A lovely pair of boots for the colder months

I think by now if you have read my reviews regularly you will have known that I love shoes generally from particular brands but never the less I love shoes. My wardrobe is over flowing to the point where I have a wardrobe full of shoes in my office at home! However, apart from shoes I also love boots but I do have expensive taste (I can't help it!) but the key thing to my rather large collection is I wait for the sales! Especially when it comes to a nice pair of boots I have found over the years that cheap boots generally don't last and you've wasted your money so I may spend a little more than what some people would but I know my money is well spent!

Because I am receive regular updates from Kurt Geiger's website I of course get notifications when sales are going to be on (it also helps knowing a store manager too!). As soon as the sale appears on the website then my bank takes a battering! On my virtual shopping spree last year I spotted a pair of lovely but casual boots from Nine West. The boots are called Clara N and originally I spotted them in black but after looking further they also do them in the brown which is the variety I opted for as I really did like the lighter almost tan shade of the boots.

Nine West is a global brand which I am sure most women (and no doubt some men) have heard of. They create a wide variety of accessories ranging from shoes, boots, purses, handbags and even sunglasses. They are known as a designer brand but don't warrant such high price tags compared to other designers such as Steve Madden and Louis Vuitton! Nine West are readily available in a variety of high street stores such as Kurt Geiger, John Lewis and House of Fraser so they are not hard to buy from.

The Clara N boots are a lovely casual pair of boots. Despite having plenty of heels I wanted a pair of lowish casual boots for when running around town or even going out during the day with friends. It was certainly nice to have a pair of boots that only have a 5cm block heel! Compared to most of my other shoes and boots these are relatively flat and I have to say I don't miss the towering heels when wearing these as they are so incredibly comfortable! These are definitely not a 'posh' going out boot as they are quite chunky in comparison but they look wonderful with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings for a casual but chic look.

The boots are of course made from leather which you would certainly expect not only from Nine West but with an original price tag of £240.00 but instead of being perfectly smooth leather there is a slight distressed look to it which is nice and makes a change from other leather boots. As soon as my boots arrived in the post I noticed the leather smell but not only that the leather was so soft and supple and that's without even being worn! The boots do feature two buckles which simply add to the design and don't actually do anything in terms of the fit of the boots, one buckle is slightly wider than the other but both feature lovely bronze coloured buckles. The buckles are around the ankle but they don't alter the fit whatsoever. Another lovely design feature is the panelled leather at the upper part of the boot, this just adds a little interest into what would be plain leather boots!

The sole of the boots are made from a synthetic rubber type material as is the heel. Being that it is a synthetic material will hopefully mean that the sole and heel will wear down very slowly and therefore be in better condition for longer. The lining of the boots are black in colour so nothing particularly special but in the footbed of the boots there is a little cushioning which offers a little comfort when walking around in the boots and because the sole and heel are made from that rubber type material they seem to be slightly springy almost when walking in them - if that makes sense! The heel is more of a block heel than anything and hopefully as it has a wider surface area than say a stiletto then the heel will wear down a lot slower.

To get the boots on and off there is a zip on the inside which is quite discreet however it only goes up 1/3 of the boot so if you do have problems getting long boots on then this may be a slight problem. Another issue you may find is that there is only one calf width available which I guess is known as 'normal'. Fortunately for me I have slim calves and I still find that there is a gap in between my leg and the boots but for those with wider calves it may be worth trying these in store rather than ordering on line to ensure that they fit correctly as even though leather gives after a while you still need to be comfortable in them. As with most Nine West shoes and boots these are quite a narrowish fit around the front of the foot which I do find a little tight to start off with but when worn a few times then they do loosen up making them slightly more comfortable!

I have owned my pair for well over 10 months now and they have been worn quite a lot simply because they are incredibly comfortable to wear! Despite the leather already being quite soft and supple they don't loose their shape whatsoever but they do give a little more around the foot with wear so they don't feel as tight as when they were first worn. I do find that these boots do make your feet quite secure which is nice although snug they are not tight around the foot anymore although it would be nice to have them a little tighter around my calf as they do have a gap but this is such preference and not essential. Despite being worn on a very regular basis during the colder months they still look in lovely almost near perfect condition. I can't complain about these boots whatsoever they were a great buy and will hopefully be worn for the following years to come. They are incredibly well made, great quality leather has been used so I doubt they will break like cheaper alternatives. If you can still get your size whilst these are on sale then I'd recommend them!
