Advantages: Flattering, cheap
Disadvantages: Sizing, easily ruined, lack of padding within the shoes
I quickly needed (wanted!) a cheap pair of nude court shoes to go with a dress and I found these on New Look's website for a low price of twenty-four pounds, ninety-nine pence.
Although they appear boring, these particular coloured shoes are in high demand and can be quite expensive due to the illusion they give of elongating women's legs when worn with a skirt or dress, so finding a pair for this price was a pleasant surprise.
These platforms have a patent finish and are described as 'Light Brown' on their website- although I feel they are more of a Nude/ tan colour, and the front of them are pointed into closed, rounded toes.
The heels are slim but sturdy and at 13.8 cm they are considerably high. However, your feet do not arch in an uncomfortable way due to the platform fronts which make the shoes more comfortable to walk in.
Inside the shoes are slightly disappointing. I feel they should have slightly more padding than the thin layer going from the bottom of your heel down to the balls of your feet. There is none beneath or above your toes meaning the tops of your feet, just before your toes, do feel uncomfortable where the closed off toe begins. The backs of your heels are provided with no padding at all and a rough fabric. I do think they'll be better off and more comfortable once they are severely worn in but it's the getting there that is the problem.
Being patent they are easily wiped clean but any minor impacts cause dents and even the slightest scrapes or rough contact to the shoes are there to stay unfortunately. I take care of my shoes and always place the patent pairs i own down softly but I have still noticed a small scratch to one of the heels, revealing a very obvious white colour from underneath. Do beware ordering these shoes online because they do not arrive boxed. Instead they are wrapped with paper and minor padding, so if they were to be bashed around they will dent quite easily. Luckily for me mine were not.
The sizing is not perfect in this style. I only knew to opt for a size five when buying them online instead of my usual six as I had previously tried on the same type of shoes in a New Look store. This is not particularly practical for those not used to shoes from New Look so if you are unsure I would advise you to go into your nearest store. These shoes are available from size four up to an eight.
The colours available online and in all stores are chestnut and black. You can also purchase them in corn yellow and in red but will only find them online and in their flagship store. They are all the same price.
Overall I think they are a very flattering pair of shoes but typically you get what you pay for and these were not expensive ( though i think they should be sold for cheaper!) so don't expect them to last you for a long time.
If worn on a night out to clubs i really think these platforms will be ruined by the next day so in reality you would pay for a pair of shoes to be worn once.
Summary: A flattering but easily ruined pair of shoes
