I'm a big fan of Oxygen shoes at the moment, and my most recent purchase from them is the 'Hastings'. I ordered it online direct from the Oxygen website, and it was delivered the next day. The service was great and the receipt in the box was personalised, so made me feel my custom was valued.
The 'Hastings' is a Mary Jane style flat shoe, with soft leather uppers. It is a slightly unusual shoe, with assymetric shaping that mimics the shape of your foot. I love the quirkiness and slightly retro/vintage feel I get from the styling.
The stitching and general quality of the shoe is great. My previous Oxygen shoes have lasted incredibly well, and I see no reason this newer pair won't match their longevity.
The inside is molded cork, covered in a thin white suede. It's a lovely comfortable shoe, that takes no wearing in at all: instantly supportive and snug. The sole is nice and thick, with a gripping surface cut with an unusual design of criss-crossing wavy lines.
It's a very similar shoe to the Oxygen 'Warwick' I've previously reviewed (I know what I like!), but instead of a strap that fastens with velcro, it has a solid strap. The button to the side is decorative only. The strap has a small elasticated section to allow the flexibility for you to get your foot in. The only problem I have with this way of doing the strap is that you can't tighten it across your foot as you could with the velcro fastening. When wearing with bare feet that's fine, but with tights the shoe feels looser and less secure. But that's a very minor issue. They're a lovely fit and so comfortable.
The 'Hastings' comes in black, with a purple tartan button, in brown with a brown tartan button, or apple with a green button. I chose the black.
Oxygen size their shoes using European measurements, but have a conversion table on their website. They sell their shoes in sizes between 36 and 42 (3 and a half to seven and a half women's UK sizes). They currently (20/03/11) have a sale on and are selling the 'Hastings' at £24.99.
