Peacocks Soft Pom Pom Bootee
Personally, I am always wearing my slippers. Whenever I get home and I am in for the night the first thing I do is change into my slippers. It was my mum who bought me these for my birthday closer to the beginning of last year from Peacocks. Peacocks is a clothes and shoe store, I don't often shop in Peacocks for clothes but I do like their shoes and I have now bought quite a few pairs of their slippers.
Although I initially thought that these slipper boots might be too warm as I got them not that far from the beginning of spring I ended up wearing these right through the summer months. They are made from a rather thin man made polyester material. The boots are very soft to the touch and are not very well structured so they don't retain their shape all that well even when on, which means that they can get a little slouchy or open, they are also quite large at the ankle area. These do just come up past my ankles, which really does help to keep your feet that bit cosier and warmer.
The pair I own are white and even with a young messy puppy in the house these are surprisingly good at remaining clean (ish) looking. However, I do still feel the need to wash them on a pretty semi- regular basis. I just put them in the washing with some other clothes on a regular 30 degree cycle, these have probably been washed at least twice a month and they always dry well and with a little rub down to settle the fluffy type material they are back to looking nice.
Mine did have two attached pom pom's but I quickly snipped these off when I got an 8 week old pup who continued to attack my feet thinking that these pom poms made for a great toy. Personally, I don't think that the pom pom's add much and these slippers stilled looked nice even without them.
When I first had these the size was pretty correct and accurate, but after you wear them for a few months I found that they were on the large size having stretched out. I am a size 6 and I had the size 5-6 so if you were a five they might have stretched to be way too big, whereas mine were still more than suitable to wear, but just on the large size.
The only real downside to these slipper boots was that the sole wasn't the thickest. Before we moved home that was never a problem for me because although we did have a bit of hard wood flooring the flat was predominantly carpeted. In the house we have a rather nice but freezing cold stone tile kitchen floor, in the summer it is lovely because the sun heats it up and it retains some of that heat, but in the winter it can feel like walking on ice blocks. Whenever I go into the kitchen in the colder months I usually always try and remember to put my slippers on, but even with these slippers on the cold still gets through. The soles are fine for most floors but they really don't offer the warmth I am looking for or separation from floor to foot that I now look for in a slipper.
These slippers where available from the Peacocks store or online and when I got these nearly a year ago they were retailing for around £8. They have been brilliant value for money and have really lasted well, I have just retired them after receiving a very similar new pair for Christmas and because these had developed a rather big hole near the toes, thanks to the perils of puppy teeth.
These get a four out of five stars from me and I would happily recommend these slippers to anyone looking for something similar. I will no doubt be purchasing similar ones from Peacocks in the near future, I really did like these for through the summer when at night my feet would get a little cold.
