“ Brand: New Look / Type: Platform Shoes „
I'm not a massive fan of heels - when it comes to the style vs pain game I'm all about being comfortable. So when I was looking for a nice pair of shoes for an evening out I was surprised when I was drawn to these. I knew I'd have burning feet by the end of the night but they were so pretty and looked so harmless, so I bought them.
I do think New Look have struck this perfect balance of designing and selling relatively cheap shoes that are still pretty decent quality and manage to have instant shelf appeal. These shoes are undeniably beautiful and this is the sole reason I bought them, even when my inner voice was saying 'they'll tear your feet apart'.
At the time I bought these heels they came in two colours: red and nude. I opted for the nude ones like they are shown in the picture because I felt the red were a little too bold and wouldn't go with lots of different outfits in the same way the nude ones would. The fabric is extremely soft which gives them a real feel of luxe and there is a beautiful satin bow which runs across the front and adds a real feminine charm to them. It also makes them great for the festive season because they almost look like little presents!
I have issues walking in heels anyway because I don't wear them very often but I have to say I did find these especially tricky. I think the added height from the platform it what pushed me over the edge and made them pretty tricky but after a bit of practice I was competent enough to be able to try them on a night out.
The good thing about them is they feel very solid, though they felt high to me the heel didn't feel at all flimsy so I knew that if I was going to fall it would be totally my own doing. I did find these uncomfortable to wear for longer than an hour but no more so than any other heels I've ever worn. I had the usual achey soles but I had come to expect this anyway so it's not a real negative of the shoe itself.
Considering that heels are ridiculously priced and that most people are willing to pay over the odds for them these are pretty reasonably priced at £22.99. I got extra money off from my student discount which makes these a real bargain. Despite the obvious pain of wearing them they do look really nice, elongate my legs and make me feel super feminine and sexy.
Overall, a lovely pair of heels that have almost converted me.
When it comes to shoes I am quite picky but one of my favourite ranges of cheap shoes are those you find in New Look. I would say that not all of them are great, there are some cheap and tacky looking ones but if you really look around you can find some gems. It was on a look around that I found this cute pair of satin bow platforms, nice looking, not cheap at all and well worth the £20.99 I paid for them. I purchased them over a year ago and they do not have them in the store anymore which is a shame as I could do with another pair and wish I had bought two at the time.
For those of you who have never visited a New Look store I would say that it's definitely a teenager store. You can find a New Look on just about every British high street. It also has stores in Belgium, France, the Republic of Ireland and UAE. To me New Look . The clothes are very on-trend, fairly cheap and of an ok quality. I would say that their position on the high street would be lower than Topshop/Oasis/Warehouse etc and sort of on a par with Dorothy Perkins, etc. They are to me a step above Primark.
The shoes are a easy to wear court shoe with a somewhat rounded toe. They are easy to slip on and wear and don't really have any places that they rub on my feet which is great as I hate shoes that rub. I find court shoes are always quite an easy style for me to wear which was why I was attracted to these shoes in the first place. The heel is fairly high and thin on these shoes but the great thing is they have a platform on the front bottom of the shoe, under the toe part and so this perfectly balances out the high part of the back of the shoe and the heel and makes you feel like you are walking on a platform rather than a big thin heel at the back. This is a really good design part of the shoe and I think it's what makes them really comfortable. I can wear these shoes for quite a long while without them rubbing as I think eventually, not matter how comfortable a shoe is, there comes a time during the day/evening when your feet hurt and you need to take your shoes off. There is not much cushioning in the inside of the shoe so I think this is why but as they are a cheap shoe you do not expect them to be the best thing ever made.
I bought a cream/white pair with a black satin bow but I believe when they were in the stores you could also buy a black pair with a black bow also. The cream and black provide a nice contrast and make these shoes quite striking. The bow starts from the bottom of the shoe and ties in a bow at the front of the shoe. They can be quite a dressy shoe but you can also wear them casually with a nice pair of jeans. The shoes have lasted well and only the little black part of the heel that comes off and can be replaced has worn down so I can easily replace these soon and make the shoe look new again. All in all these are a great cheap shoe that have worked well for me and my style.
I love shoes a little too much at times hence the huge collection. Within my collection I have some very pretty but expensive shoes therefore wearing these types of shoes for a night out is a big no-no because I can guarantee there will be a spillage of drinks over my shoes (usually my own fault!). Therefore high street stores like New Look are perfect for finding shoes for these occasions as you can purchase a pair of pretty yet cheap shoes, which is why I purchased the New Look Satin Bow Platform.
***New Look Satin Bow Heels***
The New Look Satin Bow Heels are a nude satin almond toed peep toe court shoe. The shoe has a black velvet bow detail across the front of the foot.
The shoe has a 5 inch heel however also has a 1 inch concealed platform.
The shoes are available in UK sizes 3-8.
The shoes are available in New Look stores and online at www.newlook.co.uk . The selling price of these shoes is £22.99 which I think is very cheap for a pair of high heeled shoes like this. I actually purchased these in the sale in January and the shoes were only £12.99.
I purchased these shoes directly from my local New Look store. The shoes do not come in a box but for £12.99 I wouldn't have expected them to be lavishly packaged!
The shoes look great. The cream satin is shiny but not overly shiny so the shoes look cheap. The black velvet bow contrasts well. Nude shoes are great for elongating the legs and the design of the shoe with no straps across the ankle also helps to elongate legs. I find these shoes are great to wear with neutral coloured outfits but also add some colour and contrast to plain black outfits. The peep toe on the shoe is quite small therefore only exposes my big toe and second toe, rather than all of my toes.
When I first tried on the shoes I did feel the shoe felt quite stiff and was not stretching to suit the shape of my foot. However after around 10 minutes the shoe did feel a lot more comfortable and flexible but still very stiff. I was very impressed that when my foot first went into the shoe they felt very comfortable under the foot as there is quite a soft foot bed in the shoe. This is very comfortable if you are wearing these for long periods of time and standing. I often find after a night out wearing high heels, mixed with lot of (dodgy) dancing my feet ache, however with these shoes it was not the case. I did find that because the shoes are quite stiff, the edge of the shoes around the heels and front of the foot rub slightly. On my first wear my feet felt sore but I did not have any blisters. After the first wear I did not experience this again luckily.
I am quite experienced in walking in high heels and did find that although the shoes appear high they are reasonably easy to walk in. The 1 inch platform makes the heels feel not as high as they are and the heel feels quite sturdy when you walk. Although the shoes are quite stiff they do grip your foot as you walk meaning they do not slip off and make walking more difficult. The main issue I do have with these shoes is that they have no grip on the sole. The sole is made from a completely smooth plastic so when you walk on a smooth surface such as wood or tiles you have very little grip under your foot therefore need to take care when walking you do not slip over.
In terms of cleaning the shoes because these are made from satin it is advisable to spray with a shoe protector before wear. I sprayed my shoes with this type of spray but unfortunately it did not completely protect the shoes from stains. Because the main section of the shoe is made from a light satin material, the nature and colour of this means the shoes do pick up stains very easily, even after my first wear you could notice some light stains. I did try and sponge these marks off but they were not completely removed. After about 4 wears for different nights out these shoes do have about 4 or 5 stains on each and probably could only be worn if it was dark as the stains are quite noticeable, however because I only paid £12.99 for these shoes I am not too upset about this.
The wear and tear to the heel and sole is limited. This is because the sole and heel tip are made from quite a hard plastic. After 4 wears and a fair amount of walking I have found there is very little wear to the heel and would probably last for at least another 10 wears before the shoe needs re-heeled. I do not think the shoe would last this long and would probably be thrown away at this point.
These are a very pretty pair of shoes which look good and are comfortable to wear, even for long periods. The platform and design of the shoe makes these heels reasonably easy to walk in however you do need to take care as the sole of the shoe has no grip, so on smooth floors you do feel very unsteady.
For £12.99 these shoes were a bargain considering they do not look cheap and for a shoe of this price are well made, granted not to the same standard as a designer pair of shoes but perfect for a night out which is why I purchased these. The main downside to the shoe is the light satin material stains very easy and is difficult to clean but I would rather pay £12.99 for a pair of shoes made from a material like this rather than £50.
A fast "throw away" fashion type of shoe, rather than a shoe that you can wear for years.
I am a big fan of the shoes in New Look as they are usually some of the nicest on the high street at some of the best prices. They may not last me for years on end like some more expensive shoes might but I can usually get a good year or so of use out of them before they become too tatty to wear again.
I bought these satin bow platforms for a wedding I was attending to match a dress I had bought especially for the occassion.
The one's I own differ from the picture that dooyoo have as I got them in red instead of the nude colour but other than that they are identical.
The material is velvet which I am not normally a of of but this is quite smooth and not really fluffy if that makes sense. They are a peep toe and are finished off beautifully with a gorgeous satin bow which really makes them stand out.
Now I have no problem walking in a heel but these aren't overly high at around 2 1/2 inches and it feels quite strudy so shouldn't scare off anyone other than the most heel phobic of people.
The only thing which i can say I dislike about the aesthetic of these shoes is the platform on the front which to me just seems off by the tiniest amount. I personally think they would have looked better with it being just a cm smaller but this isn't a major thing and other than that they are really lovely looking shoes that look a lot more expensive than what I paid for them.
The price was £22.99 which is frankly a bagain for gorgous shoes. They aren't the most comfortable pair of shoes that I have bought from New Look and I do find that they pinch my toes and the heel is quite bad for rubbing but for a few hours at a time then they are fine.
Unfortunately although I have only had them a few months the fabric has started to come away on the left shoe which is a shame as I did enjoy wearing them but I can't complain too badly as they were cheap to buy originally and I have had plenty of wear out of them since.
I have never been a fan of high heels as I suffer quite badly from sore feet by even standing in heels for an hour or so. Last autumn we had a wedding to go to that required me buying new shoes.
After traipsing around the shops for ages and discounting my partner's please for me to buy heels, I relented and tried a pair of these stunning shoes on in New Look.
I fell in love with the look of the shoes the first moment I laid eyes on them. The bow on the front was so eye catching and the colours of cream and black went perfectly with my new dress. The size of the heel was putting me off though.
Gingerly putting my feet into them and holding onto my partner for dear life, I didn't think I would ever be able to stand up in them.
Immediately I realised that due to the wedge in the toe area of the shoes, my feet weren't going to be arched as much as they would in standard 4 inch heels. The height still worried me as I towered uncomfortably above levels that I am used to.
Tottering around the shop, I reluctantly admitted to my partner that in fact my feet felt more comfortable than I would have originally thought. I didn't feel too safe, but reasoned that this could be because I was on a tiled floor without any grip.
After being convinced to buy the shoes and part with my £22.99 which I actually thought was very reasonable for a nice looking pair of shoes. I have bought shoes plenty of times from New Look and the quality has always been of a good standard so I wasn't worried about the heels breaking off any time soon.
Trying my shoes out again at home, I started out on the carpet. I felt I had much more control, and realised that despite the heel being so thin, the wedge at the front provided a lot of support, evening out the balance.
The peep toe near the bow was placed well and shows just the edge of my big toe on each shoe. This enabled me to add a splash of colour if I chose to paint my nails a bright colour and add more effect to the shoes.
After getting used to the shoes, I packed plasters and wore them to the wedding. I knew I was going to end up with a blister, but was happy to realise that after the whole day, the back of the shoes felt soft against my skin and there was no redness on my skin at all.
Overall, I am pleased with how the shoes are wearing. They still look new after all these months and I haven't scuffed them once. I am uncertain of the grip on tiles, but on concrete and carpet etc, I feel I get a lot of support from my shoes. They were a great buy, and one I was pleased to take the chance on.
I really love shoes despite not having that many occasions to wear very nice looking ones, especially heels, but that doesn't stop me from buying them, particularly if they are on sale. Before Christmas, I bought a pair of these Satin Bow Platform heels from New Look, and I think they were a great buy! I paid £12.99 for my pair, reduced from £22.99, so even at full price they're a reasonable buy.
The shoes are made out of a satin-like shiny cream coloured material which looks very elegant and classy, and the peep-toe end of the shoe is topped off with a black satin bow which also runs down onto the platform bit of the shoe. There is black satin piping around the peep-toe and the edge of the rest of the shoe too which is a nice touch.
I think these shoes are lovely in their simplicity, they are very attractive and suitable for a wide range of occasions, as well as being elegant. The heel is around 3 inches high, meaning it's not so high that they are very hard to walk in, but high enough to add a good amount of height to me and elongate my legs, particularly when I'm wearing a dress. The heel is quite thin though (stiletto style) so I do find I still have to be careful where I'm putting my feet!
I've found that these shoes are comfortable for several hours when wearing them, but any longer and as with most heels, they do start to become painful, particularly on the balls of my feet where the pressure is greatest. If I don't take them off as soon as they start to hurt, my feet actually start to burn in these shoes - ah the price you pay to wear killer shoes eh? I've never found a pair of high heels that doesn't have that effect though, it's just how shoes are I'm afraid, and it's what Scholl's Party Feet were invented for.
I've worn these shoes out 7 or 8 times and they are still in very good condition. the rubber cap on the tip of the heel is still in excellent condition and is barely worn, so they're being quite durable too, which I wasn't expecting.
Overall, I really like these shoes. They are comfortable when worn for shorter periods of time (a few hours and there's no problem), look classy and elegant, and the peep-toe is a very cute addition.
I won't be wearing these again until the weather warms up, but I'm looking forward to doing so again in these, cheap but lovely shoes.
I am a big fan of new look and love the clothing and shoes they sell, everythings alway upto date and the latest fashion trends and is also not to expensive so im regularly in new look to treat my self.
I had my friends wedding coming up and was wearing a nude silk dress and had no shoes in my wardrobe to match the dress. It was another excuse for a shopping trip. Im small 5 foot nothing and always wear heels so they were perfect for me.
They cost £22.99 which is good but have recently seen them in the sale for £12.99. New Look have a great website so check it out.
The shoes are a nude cream colour in a satin finish, They have a velvet black bow that crosses the front of the toe area. They are peep toes which i love to show of my nail varnish. The heel is quite high roughly 3 1/2 inches and the platform is 3 cm.
I tried them on in the shop and they fitted my size 7 feet well and they were comfortable. When i got home i new i would be wearing them all day and night at the wedding and decided to wear them around the house to break them in, I wore them while doing the hovering and dusting, I felt like a wag! lol. I managed to beak them in and they were perfect.
They are so feminine and classy, New look shoes are brilliantly made considering the price. The platform sole made them extra comfy as your foot is not bent the whole 3 1/2 inches as. All my friends loved my shoes and have since lent them out a few times! I have another wedding coming up soon so i will get more wear out of them. They are perfect for weddings. The only thing i would say is they have a satin finish so make sure you dont spill your drink on them or they might stain and i think that would be hard to remove.
I give them 5 dooyoo stars
On a recent shopping trip with my daughter we ended up in New Look and I was talked, by her, in to treating myself to a few pairs of shoes in their sale. These satin bow shoes were one of the pairs that I picked up, in a size 6. I paid just £12.99 for my shoes, which was a saving of £10.00 and it seemed that most of the shoes I purchased had £10.00 knocked off the price making them very reasonable, even if they didn't last me very long as I was initially thinking that they wouldn't.
These shoes, like most New Look ones I saw, seem to come in sizes 3-8 which is about average for women's shoes but if you have larger feet then you will need to look elsewhere unfortunately.
These shoes are a shiny material which has a satin bow across the front and they have a peep toe end so that you can show off your new manicure or your favourite colour of nail varnish. The heel is fairly high on these at around 3 inches or so and there is rubber on the end of the heel protecting them from uneven rubbing or damage. The arch of the shoe is fairly high but then this is a reasonable sized heel so this is to be expected. There is not really any padding inside the shoe which is a shame as by the end of a night out I found that the ball of my foot was rather uncomfortable and I had to get out my Tipsy feet shoes to prevent further pain.
Overall I love the design of these shoes, the colours work very well and they are suitable for wearing with most pretty dresses that I have in my wardrobe. The satin bow along the front is fantastic as it brings attention to the front of your foot and then you have the peep toe section which means that you can show off your perfectly cared for toes. I don't wear peep toed shoes as much as enclosed ones but I found these to be quite comfortable. The heel is a reasonable height which obviously means that I am nice and tall on nights out but like I mentioned above, my feet do begin to hurt towards the end of a night dancing. The peep toed section is quite generous for my feet as I have a fairly wide foot.
I have worn these shoes out a few times now and I have been really pleased with the quality of their design. So far the heel is in perfect condition still and there are no creases or stretching marks on the front or sides of the shoes. The wedge on the bottom of the shoe gives me added height overall and the whole shoe increases my height, makes me feel confident and makes my legs look sexy and elegant.
I bought these shoes for a hen night because I simply fell in love with them when I saw them. I went into New look, expecting to pay £22.99 for them, which i think is a good price anyway, and was ecstatic to see that they were reduced in the sale to just £12.99! I bought them in stored but they are also available online at www.newlook.co.uk. They are available in sizes 3-8 and surprisingly i had to buy a size smaller than my usual size. They are also available in 5 different colours: black, chalk, navy hornblower, red wine and pink blossom. I have them in pink blossom but I think they look good in every colour.
They have a satin appearance with a velvet bow which I think is very classy looking and gives a gorgeous effect. The shoes are very high- probably around 6" heels, which i thought would be a problem for me as they're higher than the heels i usually wear. However i soon got used to the height after walking around the house in them for a bit, and I found the shoes to be actually very comfortable. I also got a lot of compliments on my shoes when I wore them, which i was pleased about. I expect these shoes will sell like hotcakes now that they're on sale so hurry!
I bought these shoes a while ago ready for a wedding I attended 2 weeks ago.
They matched my dress perfectly and didn't break the bank. They were reduced in the sale from £22.99 down to £12.99. I'm glad I didn't spot them before the sale as I would have paid full price then have been gutted that they were down in price a few weeks later!
They are gorgeous shoes, nice and simple yet very pretty. I have them in the colour way shown but are available in others. And from New Look I may add. I bought mine in store but they are available online also at ~
www. newlook .com
These shoes are incredibly high, silly of me to buy them really as the gravel on the drive at the wedding was no mean feat in these!! Nightmare I tell ya!
But seeing as I am a measly 5ft and half an inch (yep it is important lol) I needed shoes with a bit of hight and I must admit being a shoeaholic does have it's perks! It means I walk with ease in stupidly high shoes!!
These shoes have a satin like appearance to them, and that goes for the heel too, mine are this nude colour and they have a contrasting black velvet bow and strap just above the peep toe of the shoe.
The black also runs around the whole shoe, just like you can see in the picture.
They have a platform at the front and I am guessing a 6" heel. They are however stunningly beautiful.
I did tip a bit of cola on the shoe and with a little dabbing with wet hand towels in the toilets it did come off, I didn't expect it too but luckily it did.
They are available in sizes 3 - 8. But are in the sale so if you want them be quick before they all disappear!
Whilst Im waiting for a load of product suggestions to be accepted I thought Id write about the one's that already have been so yes its another New Look shoe review - the last one for a little while I promise!
Id been lusting after these "New Look Satin Bow Platforms" for quite some time in New Look and I never thought Id be lucky enough to catch them in the sale so I went a few weeks ago planning on buying them at full price and was VERY happy to see they had been drastically reduced so I bought them straight away. Ive wanted a pair of nude shoes for ages because I recently bought a nude jacket that nothing seems to match with so these shoes are brilliant for me and Ive been wearing them loads since I bought them - I didnt even let a MAHOOSIVE heel put me off!
Price: Was 22.99 Now 12.99
Stockists: New Look & newlook.com
Other Info: Made from velvet (man made) material, very high heel with a visible 3cm platform & available in sizes 3-8 in store.
This shoe is available in 4 different colours: Cream & Black (The one's I personally own), Black, Red Wine (Pink) & Pink Blossom (Very Light Pink).
In my opinion these are absolutely stunning shoes and possibly the nicest pair I own. They are shiny cream in colour with a contrasting black around the foot part and with a large black bow attatched to the front. I really like the fact that the two colours really contrast each other making the shoe stand out more and the bow just helps add a really girly, feminine edge. The shoes I think would still look nice - if slightly boring - without the bow but thats my favourite part of the shoes.
There is also no denying that the heel on these shoes is pretty high. Theres no exact measurement on the website but Id guess it is about 6-7 inches which is slightly bigger than I normally wear. And I have a feeling that will put people off buying these as they will think they are uncomfortable and impossible to walk in. However because of the raised platform at the front these are much easier to walk in becaise it sort of balances out the heel and that way the shoes dont feel as big as they should. Without that platform these would be impossible to walk in and I think hurt your feet quite a bit but if I can walk in them without going on my bum....ANYONE can.
Ive worn these quite a few times now mainly to the pub with a pair of jeans and people are always asking me where I got them from. These I think do look better when worn with jeans or leggings but Ive worn them with a dress a few times and they still look pretty good. Also there is no wear and tear at all on these and Ive walked loads in them so they are very high quality. Now I just need to get the beer stain out!
Highly recommended from me. Thanks For Reading.
