Primark Black Bow Ballerina Pumps
Advantages: Cheap, look nice, comfier than expected
Disadvantages: None really
It is very rare to see me without heels as I am quite short and like to add a bit of height to myself when I can, but sometimes you just get sick of heels and want to relax in flats. When the rest of the country were starting to wear ballerina pumps, I was way behind the times and only purchased my first pair a few months ago as I just didn't think I would get the wear out of them, nor did I think they would be particularly comfortable as they didn't look very cosy or padded, but eventually I relented to see what all the fuss was about.
As I wasn't sure how much wear I was going to get out of them, I decided to only purchase a cheap pair, so I wasn't wasting too much money if I decided I didn't like them. I decided there would be no cheaper ballerina pumps available than in Primark so this is where I purchased mine from.
They do all manner of styles and colours of pumps, but I went for plain black, just because I thought this would be the safest option and black goes with anything. They are plain black with a black bow on the top of the toe area to give it a bit of style.
Comfort wise, I was quite surprised. I imagined them being really tight and as they don't have much of a cushioned sole, I imagined them to feel like I was pretty much walking barefoot on concrete but I was surprised at how protected my feet did feel. Although when you look at the sole of the shoe, there is no thickness to it, it is surprising how comfortable the shoe is.
I am a size 3 or 4, depending on what shoes I purchase or where from but as my feet are quite narrow, I have found that with these pumps, I need a size 3 so they do come quite large. My feet are abnormally narrow and they do feel slightly too large width-wise but length wise, a size 3 fits me perfectly and my toes don't feel like they are cramped together at the end of the shoe.
These aren't any good in damp conditions obviously as the top of your foot has no protection and I have found that they aren't particularly waterproof and water does seep through and leave your feet rather damp.
For the price I half expected these pumps to fall apart after a couple of weeks but I have been quite surprised at how well made they are. Mine are starting to look a little worn around the front where it bends with your toes but they are still completely intact and perfectly wearable which is quite good considering I only paid around £6.00 for them.
I had a slight bit of rubbing around the back of the heel when I purchased these but they wore in quite well and quite quickly too. Although they were better than expected, I still don't feel entirely comfortable in thee shoes, but that is more to do with my love of heels than the shoe itself so I tend to use these when mulling around the house or on the school run or similar.
Overall, for cheap ballerina pumps, these aren't half bad. They aren't my usual style of shoe so I would struggle to wear them out and about when walking loads but for general knocking around the house and garden, these are comfier than expected and you can't really argue with the price so they come with a recommendation from me.
Summary: A decent pair of ballet pumps from Primark
