Advantages: Look good, cosy and warm

Disadvantages: Not overly waterproof

With winter approaching, I decided it was about time I got some appropriate footwear as last year, I caused myself a few problems with not having decent footwear so I have decided to be prepared this year. With Christmas fast approaching, I haven't got the pennies to spend on footwear so I went to our local Shoezone to see what Winter boots they had and I found these Toggle Boots on offer for the bargain price of £9.99.

These boots are available in three colours which are brown, chestnut and black, though I went for the Chestnut ones purely because I thought they would look best with skinny jeans and leggings, though it did occur to me that these would also show any dirt etc more than the others.

The main reason I purchased these was because of the price, but I was really impressed with the shoe itself too. Rather than being a bog standard plain boot, this has a little more style to it as it has two toggles on the side of the boot which give it that little bit more in terms of design. The black and brown ones have the same colour interior as they do exterior, but these chestnut ones have a cream coloured, fleecy interior which keeps your tootsies lovely and warm.

Although we haven't had much bad weather yet, I have tested these out a few times on a Saturday morning whilst watching my sons football matches and I have to say, I think these are going to be a godsend over the forthcoming winter months as normally I have to wear 2 or 3 pairs of socks under my shoes, but one decent pair of socks under these boots is sufficient enough to keep my feet lovely and cosy. My feet don't get hot and clammy in these boots, but they hold the heat nicely to keep my feet at a constant temperature and they keep the icicles away from my toes.

The only slight problem is that they aren't waterproof. These boots do have a rubber material sole which is waterproof but the actual boot itself isn't. It does take a while for water to seep through but on damp grass on a Saturday morning, I have noticed a bit of dampness creep in a couple of times which is disappointing so I would recommend these more for cold days than wet/snowy days.

The boot is a mid calf boot which is perfect and it isn't too tight so you can easily get skinny jeans etc into the boot without it feeling uncomfortable. The sole does have a decent grip on it, though I don't feel they would be fantastic in snowy conditions, but in general cold conditions, these are perfect and I know that I will be getting the wear out of these to make them excellent value for money and therefore they come with a recommendation from me.

Summary: A warm set of boots for the forthcoming winter months
