With starting back work recently I have a bit of disposable income to spend on myself. I already have numerous pairs of sandals for the summer in every colour and shape you can think of so I decided to pick up some brogues instead as i can wear them in the Autumn and Winter and didn't want them to sell out before I had chance to pick them up.
Brogue's are an old design that have recently come back into fashion. They are quite feminine for what were, primarily, a masculine shoe. Brogue's are in the style of a formal man's shoe with a very small heel and some detailed piping all over and laces.
I picked up this brogues from River Island which is known for stocking the latests fashions so I know I could trust their products to be band on the trend. I'd seen brogues in Primark for £6 but instead decided to purchase these ones for £26.99 as I thought they'd be better quality as I was paying more.
The colour is a black/blue colour meaning that they go well with a lot of my outfits, to touch the shoe is quite soft yet sturdy and when I slipped them on they felt exactly the same on my feet. The sole is rubber and that feels thicker than the sole on the Primark brogues.
I've had these brogues for 5 weeks now and wear them religiously with anything-shorts, jeans, leggings, summer dresses, with or without tights etc. They still look as good as new which isn't much to vouch for after 5 weeks but they don't look like tearing or breaking any time soon they feel good quality under both hand and foot.
The brogues are very comfortable and I have even worn these on a night out so they are very durable and can be worn with anything. This makes their £26.99 price tag seem quite minimal as I have already got plenty of wear out of them and will continue to do so.
Overall, I would recommend these shoes whatever fashion sense you have, whatever season it may be I doubt you'd be disappointed!
I got these one afternoon in shopping centre, when I made a terrible mistake and took high heels for all day shopping trip. After few hour I was unable to walk, so cheap(-ish), flat and comfy was exactly what I was looking for. Fortunately, I came across these Navy Brogue schoes in River Island for an ok-price £26.99.
Well, there is none if I don't count hanger that holds the pair on the rack. A bit disappointing even new (non-display) pairs are not kept in boxes...
Exactly what I was looking for, plus great colour - an unusual shade of blue (I wouldn't call in navy, it's more denim blue for me). With first touch I was amazed, they are incredibly soft and light and I couldn't believe they're not real leather.
As per picture, they are lovely blue flat shoes with laces of the same colour and very thin beige sole with almost non-existing heel (lower than appears on the picture here). They are made of UP (synthetic material) and inside they are lined with blue and white fabric.
~~~Second impression and purchase~~~
There are all standard sizes available, they fit very well and when on feet they still feel very very soft, like slippers. However, first problem came up few minutes later at the till - when paying for them I noticed one of the shoes is marked like with a blue pen, I requested a new pair. Second pair had one shoe marked with big dark blue dot again, fortunately enough when I combined left of one pair and right of second, I had perfect shoes (for now, anyway). This is when I realized material and colour are very keen to get damaged and even with your fingernail you can make a visible dark blue mark into the shoe. Anyway, my feet hurt really badly so I didn't care and bought them anyway.
~~~After couple weeks~~~
They are sooooo soft and so I started wearing them almost every day for work and walks, I even took the for holidays (city break) where I used the quite a lot. They didn't hurt my feet at all, comfort-wise they are one of the best pairs of shoes I've ever had. My feet don't sweat nor smell too much even after all day (I was really worried about this as many synthetic material shoes cause horrible smell when you wear them for more than 10 minutes). However looks suffered already - sole tends to chip so they look like if I left it in a cage with hungry hamster. Also matte blue finish is starting to wear off leaving shinier and darker blue colour.
I'm a bit disappointed what quality these shoes turned up to be. But frankly, even it's just over a month I have them and they look far from new, for £26.99 I really enjoyed the comfort and a bit of style and I'm not sorry I purchased them - you get quality you pay for, but comfort and style is absolutely worth it!
