A gorgeously high pair of shoes

When it comes to shoes I think most of you reading my reviews now realise that I am completely obsessed. And I will freely admit that I should curb my spending on my shoe obsession but I just can't seem to stop especially when it comes to the sales! I am a lover of the shoe boot style which I find incredibly versatile to wear all year round.

A pair I fell in love with at the beginning of this year was a pair in Office called That's Life. I fortunately managed to get them in the sale but I would have happily paid the full price. That's Life come in aubergine or black but I opted for the aubergine as I preferred the colour but I also have far too many black shoes in my collection.

      What Office say:

"That's Life, that's what all the people say about these aubergine satin, strappy upper, round toe courts. Ride high in April, but don't be shot down in May with the square buckle detail"

What attracted me to the shoes other than the gorgeous purple hue was the lattice style of the straps which go across the front of the foot. The straps are quite wide but cross over the foot perfectly. The straps like all of the shoe are made from a satin material which has a soft, shiny outer but it is also soft against the foot. On the one side of the shoe (not the side of the buckle) but the straps do have a small piece of aubergine coloured elastic making them fit your feet a bit more easily and the straps stretch.

This lattice effect is the main detailing on the shoe but the buckle also stands out too. The buckle is in aubergine gloss and is large and square in shape. The buckle is adjustable but there are only 3 holes you can choose from. The strap which goes into the buckle is the same colour as the shoe but it is a different material and not satin. It just contrasts nicely. It is the same material which is at the back of the heel part of the shoe.

That's Life has a lovely round toe which isn't as narrow as it looks as I found there is plenty of room for your toes and the front of your feet. The round toe is really modern at the moment especially for platform shoes and this style really suits That's Life. Even though they are not the widest of shoes they do fit quite snug but your feet do feel quite secure especially with the straps as they keep your feet firmly in the shoes but because of the elastic they have a bit of give. The lining of the shoes is still a deep aubergine colour and has slight padding which gives a little comfort for your feet which is much needed when walking in such a high pair of shoes!

That's Life are made of satin fabric which has been stiffened so the shoes don't loose their shape. Unlike leather shoes the satin doesn't give or stretch too much which is good but to start off with they are a little rigid and it does take them quite a while to supple up a little but I'd rather this than them loosing their overall shape.

The shoes have a whopping 13.5cm heel which is teamed with a 3cm heel. This may seem high to some but for me I have been wearing shoes this high for so long they don't feel high to me anymore! As strange as it sounds the high platform actually balances out the high stiletto heel which makes it easier to walk in these shoes. The heel is incredibly slim and if you are not used to wearing such high shoes then it is best to practice at home first before you venture outside as the heel and the platform can easily knock you off balance! The heel and platform are again a dark shade of aubergine to match with the shoes.

I've worn my pair quite a few times since buying them as I wear them out on an evening together with a pair of skinny jeans and they look great. They did initially cause me a little discomfort at the front of the shoe but this has since stopped as the satin suppled a little but I never had any cuts it was just a little redness. I found the shoes easy to walk in as soon as I tried them on in store, the biggest challenge was sorting out the strapping at the front of your foot as well as trying to get your feet into the shoes and not going through the straps! These shoes definitely require you to sit down to put them on!

These are without question a comfortable pair of shoes which although a little tricky to get on they look great once on. They don't rub and although caused a little redness this soon went once the shoes were properly broken in. I like the fact that the straps keep your feet feeling secure in such a high pair of shoes, the straps actually feel like they support your feet without being too restrictive. Overall, they are a gorgeous pair of shoes which I would recommend to those shoe lovers out there!
