      Very helpful

I am very happy with my beautiful boots from Poetic Licence - 4 Stars

      Poetic Licence Downtown Darling Boots

I set out looking to replace my very practical brown, flat leather boots which I have had for a good couple of years and have worn them to death! However once I started looking online I decided I wanted a pair of boots with a heel that would be comfortable for work. I spotted these on the House of Fraser website and immediately liked them, but I kept on looking for a more sensible boot. After not being able to get these out of my head I took the plunge and bought a pair.

      Poetic Licence

I already have a pair of Poetic Licence shoes and really like the style and quality, these are equally as well made. The make is a sister brand of the more well known brand Irregular Choice who make quirky and fun shoes and boots. The business started in 2005 in London and the team design fun and original designs for women.

      The Boots

The boots come in a gorgeous baby pink and blue slide open box with lovely pink woven handles. The boots are stuffed and wrapped in tissue paper to keep them safe during transit and also to keep their shape when not being worn.

The thing that really attracted me to these boots was their unusual vintage style; they look like something out of the 1920's. The overall colour of the boots is black, these also come in brown and maroon which are also fabulous. The main part of the boots is made of suede and the heel and toe areas are finished in leather which gives them a contrasting look.

The heel is black and made of wood according to the product description, with quite a small and thin platform sole. I personally prefer a bit of a wedge sole with heeled shoes as I find it so much more comfortable to walk in and wear. These have quite a big heel measuring 3.5 inches or 9 cm, so not really practical for work at all!

The boots go three quarters of the way up my lower leg and have a zip on the inside of each boot. They are quite a snug fit around the calf's but big enough for me to put my jeans beneath them and still be comfy. The front of these boots is what really grabs you - they have a wide colourful tweed fabric panel down the entire front of the boot. This is coloured grey with blue, green and red stripes and finished off with bright electric blue satin lace. These laces are simply for show and you don't need to undo them as you have the zip down the side of the boots. There is also a contrasting blue and black piping.

The boots are nice and light to wear as well as feeling very sturdy and extremely good quality. I have to say however that after a few hours in these my feet start to ache a bit from the height of the boots and because they are quite steep the ball of my foot niggles slightly after long wears. So I doubt I will be wearing these for work, they are also too nice to wear in the office and I shall be saving them for special occasions. They are both beautiful and striking and very unusual which is what drew me to them originally.

I paid £69.99 for these boots delivered, they were originally £125 and I feel like I have got a bit of a bargain. I purchased these from Irregularchoice.com, but they have now only got the brown colour left in stock on their website. If you Google Poetic Licence Downtown Darling Boots you will find them 
