Barefoot is best, choose Robeez next
I'm not really one of these mums who buy shoes for their babies before they can walk, I don't really see the need for shoes and find that socks are perfectly adequate in keeping feet warm and think you really only need to buy shoes once a baby starts to walk as otherwise you are just throwing your money away.
I have seen these shoes in lots of posh baby shops and always thought they were really cute but like I've said above didn't really see a need for hem and so never bought a pair. I was quite pleased though when my little boy received them as a gift because then there's a reason to wear them because you haven't bought them yourself.
The shoes are made of a lovely soft leather and are slip on shoes so you can just put them on really easily without having to worry about laces, zips or Velcro. However this means that they slip off easily too and it didn't take my little boy long to figure out how to pull these shoes off and it soon became his favourite game. The back of the shoes have a elasticated ankle portion so they do fit well onto small feet and if you buy these for a young enough baby then they will stay on.
According to their website Robeez say that, "The best shoe mimics bare feet, by supporting - not constricting tiny growing feet."
Robeez footwear flex and bend with every step. They promote good balance and unrestricted growth, while protecting little feet from the world. From crawling to cruising, walking to running, for indoors and out, Robeez makes different shoes for newborns to four-year-olds."
This particular pair are gorgeous and perfect for cool little funky boys in my opinion. They are a gorgeous light-ish blue colour and have a cute green dinosaur motif stitched onto the front. It's a simple but effective design and goes with most boys outfits.
These were perfect for my little boy up until recently. He has now started standing up on his own and is almost walking and I think now it's time to get him sturdier shoes that will help him walk. These have been great as pram/pushchair shoes and do have an anti slip sole but I notice that they do slouch a bit and move a bit as his feet move and so I will now look at some Clarks shoes for him but I have enjoyed him wearing them.
Like I've said above you can find them in nice baby shops and I think Mothercare and cost in the £20 region.
My little monkey recieved these as a gift at his christening. It was part of a set, and it came with these shoes and a pair of socks that match the shoes. The design i got differs slightly from the picture shown, they are the same colours and identical, except the dinosaur is hatching from a egg (Very Cute!)
Now, my little one is a right fidget and normally can't even keep socks on let alone shoes! I'm not sure why these differ from that but they sure have some staying power! It's nice to go out with the pram and not have to worry about losing one... or even two shoes! (Yes that has happened!!)
They are made of high qualitly material, they have skid resistant soles, which is brilliant when they are learning to walk and there legs are all over the place! The rest of the shoe is leather, which is nice as they are quite flexible, which i think is another bonus when they are learning to walk, they do not want something ridgid and hard, makes that challenge of walking a little bit harder! The flexible soles mean that they can grip with there toes, which experts say is ideal.
Another plus point is the fact they are machine washable, so when the little monkeys get covered in dirt... at least the shoes are easy to clean even if they aren't!
My babies slippers would never stay on, until I bought these Robeez slippers for my son. They are made of very soft supple leather, and have an elasticated back which stay on great. Inside the shoe, is very soft suede, so they can be worn with or without socks. They have a great range of colourful designs for boys and girls. They are suitable for in the house as slippers, or a pram shoe, ideal for summer without socks in the pram.
They are also machine washable on a cool wash, and surprisingly they wash really well, and come up like new, they can be air dried.
They are well worth the price, I paid £16 for my sons shoes (3 years ago), and he had several pairs after his first pair, I even bought him Robeez fur lined boots, which were fantastically cosy for winter, even outside in his pram.
