Skechers Bikers Dreamy
Advantages: Comfy, Reasonable Price, Long lasting
Skechers came about in 1992 and have since become one of the markets leading brands for footwear. I personally have only owned sketchers trainers and have never opted for their boots or shoes, but I can honestly say their trainers are very comfortable.
One of the best things about the brand is that when they produce a range they offer a selection of colours and style which are all in keeping with the current fashion. The "Bikers" range has lots of variations, but the one I am reviewing the "Dreamy" product in black.
The pump/trainer on first appearance looks soft and comfortable. The material has a leather/textile upper finished in suede, whilst the sides are covered in satin material carrying a design. The soles are rubber, but I will go through each of the parts in turn.
The main shape of the pump is made of this leather with a suede feel. This parts form the structure which means that the pump keeps its shape and doesn't collapse like some tend to do. They are quite low on the foot, so no high backs, which is comfortable but makes it difficult to wear with socks. Having said that the material is soft and doesn't rub or cause blisters.
The front of the pump is cut so that there is a squashed horseshoe shape. This is held close together by a Velcro strap, allowing those with wider/thinner feet to adjust to fit. The top of the strap has the Skechers brand printed on it.
The sides of these pumps have a beautiful satin material on them with an embroidered floral design. The flowers are dull in colour but are attractive to the eye. They do not immediately jump out as the subtle colours, silvers, dusky pinks and gold just catch the eye in the light.
The soles are quite sturdy yet relatively thin in comparison to most trainers. The rubber has a grid effect which supports the body when being walked on. If you are walking over rough ground or rubble you can feel the stones under your feet, which isn't that comfortable but then you really wouldn't choose this sort of footwear for that sort of activity.
The internal sole looks just like the insoles you can buy in the shop, but it has the same floral design against black material in keeping with the rest of the pump.
I really like these shoes, they have so far lasted me 3 years and are extremely comfortable. They are soft and adaptable to the foot, never give me blisters and can be worn indoors if you choose to. The look good with jeans or combat, but do not really suit socks unless they are black and your trousers cover them.
The "Dreamy" range also comes in cream, white and brown with the design staying the same. For me black was more practical. I think I paid approximately £39.99 from Schuh 3 years ago, but other high-street retailers do now stock Skechers and the brand is widely available online.
