as they make the casual clothes look more dressy but they are just as suitable for a night out. They add a bit of sparkle to a dress or a skirt and they do make a nice change from wearing heels around town. They are super comfy so you can keep them on all night and I feel every bit as dressed up as everyone else in their heels when Im wearing these!
I do have one slight problem which I think must be a first for me with New Look shoes and that is that these shoes scuff so easily. Ive had these for about 2 months now and while all the gems have stayed firmly in place the front of both shoes has scuffed quite a bit which makes them look much older than they actually are. That did annoy me as usually New Look shoes last me for ages before any damage occurs so Im knocking a star off for the scuffing but apart from that I love these shoes and definitely recommend them. They are great for casual and going out wear and they wont kill your feet like your heels will so what are you waiting for?
Thanks For Reading.
