Nine West Ampedup3
Disadvantages: Could be made from a better material for the price
It is no secret that I spend a small fortune on shoes, it is my guilty pleasure and considering I don't smoke, hardly drink and work incredibly hard I feel that I am allowed many a purchase of shoes. Unfortunately I have expensive taste and would much rather pay for an expensive pair of shoes have them last for a numberof years than buy a cheap pair of shoes for them to last a few months. Kurt Geiger is a big downfall of mine but I do try and wait of their sales to purchase shoes to try and save a little money.
I travel quite a bit out of Luton Airport as it one of the nearer airports to me and what do they have there?! A Kurt Geiger store (right next to Dixons in the departures lounge!) and back when the summer sale began I was waiting for a flight when I decided to have a quick browse just in case I saw any holiday bargains, I later emerged with a pair of shoes not very holiday-esque but more for work! They are the Nine West Ampedup3 in nude (also come in black) which were at the back of one of the sale shelves just begging to be bought!
Now although I didn't need another pair of shoes for work I thought that considering I spend a lot of time in my work shoes that another pair could be justified! They had been reduced from £105.00 to £55.00 and I managed to get another £10.00 knocked off due to a small scrape on the inside of one of the shoes which can easily be buffed out with some polish! Nine West are a brand on its own but Kurt Geiger stock and sell their shoes and accessories and are therefore nationwide and available not just in their stores but on their website also.
Ampedup3 are a very classic looking wedge heel which rather than being clumpy it is much more refined, elegantly shaped and ideal for work or evening wear as they do have a sophisticated feel about them, definitely not a shoe you wear to go to a rave or the like! The shaped wedge heel at its highest is 10cm but because of being a wedge heel your whole foot is supported by the heel so they don't actually feel as high as they look which is definitely a good thing as your foot won't ache as much as they would have done in a pair of 10cm high stilettos.
Now for the original price of £105.00 I would have expected these to be full leather with a patent coating. Instead they are a synthetic material which is although quite soft to start with and flexible I think they are over priced and I am quite surprised that Nine West didn't make them out of leather as most of their shoes are. But anyway the synthetic material is soft enough to wear and for them to be comfortable without being tough but the material is rigid enough to actually keep the shape of the shoe without the sides collapsing in or gaping after wearing them too much.
I had picked up the nude coloured pair which is the colour I would have wanted and it contrasts nicely with the cream inside lining (again synthetic) and gives quite a classic colour combination. They are a peep toe design and are actually quite narrow at the front and although I find them comfortable to wear they did start off a little tight around the front of my foot until the material had given a little. Those with wide feet may struggle with these shoes and could probably be quite uncomfortable. The shoe is completely enclosed around the sides of your foot and heel and your feet do feel incredibly secure when walking in them but then it is important to buy your actual size. With Nine West I tend to find I am a good size 6 although I'm a size 5.5 and can sometimes get away with a 5 in Nine West I have no chance!
My pair are only two months old and they have been worn to work on quite a few occasions as I find their simple design and style go easily with my work wear and of course because they aren't in your face and not so daring they fit in completely with my line of work and easily girl a chic, feminine feel to a black suit jacket and skirt. Apart from starting off a little tight around my feet they have never rubbed my feet to the point of pain although I did have a few red marks around my ankle which I expected considering they are made out of synthetic material but having continued to wear them they have been comfortable. I have noticed though that the heel has worn down a little quicker than I would have liked so it may be that these need re-heeling more than others.
If wanting a lovely pair of shoes for the office and not wanting a pair of platforms which are of course in every shop then these are a great alternative, not as offensive has a pair of platforms, they do have an air of sophistication about them which makes them ideal for the office. Because of seeming quite narrow I would definitely say that you would need to try them on before although if you buy on Kurt Geiger's website they do, do free returns. I would ideally like to give them 3.5 stars but as I can't then I will bump it up to 4 stars - knocking a star off for the materials used.
