Ever looked at a pair of shoes and thought, "I have to have those"? That's what I did when I saw these shoes! I was browsing the Schuh website, came across them and realised they were the perfect pair of ruby slippers/Dorothy shoes I've been looking for all my life! Red and glittery, with a manageable 7cm heel and a red bow on the front of each shoe. They were absolutely beautiful!
The shoes cost £36, although I may or may not have used a £5 off discount code I found somewhere (I can't remember now) - I do remember that I loved these shoes so much that I would have been happy to pay full price for them! £36 was a lot of money for a pair of shoes (at the time - I have paid more for a pair since) but considering the price of a lot of evening shoes such as Irregular Choice, they were rather bargainous.
I ordered them online and received them in the post not long after. They were just as beautiful in real life! Bright red and sparkly, with a medium heel of the attractive but comfortable kind that starts off wide but narrows to the floor - I love this kind of heel as they are attractive but very comfortable. The soles are metallic, as are the undersides of the shoes (which are made entirely of man-made materials).
I could go on for hours about these shoes and how they look, but all you have to do is look at the picture above, really!
I bought these shoes in my usual size (6) and they fit comfortably but snugly. I loved how my feet looked in them - very dainty and pretty! I had to resist the urge to click my heels together!
Wearing them out, the shoes feel very comfortable. I don't experience any burning in my feet (I guess the heels aren't really high enough for that) and only slight rubbing on my heels, nothing to worry about. I have to point out though that I haven't worn them clubbing or anything like that. I'm terrified of ruining them by walking through dirt or spilling drink on them or getting them stood on. I want to keep them as nice as possible! So I've limited myself to wearing them in quiet bars and when I go out for meals. I've had loads of compliments when I'm wearing them, though! I tend to wear them with a black dress and they look great.
So far the shoes have stayed in good condition, and the glitter by and large hasn't fallen off (a couple of bits have, of course). If you did get them dirty I'm not sure how you'd clean them - it's not as though you can use shoe polish! This could be an issue for some people.
Personally though, I absolutely love these shoes and I'm so glad I bought them. Wearing them sparingly, they should last a long time. If you're looking for a perfect pair of ruby slippers, these are the shoes to choose!
I should probably point out that these shoes are also available in black, but let's face it, who's going to choose black over red?!
