“ Brand: Ruby & Ed „
As the first frost of the season hits, it's time to get out the woolies and, in my case, take some comfort in my luxury slippers on these cold Winter mornings. Ruby and Ed slippers have been my "at home" footwear of choice, since I discovered them a couple of years ago - I've always bought online, the slippers are not widely available in the High Street, they are firmly a luxury brand. Ruby and Ed slippers are not mass produced and tend to be a little bit quirky, but mainly I love them as they are very comfortable and just a bit different from the norm. Ruby and Ed make slippers in a variety of styles from ballerina, slipper boot and slip on shoes, they also produce a small range of shoes and clothes for wearing at home. They are more expensive than most slippers, but they do make great gifts - and the company has regular sales which are worth keeping an eye out for. All the slippers I have ever bought from this company have come beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and often in a little drawstring bag, you do feel you are buying something special.
This particular slipper is, as you can see from the picture, fur lined and comes embellished with a variety of beads and sequins. The finish of the slipper is a woven rough textile - which not everyone will like, (they do suede finish slip ons too if this is not your style) and as you can see it is a slip on slipper. The sizing of this shoe is quite generous in my opinion, it's quite wide - I have the medium slipper and the cost currently is £35, with full details of sizing available on the website.
For the purchase price you are getting a slipper which appears to be hand finished, and which has a real leather sole, which is printed with "Ruby and Ed". As you would expect, the quality of the slippers is good - the fur liner does flatten somewhat over time, but these are extremely comfy, I wear them a lot as we don't wear our outdoor shoes inside. I find I don't slip on tiled floors with them, and they are a real treat for my feet. They are quite toasty, which is why I have a different pair for Summer use. Whether you like the design or not will be personal choice, but I do like the contrast of unfinished textile and beads. They have worn well - none of the sequins or beads have come off over time, though the back is a little flattened, I do wear them a lot and think they will last a reasonable amount of time.
Like I said at the start I do feel these are a little bit of luxury, and for that reason I love them - of course I realise that you can buy much cheaper slippers, but these are a bit different. I've always found customer service with this company with all the slippers I have ever bought to be excellent, and like I have said I think they make beautiful gifts - sometimes they provide free gift boxes, which are just lovely. Even if this particular slipper is not for you, I recommend having a look at the website as there is bound to be something to appeal, and their Sales often offer 50% or more off. Recommended.
