      I love these boots!

Over the last few months I've developed a bit of a shoe obsession and always seem to end up on the Schuh website. Schuh are a well-known store specialising in shoes. They are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. Schuh sell own brand shoes as well as a number of well-known brands including Dr Marten, Irregular Choice and Skechers.

I originally spotted these Women's Lace Up Cosmos Calf Boots on the website last year. I really liked them but didn't buy them as I'd bought several pairs already and didn't think I could justify another! However, they eventually went into the sale and as the weeks wore on and my size was still available at the lower price, I gave in and purchased a pair.

These boots are Schuh own brand and were originally priced at £90, but I got them for £55. They are available in black and burgundy. For a change, I chose burgundy as I thought they were a bit different. They are Victorian-inspired with a lace-up style and a squared off toe. The heel is perfect - it is curvaceous and stylish, not so thick as to be clumpy but thick enough to be sturdy. At 7cm it is just the right height for me. The boots are made from leather.

Having read a review on the Schuh website stating that the boots are quite small-sized, I decided to purchase a 7 instead of a 6 and I'm glad that I did. Size 7 fits perfectly but size 6 would certainly have been too small. The boots look quite complicated to lace up but this isn't the case at all: the sturdy brown laces are already threaded through the holes and all you need to do when fastening the boots is to criss-cross the laces around the metal hooks. This way you can tighten the boots as much or as little as you like. I think someone with very big calves might have trouble getting the boots to fit, but someone with small to medium sized calves shouldn't have any difficulty. The leather is incredibly soft and the burgundy has a brown tinge around the seams. Inside the shoes, the lining is matte silver - this is rather odd, but you never see the lining anyway when you wear the shoes! On me the boots come about halfway up my calves, but I have long legs and someone with shorter legs might find they appear higher. The heel of the boot is brown, which goes well with the brown and burgundy colour scheme.

These boots are some of the most comfortable I have ever come across. From day one they felt lovely to wear and didn't rub or cause any pain at all. After walking around for the whole day, the worst I experience is a slight burning in the soles of my feet which is something that happens to me when I wear any kind of heel. The leather feels amazing and the boots keep my feet warm without being too hot.

Appearance-wise, these boots are amazing. I chose them because I wanted Victorian-style boots and they haven't disappointed. They go very well with skirts (which is all I wear - I don't wear trousers) and add a Victorian feel to any outfit. They make my legs look slim and attractive - I can't say if they would make my legs look longer, as I have long legs anyway! The heel is just the right height to look good while remaining comfortable. The boots are versatile - I wear them with tights at the moment, but as the weather gets warmer I could just as easily wear them with bare legs.

The leather feels very high quality, as does the whole boot. The heel feels sturdy and doesn't seem to be wearing down quickly. I was slightly worried at first as the sole of the boot is smooth and has no grip - I had visions of slipping over and embarrassing myself! However, I haven't had any problems at all and have always felt secure on my feet when wearing these boots - even when negotiating the minefield that is the London Underground at rush hour!

Overall, I love these boots and I can't find a single bad thing to say about them. They are stylish, comfortable, versatile, high quality and they are in the sale!

If you are interested in these boots they are still available in black and burgundy from the Schuh website at www.schuh.co.uk and possibly from Schuh stores. I'd very much appreciate it if someone could go and buy them in black, size 7 as this will remove all temptation from me!
