“ Brand: New Look / Type: Boots „
I spent a long time this year hunting up and down the high street for new boots which would be smart to wear to work or with jeans, but which had a sensible heel which would not cripple me after five minutes. Every shop i looked in had beautiful boots but all with 4 inch stilettos which are just not practical. I then stumbled across these little shoe boots in New Look and they were spot on. I was initially a bit unsure about the shape of them as I thought they wouldn't offer much support for the ankle. I tried them on in the store however and found that for new boots, they were very comfortable. They really don't feel like boots at all and are very lightweight and liberating. The heel is a nice height at around 2" and I could instantly walk easily in these. They cost £22.99 when I was in, which was an offer, so I bought them in both black and the nude. They did take a little bit of softening up but now that I have broken these in they are great. The black have been worn the most and are now like slippers. I can wear them all day and they don't pinch or hurt at all. The only criticism I have of these boots is the material of the sole and the lack of grip, i do find that in wet weather the heel can slip and I need to take extra care on smooth surfaces, but I think when you get used to them, this is not such an issue.
It was my birthday in September and I had quite a few family members come down to visit me and we went for a meal. As I knew in advance that we were going to be going out I made sure that I planned my outfit ahead - I had it all sorted apart from the shoes. Despite having a huge shoe collection I just couldn't seem to find any that looked nice with my lace dress - pumps were a no-no, boots were too grungey and all of my heels were way too high to get away with at a day time family meal. I decided to treat myself to these after seeing them in New Look as they were absolutely perfect and I still wear them now and again if I'm going out but can't be bothered with my taller heels. These have a three inch heel which is nice and chunky compared to the heels that I usually wear and it is really sturdy, making the heels easy to walk in. They're really versatile and they're suitable for a range of ocassions. Obviously I don't wear these day to day but if me and my boyfriend are going to the cinema's or something on an evening then I will pop these on as they look really nice and they make even leggings and a nice top or skinny jeans and a blouse etc look much more dressed up while still being casual. I paid around £20.00 for them which believe it or not is the retail price, not a sale price - they are an absolute bargain and they look a lot more expensive - if I saw a stranger wearing these and had to guess the price I'd say around £50.00. The gold zip and zip trail on the side makes them look that bit more glitzy as well without going overboard and tacky; it's nice and subtle. The zip trail is well made - not cheap and plasticy and I don't find that it gets stuck or anything. Also, the golden colour is still nice and bright after a couple months with no chipped bits which, considering the price is pretty impressive. I have the pale nude pair but they are also available in black. I personally think that the black ones looked a little generic and the nude ones are a lot nicer in my opinion. I also chose the nude because pastel colours are really popular this year and they go well with my pale blue jeans. The upper material of the shoes is synthetic but designed to look like suede and it does look very realistic and it is nice and soft to the touch. The top of the shoe dips down but covers the most part of my ankles and the upper material doesn't rub or irritate my skin. The material is nice and thick and good quality but one downside is that it does get dirty quite easily and the type of material makes it hard to clean the shoes but as I wear mine mainly when I'm walking on pavement or in an indoor area this isn't too much of an issue and if they do get a little dirty then I just wipe them down with a baby wipe which I find is effective at removing any dirt. The shoes are available in sizes UK 3-9 (half sizes aren't available) and I got my usual size five. It is a little bit of a squeeze getting them on as they're a little narrow and I have quite wide feet but once on they fit like a glove and they're incredibly comfortable and easy to walk in - they don't squish my feet or rub against my ankles and I am easily able to walk around for reasonably long periods (eg walking around the shopping centre and so on) while wearing them. Overall, recommended.
THE DESIGN These are shoe boots with a 3" heel. They have an upper of soft suede and this same fabric covers the heel for a sleek look. The front of the boots feature two golden zips, one on each side of the foot. There are few visible seams on the boots so they look very smooth on the eye. COMFORT I like the height of these heels because I spend a lot of time on my feet. I am due to go back to work in two weeks following my maternity leave and will wear these often because the heel and soft sole means I can stand and walk in them for longer periods without my feet aching. The boots have a pointed toe but do not feel tight on the front of my feet or my toes, I bought them in a size 5 and they are very comfortable and fit snug even though I am a size 4 usually. DURABILITY The boots look dirty quickly because they are so pale but they are easy to clean because of them being made from fake suede and not the real fabric. They go patchy in colour if they get wet but dry with no stains or watermarks. I clean them with baby shampoo and warm water when they get dirty and dry them in our warm conservatory. I have worn them a lot and the heel is still tight on both shoes and neither of the toes have scuffed or marked. I think they will last for a long time and I plan to look after them because they are so stylish and comfortable. WHAT I THINK I like the shape of these boots because the opening is flat to my skin with no gaping so I can wear them with jeans, trousers or a skirt. The zips are a bit sharp so they will rip your tights if you're unlucky, I mainly wear them with jeans and a thin pair of socks and sometimes the zips will pull those too. The boots look smart when worn with bootcut trousers and I would wear them to a business appointment if they complimented what I was wearing. These are comfortable to walk in because the heel is wide to support your foot as you stride. They do not wobble as I walk and the sole feels like it is cushioning the bottoms of my feet when I am walking or standing. They were only £20 but look and feel like they are a costlier pair of boots and I am happy with my purchase. 5 Dooyoo Stars.
I am a big fan of New Look and for me to enter their stores is a curse as I always end up leaving with something I like/love but don't necessarily need! One of my purchases earlier this year being a pair of their shoe boots. Costing £19.99 they are reasonable value footwear, which I got in black (but they also come in beige as the picture shows) as for me black is more versatile to go with a mixture of different outfits (and I have a similar cream pair from Asos and I really don't need THAT many shoe boots lol!). They have quite a rounded toe (although it looks pointy in this picture) and comes up below the ankle and covers the foot quite like a slipper leaving, some of the foot exposed. The material of the boot is a type of suede material with lovely detail of gold zips on the side. To put the boot on I do find it is necessary to open the zip, as otherwise the shoe is quite narrow and would make for a tight fitting squeeze to put it on! Size wise, I am a 5, and New Look footwear is generally true to their sizing so I got this pair in a 5 (European 38) and they fit perfectly. Wearing them, the heel is quite thin, and I am not great at walking in heels as it is, and much prefer wedges as they give more solid support however, the heel on these isn't too high so I can walk in these quite easily. Given I have only worn these twice, both occasions out to dinner, I wasn't wincing in pain by the end but I do think perhaps if I wore them on a night out I might be crying a little bit! (But that's more me being a flat shoe person as I don't wear heels on a daily basis!) In terms of comfort they are no miracle shoe, and there is of course the slight ache I get with any pair of heels on the balls of my feet but really this is minor and compared to tons of other shoes I own these are a lot more comfortable! Style wise, I have worn these with jeans and a nice top and they go brilliantly, and I have worn them with some leather panelled leggings on the second occasion and both times they went with my outfit to perfection. I personally wouldn't wear them with dresses or skirts as I think I have quite skinny ankles and don't really like how tiny they look when I wear heels that aren't wedges or with a strap around my ankle which hide this fact. With this shoe boot and my skinny ankles, I do feel they look exposed so I prefer to wear items that cover my legs up however, I think on other people they will look amazing with a dress and would elongate and display someone else with a lovely set of pins! These shoe boots are very durable, and I have not noticed any scuffing on the heels or damage to the suede material so although they cost a lot less than other shoes they are of good quality and I know I will be wearing them on future days and nights out! I would definitely recommend them to any one wanting a nice, versatile looking shoe boot which can be worn on many occasions and are comfortable!
When it comes to shoes, I often opt for flat shoes in the day simply because I am not the best at walking in heels, and I just find them quite comfortable. Shoe boots seem to be all the trend at the moment however, and I really think they are beautiful shoes. I had been looking everywhere for my perfect pair, and I decided to go for these beauties from New Look. These shoes are available in most New Look stores and online on their website www.newlook.com. They retail at £19.99 which I think is a very reasonable price for a good quality pair of shoes. I also used student discount and got them for a smidgen cheaper which was nice. Just a quick note before I get started, these are available in black as well if they are more to your taste. I went for the nude, beige colour of these shoes because I thought they would team well with denim jeans, and I just think it is a pretty shade, and something a bit different than black which I always buy in shoes! The colour of them is shown in the image, and it is is a very versatile nude, meaning you could wear these with a variety of different coloured outfits. The shoe itself is half boot and half shoe, which I think is lovely. The heel on the boot is quite small, only a couple of inches or so, meaning they are very easy to walk in, even for those that find heels quite a task! Although my feet aren't extremely wide, I find they are a little fatter than most, and often in New Look I go for their wide fit option. However, these shoe boots are quite roomy, and I was able to fit in them without having to go a size up which is nice. Once they are on, they are very comfortable considering they are heels. I have not found that they rub my feet at all and I have experienced no discomfort in wearing these. There is a small zip on both shoes, and they are more for the design purpose than anything. As my feet are a little wide, I find that I have to undo the zip all the way to get my feet in, but the nice thing about the zip is that it holds your feet well in place, as well as giving the shoe a lovely design. In New Look, there is a pair of shoe boots the exact same as this, yet they do not have the zip. I find that the zip on these shoes really brings out the shoe and gives the appearance of a much higher quality. When it comes to shoe boots, I have found that sometimes you are limited to what you can wear them with. I personally like to team these shoes with denim jeans and any top. They look lovely with denim, and I think they are great for wearing both in the day and night alike. Some of the braver people might like to team these with a nice dress or shorts for a night out look, but I tend to stick to jeans as I think this is what they look best with. I don't personally think they suit skirts or dresses too well for in the daytime, but could be used of the night a little easier. I find that when I wear these, I do get a lot of compliments from other people as I think a good pair of shoes can really bring out an outfit, so I like to wear quite plain clothes with these, and team it with some nice accessories. They are comfortable to wear throughout the day, and the heel is small enough to make them perfect to wear for everyday tasks such as shopping. As most heels, they do make your feet ache if you have been walking around for too long, but this does not bother me too much. The only issue to date I have found with these shoes is that as they are made out of suede, they are not particularly weather proof. I tend to avoid wearing them if I know I'm going to be outside a lot, as the rain can really damage suede shoes. Other than this, I could not fault these lovely shoes. Overall, I have always found that New Look shoes offer not just good value, but good quality shoes. These shoe boots are gorgeous, and have quickly become my new favourite shoes. They are this seasons shoes, so you will still be able to pick them up now (Aug 2012), and I would urge everyone to go and check them out before they're gone! A lovely, sturdy and good quality pair of shoes from New Look, which look absolutely beautiful. Thanks for reading.
