Stunning slipper shoes from River Island.

I spotted these on the River Island website a few months ago and immedietly loved them!! I ordered a pair but recieved an e-mail the next day informing me that they were out of stock in my size - I was gutted!

I managed to find them on ASOS and finally ordered a pair in September. I absolutely love them and they're the perfect balance of vintage (the design & the velvet) and modern (the studs) fashion. I paid £45.00 for these which for a good quality, versatile and most importantly comfortable pair of fashionable shoes that I get a lot of wear out of is an absolute steal in my opinion and you can tell from looking at them that they're expensive. Primark do some good dupes but you can definitely tell the difference as these are really well made.

While I personally think that these are stunning, they definitely won't be to everyones taste and one of my friends said that they look like granny slippers. Seeing as granny chic is still moderately acceptable in the world of fashion though I just took this as a compliment! I think that they're really quirky while not being over the top or tacky. The design/shape of the shoe is pretty simple. They're marketed as slipper shoes but they're basically loafers. They have a rounded toe and block heel and like flats they expose most of the upper foot. The tounge (the part of the shoe that is attatched to the toe part of the shoe) is an unusual shape which I like.

I have these in navy as I think that these are more versatile than the other colour (dark red) available. The navy is like a dark royal blue and the colour is really pretty. The embellised studs all over the sides of the shoes as well as aligned on the top of each tounge are golden which I like, I think that this makes them look less harsh and toned down and warmer if that makes sense as silver studs can make shoes look quite cold - I know that probably doesn't make a lot of sense but hopefully you can work out what I mean! The shoes are lined with a soft velvet material which I love. I initially worried that this material would make them attract dirt and be a pain to clean but they're really durable and on the few ocassions that they're gotten a bit grubby a tissue has done the job in cleaning them up.

The block heel is around two inches high and it gives me a bit of a boost while still being comfortable and easy to walk in. These are easy to style and they go with any outfit. While they are more of a summer shoe I have found them to be ideal autumn shoes as they are pretty warm and thicker than flats but not as bulky as winter boots. They're more casual than smart but they're incredibly versatile. Comfort wise, they're one of my favourite pairs of shoes to slip on if I am popping down to a friends house or going to town etc as they're comfortable while still looking fashionable. I got my usual size five and they're a perfect fit - not too tight but not at all loose. They also don't feel too narrow which is an advantage for me as I have quite wide feet - they don't make my feet feel squashed. Sizes available are UK3-8 and they can be purchased via ASOS or River Island.

Overall recommended, five out of five stars!
