Advantages: comfortable, can wear for long periods, plain, appropriate for work
Disadvantages: full price, design, plain, school shoey
Last time I was looking for a new pair of pumps I just couldn't find anything I like. Trusting that New Look shoes are pretty good quality and because of a lack of anything else nice I opted for these plain black pumps.
They cost £19.99 but at the time I got 20% off with student discount so they worked out at around £16 which wasn't too bad. I knew I could wear them to work too so was happy to pay this much for a comfortable and versatile shoe.
The shoes are a basic ballet pump style and made in a black faux leather material. Over the body of the shoe there is a diamond pattern stitched into the shoe in almost a quilted style. The pattern isn't all that obvious from far away but adds a little bit of interest to an otherwise boring shoe. To add a little more interest they also have a patent toe and a bow on the top rim by the toes. These details make the shoe a little more interesting but overall the look is a little dull and 'school shoe' like to me.
The sole of the shoe is pretty much flat with a very slight heel to it. This is made from rubber and is pretty flexible which makes them relatively comfortable. I did find them a little tricky to wear in because of the stiff material of the shoe but once I'd worn them in they are pretty comfortable to wear even for long periods. As with any flat shoe you get a bit of aching in your feet but no more than other similarly priced pumps.
I've found these have lasted me pretty well. 4 months down the line and I am still able to wear these with little sign of them falling apart yet. There are dirty marks which show more on black but these could probably be sponged off if I was bothered.
I didn't spend a huge amount on these but probably a bit more than I usually would. I have to say for £20 I'd expect more of a design but for £16 I'm pretty happy with them because they've lasted so well.
Overall, not the most exciting looking shoe but it does the job and doesn't cost too much.
Summary: Not the prettiest shoe but it does the job.
