“ Brand: New Look / Type: Clogs „
My BARGAIN clogs cost just £11 in New Look. Retailing at £35 and reduced to £15 in the sale I cleverly found a pair reduced further, and for no apparent reason.
The clogs are a wooden platform, (I didn't think it is real wood and New Look do not specify what the platform is made of, but on further inspection I think it may just be coated to prevent damage), with a plastic sole and heel base. These can be re-heeled and judging by the condition of mine, this may occur sooner rather than later.
The heel is approximately 4.5/5inches in height and is open backed, whist the rest of the clog is made of suede. The leather, suede material is stitched to the platform with stud detail spaced an inch apart around the exterior of the upper.
The upper is quite narrow, but the buckle is adjustable should your feet be narrower than the design. I have the buckle on the 3rd hole making it as tight as possible and this was the way it was when bought.
The entire clog is brown, with the suede matching the wood effect very closely, whilst the stitching is a cream colour, which complements the rest of the product.
Visually these clogs are really nice, they look good and they look like they will last. Practically, they stay on my feet and do not feel at all loose. They are comfortable, despite the high heel and do not rub or cause blisters.
However, I wore them for one working day in the office and car and the heel has worn away. It has been heeled with a basic cheap plastic which wears away and flattens very quickly.
These look fab with jeans or a dress and work well with a variety of colours. They are going to be great for the summer ahead.
On the sole of the clog is the word "Italy", indicating they were made there and the New Look website says that they were hand made. On closer inspection, the sole also has the size printed on it, as you would expect with most shoes these days. However, the size on my sole says 39 - 8. Obviously in the UK a 39 is a size 6 and not an 8 (perhaps this is why this pair were reduced?), so definitely worth checking the sizes upon buying, especially if buying for someone else and not trying them on for size.
For £11 I am extremely happy with my purchase, for £35 I would expect the base of the heels to be much more solid and less prone to wearing down and needing to be re-heeled. The New Look website currently has sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7 available to order.
