“ Brand: New Look / Type: Wedge Shoes „
I bought these a few years ago in New Look as I had no shoes to wear in the summer and had didn't want to wear flip flops, I'm a high heel girl! When I first spotted them they were reduced down to £9.99 and I loved how they have a kind of nautical theme. Usually my feet vary around a size 5 or 6 (just depends what shop) so I tried on both and found that the 6 fitted much better, they seemed a bit small made. They are very comfortable to wear and although they have a wedge heel they don't feel like you are wearing a high heel at all. They are peep toe and sling back which also adds to the comfort as your feet stay cool in the summer if out walking about. In sum a great bargain at sale price, I still have them now and still wear them! Although looking a bit worn now I wouldn't hesitate to find a similar pair and buy them at full price.
I bought these cork wedges last summer as I wanted a pair that would go with a casual summer dress that I had for my holiday and these fit the bill ideally. They come from New Look which is one of my favourite shops when it comes to buying shoes as I find that they offer exceptional value on fashionable shoes which are usually decent quality for the price. These wedges were no exception to that and when I put them in the attic at the start of winter they were still in good condition ready to be worn again this year. I think I paid £14.99 for these shoes which I think was a really good price and one that I was happy to pay as I had seen other similar cork wedges which were £50 at the time. The shoes have a thick cork wedge sole (with some plastic on the bottom to stop the cork from getting destroyed when walking) and then a layer of rope like material and then the actual shoe is made of canvas. They have a real nautical look and feel to them and are very summery. The ones that I have the canvas is a navy colour and for me this adds to the nautical look and feel of them and also I think this is one of the easiest colours to pull off as it goes with almost anything. I can wear these with jeans, dresses and shorts and they give me a casual yet not sloppy look for walking about in. When walking in them I appreciate just how comfortable the shoes are. The wedge isn't too high and because it is thick it makes them much easier to walk in than a heel. The canvas slingback is much more comfortable than something like leather and it doesn't rub or cause blistering on my heel. They also feel really secure on my feet and because they can be tightened I don't feel as though they are loose and as if my feet are slipping about in them. The peep toe is a nice touch and looks nice with some polish on my toes but as well as looking nice it also stopped my toes from feeling too crowded in the shoes. Overall these are a really nice and summery pair of wedges. They go with loads of different outfits and are super comfortable and although casual they are a bit more dressy than sandals are. The price is fantastic and I am looking forward for spring so that I can get them out of the attic and start wearing them again.
I saw these Knotted Cork Wedge Shoes a while ago but the weather was so bad I decided against buying them although I really liked the lovely coral colour, however I recently went into my local New Look to buy a pair of shoes for an engagement party ( previous review) and noticed that these were reduced right down to £8.00 so I bought a pair. The Knotted Cork Wedge Shoes are not what I would shoes at all, in my opinion these are sandals, my local New Look only had these in this lovely coral colour and to be honest I cant remember if they had any other colour choice when I first saw these or not. The upper part of the shoe is made from canvas and has a nice cross over knot design with a peep toe front, the back of the shoe is a sling back style and has a small metal buckle allowing you to adjust the strap for a better fit. The shoes are a wedge design with the wedge being made of cork, where the cork meets the canvas they have a nice rope trim which is in a plaited design. I like this feature, I think the colour of the cork and the rope blend really well with the lovely coral canvas. The wedge has a 2.5 inch heel so not too high but the sandals also have a platform sole which is almost half the depth of the heel, this takes a lot of the heel height away making them ideal for holidays when you are likely to be walking around in the heat. I bought these in a 6, euro 39, which is my regular size and they fit perfectly which I was pleased about as they were in the sale and sometimes the sizing isn't quite true. The last couple of weeks I have had a lot of use from these, for me personally they have been comfortable from day 1 although I do think sometimes canvas can be a hit and miss when it comes to comfort I haven't had any rubbing or sore feet at all. I like the fact that the sling back is adjustable and the buckle hasn't dug into the side of my foot. I wear these either with a short denim skirt or shorts and they look great, they are more of a casual daytime sandal for me, I prefer something with a higher heel for evenings but for days out or even just shopping these are ideal. If you have a New Look near you and you are looking for a pair of comfortable sandals then I can certainly recommend these, and now is definitely the time to buy when they are at a bargain price.
I like a comfortable shoe, I don't do high heels but wedges I can get on with. They're just like wearing an elevated flat shoe really so they give you the height but with comfort. me perched on two spindly stiletto heels is a no no lol. I just can't walk in proper heels. I was having a look on the New Look website and their sale items and came across these recently. Reduced form £15.99 to just £8 and available in either navy blue or coral I just had to have a pair. I'm such a girl, blue isn't for me so I got them in coral. On the New Look website you can either choose to pay delivery and have them sent straight to your home or if you spend over £20 you can choose to have them delivered to your local store free of charge!! this is a great option if an item is out of stock in your store but in stock online. I was getting a few other sale items so had them delivered to the store. The wedges have base to them which is nice and summery. They're a cute peep toe with a knotted design at the front and a woven straw design around the wedge. They're sling backs with a buckle for easy putting on and taking off. They're very comfortable to wear and easy to walk in but I did find that for the first couple of times I wore them they did rub and give me blisters. After I'd worn them a good few times though they loosened up a bit and are really comfortable now. I have worn these with a Maxi dress on sunny days out and about and they're great. They're currently still on the website for £8 instead of £15.99 the time of writing this review 8/08/2012 but the coral is out of stock.
I work right by a load of shops and so in the past year or two shopping has become something I do quite regularly in store as well as online. This means that I like to treat myself when I get paid and I am always looking for a bargain too. A couple of months ago I got two pairs of these cork wedge shoes in my local New Look store and I paid around £12.00 for each pair of them when there was a special offer on in store (25% selected items if I remember correctly). The full price of these is around £16, however, they are currently just £8.00 on the New Look website and in store so a bargain is definitely available at present! I like different varieties of shoes for different purposes. Wedges and sandals for hot summer days when I'm not walking too much, trainers for any day where I'm talking lots and heels for work. I like wellies or boots for when its raining, snowing or generally muddy. Cork wedges are definitely a summer shoe for me and when I bought these I was very optimistic that we would have a beautiful summer and I could enjoy my first full summer of working part time, alas, so far its been drab and dreary so I've only worn them a few times each month, however, recently we've had a blast of beautiful weather and I've been wearing both pairs quite often, the navy blue ones more than the coral ones mind. I like to wear heels to work, a few days a week, and I like to keep up with wearing heels if I can just to ensure that my feet don't start to ache once I'm back to work for a stint of a few days, well, not ache as much as they used to anyway. Heels, I feel, add some glamour to almost outfit, they make my calves look slimmer, help with my posture and make me look and feel stronger, taller and more confident. The only downside to wearing standard heels is the ache in my feet that I sometimes experience, however, with wedges this is never the case and so I like to wear wedges for my days off where I can. When I first started wearing these heels I did find that if it was very warm outside that I incurred some blisters on the backs of my heel. These were easily rectified using a blister plaster or even just a standard waterproof plaster and this is something that I always expect when wearing in a shoe that I can't wear socks with. Once I had worn these a few times they were definitely more lenient on my feet and since the first few wears I have not suffered with blisters on more than one occasion and that was just through walking far too far in them while at the park and I regretted it that evening when my feet were sore, tired and blistered. These shoes are quite nice to look at, nothing really special but I like them anyway. I have two colours, coral and navy blue, and I love both pairs. The coral ones go great with neon or colour block outfits and the navy blue ones go great with jeans, leggings and embellished tops which I often wear on days out. The wedge on these shoes is not over the top and I do not worry about toppling over while wearing these either. There is a sling-back design to these shoes and they have an open toe with a knotted design that sits at the top front of the shoe, this is a pretty design and I like that it draws the eye to the shoe more than a standard flat peep toe end, also, there is a buckle on these for easy application to your foot too which is a huge plus point for me. I always use the buckle to get the sling-back strap just right for my feet and I find it a great confidence builder that the strap is pulled tight and won't just fall off when I take a footstep. I like the material on these shoes, they are strong and sturdy and the material holds up well to any splashes or wind that may pass over it. The colour has stayed good so far considering I've been sunbathing and leaving these next to me in the park and applies to both the colours that I own. I like the cork heels on these two as they look quite uniform yet they are unique too at the same time and this is a great feature as far as I'm concern as it means that no two pairs are every exactly the same. Once I'd worn these shoes a few times they become incredibly comfort and I was chuffed with them and their quality, particularly for the low price that I paid. I stopped getting blisters after wearing them in slightly and I love the added height that they give me. I find these shoes to be quite comfortable for wedges with peep toes and my feet have plenty of space in these shoes. I like feeling taller and yet sturdy on my feet and these cork wedges definitely help me achieve that. I have not had any problems with twisting my ankle or anything like that and I feel that these are more daytime wedges than ones to be worn at night time on a night out. I can go for a nice stroll through the park with these on now and not worry about blisters if I take a detour or end up going to the supermarket on my way home. Overall I would say that these shoes are absolutely fantastic. I am going to rate them 5/5. The height of them is reasonable without being over the top, the cork is strong and I do not feel that almost toppling over feel that I do with other wedges, the colours are pretty and go with lots of outfits with a wide range of colours and prints available. The price, even at full price, represents fantastic value for money and once these have been worn in they are soft and comfortable to wear. In all - I love them!
I can't bear to wear flat shoes or no heels, I feel a bit drab to be honest and I always feel a bit better when I have at least a little bit of a heel. I have been on holiday recently and although I took with me a couple of pairs of (flat) flip-flops, I felt I needed something a little bit more 'glam' for nights out. I like to wear long floaty dresses on warm summer evenings when I am on holiday, and although flip flops or flat pumps might be more practical, I just would have withdrawal symptoms, I am sure, if I couldn't take something with at least a little bit of a heel. Before going on holiday I had a look around the shops for something 'summery' but nothing too formal and I stumbled across a great pair of wedge shoes in New Look (not a shop I go into that often, but I had heard they did a good range of cheap shoes). Mine are in navy blue, exactly as per the picture and they have been fantastic to wear whilst on my holidays. I love the look of these shoes, because they look like a proper summer shoe. The top is in canvas with a knot type tie at the front, near to the toe. They are peep toed with sling backs and a cork wedge of approximately two and a half inches high - the perfect height really for a glam type holiday shoe, I think! They cost me £15 at the time but I think they have since gone down in price. I still think £15 was a bargain though. As they are a fairly neutral colour, I found they went well with most of my holiday outfits. I primarily wore them during evenings out with my maxi dresses but I also wore them once or twice during the day with shorts. Whatever I wore them with, they looked fab! They were so comfortable and I got no blisters or marks at all during the entire fortnight - which is something of a miracle for me! My flip flops, on the other hand, rubbed like crazy between my poor toes and caused me no end of problems. Although it's been very wet since I got back home, I have worn them once or twice on dryer days with jeans and again they look great. They are smart yet casual and look really trendy. I simply love them. Highly recommended and I give them 5 stars out of 5.
THE DESIGN These shoes are a cork soled wedge with fabric upper. They have a peep toe and are sling back style, mine are the Coral shoes but you can choose from a range of colours. THE FIT I am a shoe size 4 but bought the size 5 in these shies as they are quite a small fit. The size 5 fits me perfectly but I have had to punch an extra hole in the strap at the back to tighten them enough. COMFORT This quite a high wedge but they are very comfortable to walk in because the cork makes the sole soft and padded. The platform is a low one so your foot does have to angle itself sharply as you walk but if you are used to wearing heeled shoes you will be comfortable in these. The peep toe is a bit rough against my skin because the fabric is choppily cut and not flattened down properly, this has got better with wear but is still not as comfortable as I like my shoes to be. The strap at the back is smooth and sits in the right position to keep the shoes in place as I walk, the buckle is not very effective because it slides around while I'm fastening it but once it's done up it'll stick and has never come undone while I'm walking. HOW DO THEY WEAR? I've worn mine six times and they still look new. The Coral fabric shows up dirty stains but are cleaned up with a wet cloth, if you let the sole get wet it takes a long time to dry and looks patchy until its dry. There has been no cracking or pitting to the cork and the underside of the sole is still shiny and new looking. ANYTHING ELSE? The shoes are available from size 4 to size 9 and cost £8. 4 Dooyoo Stars.
I bought these shoes in New Look quite a few months ago but have only had a couple of opportunities to wear them so far as the weather this "summer" has been so rubbish! I find that New Look often has some nice shoes for really cheap prices, so I do like to have a browse in there every once in a while and I bought these wedges just because I liked them and they were cheap (I think around £15 when I bought them), so not for any particular reason or event. I saw them in either navy or coral and I bought the navy as I didn't have any navy wedges and thought they would go with a lot of things. They look really nice with casual jeans or jeans shorts and a t-shirt, or they also look lovely with skirts or dresses. I have a navy dress with white polka dots that goes great with these shoes. I am sure most people would have stuff in their wardrobe which they could wear these shoes with as they are not too flashy or dressy and are easy to wear with most things really! The shoes have a hard plastic sole, cork wedge, a thin layer of rope under the upper and then the upper is canvas with a peep toe and knotted design. Inside the shoe the sole is gold and seems to be made from a kind of thick shiny cardboard, which does look a bit cheap in my opinion, but you can't see this gold when you are wearing them. They feel very comfortable to wear as the wedge is quite low and they don't dig into my feet or pinch anywhere. I would say they are true to size as I bought a 6 which is my usual size. They fasten with a sling back at the back of the shoe and I do sometimes have problems with that type of sandal as I have narrow ankles. I find that sometimes this type of shoe can slip a lot at the ankle, making me fear they will fall off my feet! I do slightly experience this with these New Look sandals, but definitely not as badly as with some other shoes. The sling back can be tightened by pulling it tighter and fastening with the buckle, meaning I can get it quite secure on my foot. I wouldn't want to have to run in them or anything, but for general walking around they are fine. Overall I think they were a good buy for the money and I like them as they look really nice, go with a lot of outfits and are fairly comfortable. I would recommend them especially if you don't know what I mean about the ankle problem and don't ever have that issue yourself!
~ New Look Knotted Wedge Shoes ~ Being a bit of a shoe fanatic I have to admit to owning over 60 pairs of shoes and that is after a recent clearout! And being a shoe fanatic I often pop into New Look just to see what shoes they have in and if they have any sales on and that is where I spotted these little beauties! They had been reduced from £15.99 to £11.99 so I wasn't about to walk out without them, I also had a £5 voucher from when I exchanged something a while back so I used this too, getting the price down to a neat £6.99. They were available in either navy or coral and I chose the latter as I thought they looked nicer and would go well with a lot of my clothes. Checking online I also spotted they were also available in black and white/monochrome yet this option wasn't available in store when I went in. I had been looking for a pair of low wedges/heels anyway, the weather was nice and whilst I do usually wear flat pumps for everyday wear, sometimes I just wanted something a little more dressy and these fitted the bill nicely. The shoes have a nice low casual wedge cork heel with a straw plaited trim, they are open toe sandals with a sling back. The back is adjustable and has a little gold buckle to do so. I am rather short so some (most) of my trousers would drag under my feet if I wore them with flats and in the nicer weather it's nice to get some wear out of my plazzo's or linen trousers, these shoes helped add a little bit of height without looking like I was about to go clubbing! I have found them very comfortable and have worn them quite a few times, but not recently as the weather has been terrible as of late and you would never think it was supposed to be summer! I am hoping to get a lot more wear out of these shoes, I wore them daily in the nicer weather and they looked really nice. I have a tattoo on my foot and it showed this off nicely too and the shoe part is just a slim knotted band across the toes and leading up the side of the foot to the sling back. Not only have I worn them with trousers but also with denim shorts and a dress and they look very nice on. The best thing for me though was the comfort as I do tend to walk a lot, with the wedge being quite low I had comfort as well as style. The coral colour I have is nice and bright and I thought they looked more modern in this colour and they go with a lot of the clothes in my wardrobe. Whilst I see them more as a casual shoe there is no reason why they couldn't be worn for a night out but I prefer something with a little more height for a night out, they would be perfect for a lazy afternoon in a beer garden though! Having worn them quite a few times now I can say that it is a good quality shoe, they show little signs of wear and whilst I did end up marking them on the side this soon came off with a scrub using a wetwipe. They are a canasy sort of material on the top so they are not just a simple wipe clean material but marks can be removed with a bit of elbow grease! Thanks for reading :o) x
I was shopping with a friend of mine for a decent pair of wedges to match her dress. We had actually already bought a pair from another store but when she tried these Navy Wedges on she had to take the others back. They are not only Great Value for Money they are comfortable and easy to walk comfortably in. She has wide feet and tends to struggle to find comfortable summer shoes but these have been perfect for her as they are flexible without losing their shape. The wedge height was perfect for the wedding she was attending as a long day on her feet meant she needed comfortable shoes. A great buy as due to the colour and the comfort she has been able to wear them for all occasions as highly versitile. They match most outfits. The only issue was having to add another hole in the link after a number of wears as the slingback had stretched. Went out and bought them in another colour - unfortunately I can not remember which! Must buy for any fashionista - navy wedges are a wardrobe essential
I went into my local New Look store to try and find some shoes for my friend's wedding which was at the weekend. The wedding was very casual and was going to be outside (thankfully it was a lovely, warm day!). The dress I was wearing could either be dressed up or down. It was blue in colour with beige flowers, so ideally I wanted a pair of beige/off white coloured shoes. Unfortunately all the beige style shoes I found in my local New Look store, none of them were my size. I kept walking round the shoe section looking at the different shoes and then thought maybe I could go for blue instead to match the dress. I finally found these shoes which were a perfect blue as they matched the colour of the dress I was wearing. I didn't want any shoes with a really big heel and I didn't want anything too dresses up. ~ THE SHOES ~ The shoes are wedges and are available in sizes 4 - 9. The wedges come in 3 different colours including Navy, Coral & Black Pattern. I chose the Navy colour as my dress was this colour. The shoes have a cork wedge heel and are open toe, with a sling back buckle fastening. I would describe the rest of the material on the shoe as Canvas as it has the feel and look of canvas. The shoes cost me £15.99 which I thought was reasonable. Not only would the shoes look great with my dress but they would look great with jeans, dresses and skirts during the summer as well. The shoes were great as they looked casual, but could probably be dressed up a little as well. I range in shoe sizes but am normally a size 6 when it comes to heels. I tried on the wedges and the 5 were a little too tight so I decided to go for the size 6 as these felt more comfortable and not as tight at the others. The height of the wedge is approximately 3 inches so they aren't really high like some of the other wedges I saw in the shop. I wore the shoes to my friend's wedding and I was expecting them to hurt my feet a little. Although the ground I had to walk on wasn't the flattest I managed to walk fine in these without wobbling or falling over. I wore the shoes for approximately 5 hours and my feet didn't really hurt at all when walking around in the shoes. I didn't dance in the shoes; how-ever I think I would have done this very easily. The shoes were comfortable to wear and the straps didn't dig into my feet or rub, causing blisters or sores. When I eventually got home and took the shoes off my feet only hurt a tiny bit as this I was surprised by. As the shoes aren't very high and are very summery looking, I can wear these shoes casually with jeans, a dress or skirt when going to town or out for a meal/to a pub. For £15 I think these shoes are well worth the money as they seem to be made very strong and are comfortable to wear. I would recommend these to others, especially if you don't like wearing really high shoes as these are perfect. The shoes earn a well deserved 5 out of 5 stars. (review may also appear on ciao)
