Nike Dunk Hi
Advantages: wide range of colours, customisable iD range, durable and high quality
Nike is a well known sports wear brand, they do everything from shoes to t shirts, to sports accessories and equipment. One of their more popular style of show is the Nike High Top which have been around for years, yet are still popular and in demand today.
'Dunk' is a particular style of footwear that was first introduced by Nike in 1985, and then reintroduced to the market again in 1998. Over the years it has transformed from being a shoe worn for playing basketball, to being a major fashion statement and accessory.
Nike Dunk High tops are notorious for coming in a wide range of colours, and every so often a special limited edition pair get released too - such as the Iron Man limited edition, or the ones which I wish I owned - the Tim Burton Coraline editions.
The latest release in the series is the Nike Dunk Hi iD, which are a range of Nike Dunks in which you can change the colours of particular parts of the shoe (choosing from 14 different colours) to customise them more to your taste and image.
I have owned several pairs of girls Nike Dunks over the years and have loved every single pair of them. They feel as though they are of a high quality, they have a very thick sole (as they were originally designed for playing basketball) so they dont wear out easily from use like a lot of trainers do and they are really durable and long lasting. I tend to own mine for a few years before I replace them, but thats not from wearing them out its just about me wanting a different colour! They are also really popular with skateboarders now as well due to the thick sole and the hi rise of the shoe around the anke. What appeals to me most about them is the wide range of styles and colours that are available in Nike Dunks, they literally have a colour combination for every single personality and taste out there - which is perfect as I love brightly coloured shoes!
To begin with the shoes can feel a bit uncomfortable and difficult to get on, but once you have worn them a few times they seem to mould better to the shape of your feet and they become the most comfortable things to wear. At first they can feel a bit stiff but this doesnt last long, although they do feel a bit heavy on your feet - to me anyway - maybe im just weak.
The only downside to these is the price, they can range anything from £50 (that tends to be when they are on sale or if you are buying kiddies versions!) all the way up to £130+, with the limited editions costing much more than that - which is why I have never owned the coraline ones :( the iD range, which is the ones you can customise, currently retail on the Nike website for £95 - which to me, no matter how much I like them, is a hell of a lot of money for a pair of trainers, or any shoes for that matter.
Other than the price though they are a great high quality and good looking trainer - definitely one of my first choice for trainers or casual shoes!
Summary: great colourful long lasting trainer
