I love love LOVE New Look shoes, they are so great. Great quality at a great price! They have such a broad range of shoes from flats to platforms, plain to all over sparkly, they have a shoe for every person and every occasion! I am a size 5 which is one of, if not the most, common shoe size, so I can't comment on any other size, but I never have an issue with finding the perfect shoe for me.
I'm only 5'5", so I do like a bit of height during the day. I prefer a boot to a heel because I like the extra support that the shoe just will not come off! Because the heel is a low-mid wedge, they are super comfortable for every day wear.
The material is quite sturdy which means that the shoe feels like it will last a long time. There's not much give for anyone with wider than normal feet, even my feet can rub slightly on the small toe. However, New Look do have a 'wide fit' range of many of their shoes.
These shoes are really great for a spring/autumn time look. However as they are suede, try to wear them on a day with no rain! Although you can get suede protection, so that they are safe against rain, it will change the colour of the shoe.
Overall, these are a great pair of shoes, I wear them for a casual day out, a girls night out and a day in the office.
If you have read any of my reviews you will know that I am a complete shoeaholic! I work very hard for my money and feel that I should have a few nice things in life such as shoes! Despite my usual expensive taste in brands such as Kurt Geiger, Carvela I will quite happily shop elsewhere just as long as the quality is up to scratch as I like my shoes to last not fall apart within 6 months and then have to replace them.
Whilst recently shopping in New Look for a few new winter warmers I of course browsed their shoe selection. New Look shoes for me have been a bit hit or miss but given their very reasonable prices you don't end up breaking the bank buying a pair. I was immediately drawn to the New Look Lace Up Low Wedge Ankle Boots as I had wanted something similar with a smaller heel and at £24.99 a pair I was naughty and picked up a pair in dark grey and light brown (basically beige)!
The ankle boots come in black, khaki, tan, light brown and dark grey which I think is a great choice of colours and I opted for dark grey and the light brown being the colours I knew I would get the most wear out of. They are made from a synthetic material which has suede like effect to it which gives it a nice look and of course texture. I do think however that they could easily get damaged in the wet weather and the material is quite thin so investing in a suitable protector may be worth it to make them last longer.
The boots have a nice round toe which is actually quite wide when you look down at them when on your feet which makes no difference to me but in the picture on the website (that I added when suggesting this product) they do look narrower than they are in real life so for those with wider feet these shouldn't be a problem. They are laced all the way to the top with colour matching laces and are already threaded for you when you buy the boots. The boots come to just over your ankle and are slightly padded around the top which is nice and don't fit too tightly either but then they don't gape, you basically have enough room to wear a pair of skinny jeans with them but nothing thicker.
The wedge heel is enclosed within the same fabric as the ankle boots which is a nice design effect. The heels are just about 2.5 inches which I find a perfect height for going about town on a day to day basis. When they are on your feet they don't feel high at all which is of course quite nice for those that are quite tall anyway. The sole of the shoe is synthetic but incredibly thin and has obviously been glued to the shoe. This is my only concern that with constant wear will the sole come away from the actual shoe.
I've had my boots for a while now and found them incredibly comfortable from day one which was a little surprising considering how thin the sole actually is and you can feel this when wearing them. Also the material the boots are made out of is not overly thick but they do manage to keep your feet nice and warm. I bought a size 6 which I find fits just right not too big and not too small as a I am a 5 ½ but these do fit nicely. They have never rubbed or caused any irritation to my feet which is definitely a plus, they have simply been comfortable from day one.
I have worn them quite a lot and although the sole is quite thin they have worn really well including the heel as yes there are the usual wear marks but nothing major so I'm hoping that the sole is a little tougher than what I initially thought. However, for the price of £24.99 I shouldn't expect a lot but so far they have exceeded my expectations and have managed to become a pair of ankle boots I wear on a regular occasion as they just add a nice casual look to a pair of skinny jeans.
If wanting a pair of ankle boots that won't break the bank then these should definitely be looked at especially when they come in so many useful colours. For the price they are well made and are comfortable so for me I am happy with them and would definitely recommend them. I do however think they won't last for more than a year possibly 18 months so for that reason I am only giving them 4 stars.
