A great pair of flat shoes

Flat shoes to me are something of comfort especially as I generally wear high heels unless I'm with the horses and I'm either in a pair of Hunters or leather boots. But my flat shoes have definitely been getting a lot more use over the past few months which is quite good as I do have quite a few pairs of flat shoes in my extensive shoe collection as I do find they always come in handy.

Back in spring of this year I had a bit of a splurge on the Kurt Geiger website which provided me with two pairs of flat shoes. One pair was by Nine West and called Lalia, the other pair I will also be reviewing shortly. I really like buckles on shoes at the moment, any sort of buckle, I really don't mind! I chose Lalia because they look suitable for the office and for outside the office which gives two uses to the shoe!

      What Nine West say:

"Lalia by Nine West is a chic flat pump featuring chunky bow with metallic detailing. Smart enough for the office or as an evening alternative to heels these are both versatile and practical!"

Lalia are available in either black or grey. The picture for the review is of the grey version although they really don't look like grey! Lalia 2 is the same shoe just made out of fabric and it comes in navy blue. I opted for the grey version as I preferred the colour and I have quite a few pairs of black shoes and wanted a different colour albeit grey!

Lalia are made out of leather and comes complete with a chunky metal buckle in which a leather bow type detail is threaded threw. The bow detail is the same colour as the main body of the shoe but it is a thick piece of leather which I presume makes it easier to stay in position at the front of the shoe.

The lining of the shoe is a pale beige colour which contrasts nicely with the overall colour of Lalia. Both the lining and the sole is synthetic. There is some slight padding to the heel and the footbed of the shoe which gives the shoe some comfort but there is no real support with these flat shoes which for me is normally never an issue but for some it is.

What I like about leather shoes is that they tend not to rub my feet as the leather softens enough to be supple around my foot but not enough to crease and cause the shoe to lose its shape. For me I did have some slight rubbing at the heel with these shoes which was a little disappointing as the lining around the heel is incredibly soft but after wearing them a few times and after applying a thin layer of vaseline around the heel and there was no more rubbing. The toe of the shoe is not particularly narrow which for me is ideal as even though I don't have wide feet I don't like that area of my foot feeling squashed or crushed but there is plenty of room as long as you get your correct size!

What I notice with all my leather flat shoes is that they scuff easily around the toe and the heel of the shoe due to the nature of the shoe. These shoes are no different and because the leather is quite soft it does scuff easily so just bear this in mind if you are wearing them a lot. I do now spray mine with a leather protect spray which I find works to some extent.

Lalia are available from all Nine West retailers and come in sizes 4 to 9. They are currently priced at £70.00 which although I am happy to pay for the quality of the shoes I do feel that they could be a bit more robust.

For me, these shoes have been worn to work and worn out on an evening and they go with most of my wardrobe so I am definitely getting my monies worth but the fact that these scuff far too easily is an issue for me and I'm having to wear them less to prevent further scuffing which is a shame as they are nice and comfortable.
