Like most women I have an unhealthy fascination with footwear, my footwear of choice is trainers. I have quite a few pairs of trainers (6ish) that I wear in rotation depending on the time of year and what task I am doing. My newest pair of trainers is a pair of Skechers Biker Flower Girl in red/white that my husband purchased for me on a recent shopping trip to Masson Mill in Matlock Bath. While pottering around my husband spotted these trainers and pointed them out to me, I was suitably impressed; the side I could see on the Skechers stand was white with a bit of black and red sole showing and a small amount of red zig zag stitching. My husband picked them up and passed them to me and that was when I noticed the most gorgeous embroidery on the outer side.
These trainers are not any old trainers they have the most amazing deep red roses embroidered on the outer side. As soon as I saw that I knew I had to own them, regardless of price, which luckily for me was £38.50. The embroidery is extremely well done, the stitches are nice and tight and so far there have been no loose threads. The rose at the heel end of the shoe is slightly larger than the rose on the toe end of the shoe, each rose has a small green leaf behind it and a curling green branch, and I am doing these shoes a great injustice with my description you need to see these shoes to appreciate how wonderful the roses look. There is also a metallic red S on the outer side of the trainer and a small red heart shaped charm hanging off the laces, the charm can be unclipped but I have left it on, a bit of trainer bling looks good. The other trainer is exactly the same as this trainer except it is for the left foot.
The stitching of the leather is nice and strong, the trainers are extremely well made. These trainers do not have the regular laces but are laced up with a sealed elastic loop, which for me makes a lot of sense as I tie my trainers to the correct tightness and then slide them on and off. The beauty in these trainers is in the details, the elastic laces are white with small flecks of red, and the loops that the laces go through are also white and have small flecks of silver through them, which are very eye catching and appeal to the magpie in me. The tongue of the trainers has a tape running up the middle of it with the Skechers name embossed on it in black; the great thing about these trainers is that the name branding is very minimal.
The inside of the trainers is deep red like the roses and has a printed rose and the Skechers name brand. The back of the tongue has the usual trainer size information and tells me that the uppers are leather and textile and that the trainers were made in China. The sole of the trainers is red and black and feels very grippy, they are not the chunkiest soles around but feel quite tough, and the couple of weeks constant outdoor wearing I have given these does not even show.
The trainers are simple to put on; the elastic laces have enough give in them to ensure the trainers just pop on. I am a bit of a funny shoe size, 5 and a half, and I have quite wide feet, usually when I buy trainers and shoes, if there is no 5 and a half available I go up to a 6, but experience has taught me that with Skechers I need to go down to a 5 to get a comfortable fit.
In all honesty these Skechers are the most comfortable trainers I have had for a long time, when I first put them on they felt a little snug, but a couple of weeks wear and the leather has loosened up a bit, these trainers fit like a glove, I have suffered slightly warm feet over the last few days, but happily no smelly trainer foot.
I am no athlete so I can't comment on the durability of these trainers for running or going to the gym, but for every day pottering about these are brilliant my feet feel very well supported, I don't bounce along like Tigger. If like me you want a nice pair of trainers for the summer, that are not chunky and go easily with jeans and three quarter length jeans then these are for you.
I really like Skechers trainers as the trainers are really well made and they appeal to my sense of individuality with the embroidery and they feel very comfortable.
The trainers come in full and half sizes ranging through sizes three to seven and a half and retail at £38.50 plus £2.50 postage on amazon.co.uk.
