“ Brand: New Look „
These shoes are so pretty! I hear angels sing when I look at them. My first pair of heels was a pair just like this, from New Look but were blue glittery.
New Look do great shoes, really comfortable, long lasting, such a wide variety & suit all styles.
These shoes would suit a 50's retro kind of style, the flared skirt, bandana in hair look. However if worn with a black tank top, leather jacket & wet look leggings, the shoes would also fit a rocker style. The style isn't for everyone however, limiting who would buy them, but I would definitely suggest people give them a go!
The bow is a satin material, and really give a cute girly feel to them. The denim look is really on trend at the moment, and I doubt will ever go out of style!
The shoes are a little high for me to wear for a 'day' look, but I think are really pretty for maybe a wedding or party. I wouldn't wear them out clubbing, just because of the height, I personally prefer a more lower, more comfortable shoe for long wearing.
The only downside is that with time, the satin can get stained from spills or damaged through general wear and tear. Also, if the shoe doesn't quite fit, the back of the shoe can rub on your ankle. But they are so worth it!
After reading a very complimentary review about these denim heels I decided to take a chance and order a pair from the New Look website. I don't really like ordering shoes online as being a half-size I like to try them on before laying cash out for a pair that might not fit well.
There were a couple of colour options available, I went for the light blue shoes with red bow that you can see above. I can't remember how much they cost now, but comparing them to other New Look shoes I'd say they're probably around the £15 mark.
The heel is just under four inches, but these are easier to walk in than a lot of shoes of this height as the part that meets the body of the shoe is quite chunky. They're very stable while walking and also surprisingly comfortable to stand around in, something that was confirmed when I went to Alice's (very boring) dance concert at school. I was stupidly late and couldn't get a seat so ended up standing in these for forty-five minutes - my feet weren't too achy after that time and the burning sensation wasn't as bad as it could have been! There's no platform on the front of the shoe but the sole is nicely cushioned so this gives a softish base to walk on. The toe is shaped well to make the shoes bang on trend style-wise, but also very comfortable.
I love the shaping of the shoe as it's perfect for holding the arch of my foot, the fabric feels quite stiff and this actually makes them more comfortable for me personally as I like the feel of support. They also have quite a cool feel, which I like about a pair of shoes that have been styled as a summery choice. The overall fit is perfect; I bought a size five and they fit well, I do vary between a four and a five so this shows the sizing is a bit on the small size.
When I ordered them I was a bit sceptical about the red bow, I don't tend to go for tweeness and I had worried that these were the wrong side of cute and sassy. They don't feel particularly childish, which I'd worried about, and although the bow takes a bit of getting used to, I personally don't think it's overboard.
I like the styling of them; I've found they're not as versatile as I thought they would be (not really matching any of the jeans I have), but with certain outfits they are quirkily fab. They're nice to wear and are a fun shoe rather than something you'd wear to feel sexy, Mark doesn't like them at all as a going out shoe as he thinks they look much too casual compared to the type I usually wear.
I like them though. I think they'll have quite a short lifespan for me as the bow will start looking dated soon, but if I can get at least a few wears out of them over this summer then it's money well spent.
I was browsing the New Look website recently and spotted these denim shoes with a cute bow. I thought they would look lovely with white trousers, cropped or otherwise. The shoes are the Nautical Denim Heels, they cost £19.99 and are available in2 colour choices. Mid blue denim with a red bow or black/grey denim with a black bow. I opted for the mid blue with a red bow. I thought these looked fresh and summery although I was a bit worried they would look a bit "Minnie mouseish".
The shoes are a classic court shoe with a 9.5cm heel and they don't have a platform sole. Not the highest around but enough height to look stylish and elongate your legs. The shoes are described as denim and are made from woven fabric. This is a mid blue in colour but hen you get close to them they actually have a very thin white/grey stripe. The heel is covered in the same material too.
The bow on the colour I bought is red and made from a ribbed material. The bow sits on the side of the shoe and gives them a very girly cute appearance. The same red material is used to decorate around the front and sides of the shoe. It s threaded through the shoe like large stitches. It goes around the front and part way up the sides. I was slightly disappointed to see that where the red material is pushed through the shoe there is no little metal ring to prevent fraying. I suspect in time this is what will happen.
My shoes arrived promptly and on opening the box I was pleased with how these shoes looked. They look summery and fresh and not at all Minnie mouseish. I ordered a 6 (39 Euro) which is my regular size and was pleased that they fitted perfectly.
I've worn my Nautical Denim shoes a lot since I've had them, particularly with the nicer weather. They look great dressed up with trousers and a jacket but equally as nice dressed down with white cropped trousers and a T shirt or jeans. Despite looking nice the shoes have not been as comfortable as I had hoped. The heels are rather hard and have rubbed me a bit. I've experienced the same around the front of the shoes although they are feeling better now.
I am pleased with how these shoes look, they are nicely balanced and despite rubbing a bit they have been easy to walk in. They are not a shoe I would wear for work but out of work they suit both daytime and evenings. My only concern with them is that they will fray around the edges but on the whole they were worth the money I paid for them.
Shoes. Probably my biggest expense - I spend more on them than make-up and that really is saying something. But in my opinion a girl (or boy!) can never have to many pairs of shoes and if you get a lot of use out of each pair then why not treat yourself every now and again right? These 'New Look Nautical Bow Heels' were actually pointed out to me by my mom when she was browsing the New Look site looking for something for herself but as soon as she saw these she knew they were exactly my style and so I bought them right away - my mom rarely steers me wrong with clothes and shoes LOL - I think she wanted to borrow them for herself personally hehe. But Ive been overjoyed with my purchase so far because these are unlike any shoes I own and they are so quirky and cute - I cant get enough of them and Ive been getting tonnes of use out of them in this gorgeous weather!
Price: £19.99 + P&P if buying online.
Stockists: New Look & newlook.com
Sizes: Only available in sizes 4, 5 & 6 online - more sizes might be available in store.
Shades: There are 2 types of this shoe either a Red bow or a Black bow - I personally own the Red pair as I preferred those and that bow certainly stands out more from the light denim material.
Other Info: Made mostly from man-made denim material, the bow is 100% cotton & New Look do recommend you take of the material of these shoes with a special protector kit. Im unsure where you would buy a protector kit from but I dont think it is a necessary buy as these are pretty easy to clean even with the denim material.
If you are buying these shoes online like I did you wont be disappointed - they look the same in reality as they do in the image so you wont be let down with these! As in the image these shoes are made from a light blue denim material which is the same material - look and feel - as you would get if you bought a denim jacket which I assumed would be very hard to clean - thankfully these dont get dirty easily at all but when they do a scrub with a baby wipe will remove the dirt without damaging the material so thats why I dont think buying a protector kit is totally necessary for these shoes. The denim continues all down the heel at the back which is around 3-4 inches high which for me is a little below the average height of my shoes but that makes these shoes much more suited for casual wear than most heels I own. The heel is quite small and chunky which again is worlds away from the sky-high, thin heels I tend to favour but that actually makes these shoes much comfier and easy to walk in - they are one of the few heels that I own that I wear out in the daytime for shopping etc so thats a massive bonus for me. The denim on the heel does scuff slightly easier than the rest of the shoe but I think thats to be expected and the scuffinf doesnt ruin the design and it doesnt happen until you have worn these a good few times so I dont consider it a major disadvantage - the heels are always the first to scuff with me, regardless of the material covering them.
The bow on the front of these shoes is absolutely stunning in my opinion and definitely gives these shoes their nautical feel. The red bow is quite large meaning it is noticable and you can see where it is threaded through the side of the shoe which is a lovely added touch I think but it doesnt make the overall design look too OTT I dont think. The bow adds a stunning and girly touch to the shoe without making them look too much or not suitable for casual wear - the bright red colour cretainly stands out from the light denim so the bow is instantly noticable and without it I dont think anyone would look at these shoes twice. Again the bow seems to be very high quality as Ive owned these shoes for about 2 months now - wearing them loads - and the bow has no signs of wear and it isnt falling off so the bow is as good quality as the denim so far and long may that continue! These would be very boring shoes without that bow and I think its stunning - very girly and definitely nautical! Now as these shoes have a slightly lower and thicker heel than Id normally go for it means I can wear them out in the day as I can walk for ages in these without them rubbing or annoying my feet - it feels as if Im walking around in flats! They are comfy enough for everyday wear which isnt something Id normally say about heels - these are for everyone dressed up or down!
These can be dressed up as well though so they arent just for wearing while shopping around town. Ive worn these to the pub/up town on numerous occasions and those are the few occasions when I havent fallen on my backside or ended yp dancing with my shoes hanging off my handbag so they are very comfy and wearable, wherever your wearing them to. Overall I cannot recommend these shoes highly enough they look gorgeous, they are versatile & very comfortable - they are perfect for wearing all the time. Oh and they match everything because even though the bow is quite bright the main body of the shoe is very light & neutral so they can be matched with any styles/colours. Get some before they all sell out!!
