~ THE BOOTS ~
During the colder months, I wanted some boots which would look great with jeans and would keep my feet/legs warm. I can't really afford Ugg boots and wanted something different so I began my search. I love the Skechers brand and currently have Skechers trainers which are really comfortable and good quality. I happened to walk past a Barratts store and saw these boots in the shop. I had a quick look at them and loved the way they looked and how soft they were. I was waiting for pay day at this time, so I thought I would wait a week or so and then look on the Barratts website. Sure enough the boots were luckily on here so I purchased the Chestnut pair. I often buy black shoes/boots so I thought I would go for a different colour, plus I preferred the look of the chestnut colour more than the others colours that were available. I ordered the boots and they came in a large Skechers box covered with some tissue. In the box was a pair of laces which were sealed in a small bag and there was scrunched up paper tucked in the bottom of the boots to protect them from getting flattened/squashed.
The boots are made by Skechers and come in three different colours which includes Chestnut, Charcoal, and Chocolate & Black. The main material the boots are made from is suede, with a faux fur trim. The sole material is Synthetic. The main thing you notice about the boots is the lace up's which go all the way from the bottom to the top of the boots. The laces match the colour of the boots, so are a yellowish colour. There is a zip on the side of the boots, which makes getting the boots on and off really easily. The boots are flat and don't have a heel which makes them perfect for wearing casually with jeans or leggings. The suede to the boots is very soft and the fur trim gives the boots a warm, winter look. The boots came already laced up and in the box was a spare pair of laces. The pair of laces which were already laced in the boots was plain; how-ever you could change these to laces with a pattern on. The sole of the boots is a very dark grey/black in colour. At the back on the sole it has Skechers etched into the actual sole itself. On the bottom of the sole, where you walk it has Skechers Original on it.
The boots have the following features:
* Suede with faux fur trim
* Lace detail with side zip fastening
* Product Name: Grand Jams Unltd
* Colour: Chestnut
* Heel Height: Flat Heel
* Sole Material: Synthetic
* Footwear Type: Mid High Boots
~ WEARING THE BOOTS ~
The first time I wore the boots was with some skinny jeans. I put my feet inside the boots easily and the first thing I noticed was how soft the inside of the boot was. It felt like my foot was nestled in a lovely warm, fluffy blanket. The boots were easy to do up using the zip on the side and then tightening and tying the laces so they were comfortable to wear. The boots has quite a large lip which sits under-neath the lace part of the boots. You will find that this may stick out at the top a little, but I didn't mind and thought the boots looked just fine. The boots are Mid-high and come up about 2-3 inches under my knee. As the jeans I was wearing were tight I didn't have any problems with doing the boots up over the jeans. The boots looked great with the jeans and I loved the fact that they were so different to Ugg boots which everyone seems to wear. As I left the flat with my boots on it felt as though I was walking with a spring in my step. The boots were so comfortable and warm and also felt a little springy as well. I wore the boots to town and even after walking round in them for a few hours, I had no blisters or rub marks which was great. The boots also look great with a pair of black leggings, and have worn leggings with the boots many times. The boots
Although we had a small amount of snow this year I didn't want to wear these out in the snow in fear of them getting ruined or filthy. I have worn them in the colder weather and have also worn them when it's been raining. I did use a suede protector on the boots before wearing them which gives them a waterproof like coating to protect them. If I hadn't of used this I think the boots would probably be slightly dirty by now. The boots have a very good grip on them, this was tested when walking into my local shopping centre after being out in the rain and my boots didn't slip on the shiny floor at all. I have been in the shopping centre many times when the floor has been slightly wet and often find my shoes/other boots slip causing me to look as though I'm doing the moon walk!!
~ PRICE/AVALIABILITY ~
I purchased the boots from www.barratts.com. On here they stock all the colours; how-ever they don't have many sizes left in the boots, due to the fact that they were reduced in price.
For some reason some of the boots are different prices.
Chestnut, Chocolate & Black - £65.00
Charcoal - £55
All the boots were originally £70, so although you are only getting £5 off some of the colours, least it saves you a little bit of money!
I haven't seen the boots anywhere else to buy, as I think they are an old design, how-ever you may find them on eBay.
~ OVERALL OPINION ~
This is my most favourite pair of boots that I own. They are really, really comfortable and look great when wearing them casually to town or down to the local pub. As I have the chestnut pair I wouldn't buy another pair of the boots, how-ever tempting it may be. Although the boots cost me £65, without postage costs, I didn't mind paying this as I know Skechers are a well know and good quality brand who make very good foot wear. I'm glad these don't look anything like Ugg boots as I like to look different to other people, and I wouldn't even consider paying £100 or over on a pair of Ugg boots as I think they are too plain and boring for my liking. When down my local pub a few people have asked where I got my boots from as they have really liked them. If I hadn't of used some suede protector spray on the boots I don't think they would have stayed looking as new as they do now. I give the boots 5 out of 5 stars as they are comfortable, look great and are cheaper than Ugg boots. If you do happen to buy these boots or are thinking about it, I would defiantly suggest getting some of the shoe protector spray to help keep your boots looking clean and new.
