these boots are seriously comfortable as well as stylish. They are meant to help tone up your bum and legs while you walk, which sounds like a wonderful marketing idea for boots, however im not completely sure they do this any more than walking in normal boots, as walking in general tends to tone, and i do a lot of walking, so for myself, i feel unconvinced by this, but i have a friend who swears they really work.... But really the tone up part is an insignificant extra with these boots anyway, you can pick these up for about £30 if you shop around on the internet, and since they are very similar to ugg boots, this is a huge bargain as uggs would set you back over a hundred, so if you were wanting a cheap alternative these are ideal. They seem to go with just about anything, and keep your feet so warm in the winter! i think you will find it very difficult to find a more comfortable, versatile and warm pair of boots which are also this super stylish! ive had these for over 6 months now and wear them all the time, and there is still very little in the way of signs of ware, so these boots on top of everything else brilliant about them, seem to be made to a very good quality, they will last you all through the winter, a brilliant buy. The only downside is i found a few months in, despite not seeming damaged, the boots did leak a little water, so i would advice to avoid wearing in the very rainy weather and opt for wellies instead, but apart from that i cant fault these boots, i recommend them highly.
I like shoes, and boots, and over the years have owned many pairs. Never in my life have I owned any as comfortable or as versatile as these. Being a bit if a cheap skate at heart I could never justify the price tag of uggs or similar and yet longed for the comfort they offered. I purchased these of the m and m direct website for £24.95 about 18 months ago. They looked comfy (obviously with Internet shopping I couldn't try them on) and I had vague recollections of owning some sketchers trainers as a teenager and them lasting forever. They arrived a few days later and I have literally lived in them ever since.
With a think flat rubber sole, suede type material as the main boot and a fake fur inner they are lovely to look at. The buttons on the side open up so that the tops of the boots can be folded down to show the fur inside. A deep chocolate brown colour makes them so versatile. Starting from the bottom the grip they offer is fantastic. With the extremely icy weather we get in this country I always feel safe in these boots. The tread on them is nice and deep
and clings to the road. The boot itself is plain apart from the small sketchers logo at the back and the buttons. A small amount if darker stitching give them a nice defined look. The faux fur inside is lovely and soft. I can
honestly say when you put these on it's like your out and about in your most comfortable slippers. These boots have been worn by me in rain, snow, ice and the rarity of sunshine. They dry out brilliantly when wet (I put them
in the airing cupboard).
As a fashion item they can be worn with pretty much anything. I where them with jeans as a day to day item, with leggings and dresses for a dressed down evening and I've even been known to wear them mid summer when my trusty flipflops went missing. Only now 18 months on (after heavy use!) have the toes started to pull away from the soles. I will without a doubt be purchasing another pair, one if the great things about these boots is they are as comfortable the first time you wear them as the last. No wearing them in as is required with leather products. Fantastic price, fantastic product.
So i'll be honest originally i wanted ugg boots, but when i seen these in the sale for £40 i couldn't resist plus the name tone ups made me wonder. I have the exact same pair as shown in the picture above they are the most comfy shoes/boots i own and i will defiantly be buying some more.
Tone Ups are designed to tone your legs and bum as you walk, they target muscles that we don't normally use and strengthen them up, I've had my boots for a few weeks now and I have already noticed a massive difference!!!
The sole of the shoe is very thick and provides extreme comfort it feels like your walking on clouds, and it really improves your posture which it is designed to do. The first time i wore these i noticed a bruise on the side of my right ankle, however the shoe was not rubbing my foot and i had no sores, i have put this bruise down to be nearly braking my ankle two years ago and i don't think it has healed welled, and now i am using these boots it is forcing my ankle to walk in a proper manner which is brilliant i am hoping it will strengthen my ankles too.
Although the boot looks chunky once they are on your feet they look fantastic and go really well with tights, leggings and jeans all of which I have tried out.
There are three colours available black, brown and light brown. They are all lovely colours but because i am known to not watch were I am walking and end up walking in muddy puddles I choose the dark brown pair. They are also very water prof and made of sheep skin. The inside of the shoe is sheep skin and very soft and easy to clean with a damp cloth. The Sketchers have sketchers written on the bottom and have a Tone up label on the bottom back of the shoe, these particular pair come with two buttons for show on the side.
If you pay full price for these it will cost you £55 way cheap than UGG's and move beneficial for you legs and bums too!!!
After recently buying my daughter some really good quality but cheap ugg type boots, and her living in them I really fancied the idea of getting myself some.
After realising I was never going to be able to afford actual Ugg boots, and with the weather getting colder quite quickly, I decided to just get some boots rather than look for the brand, hence this review!
The boots I will now review are - "Skechers tone up chalet boots - chocolate".
I have to say that if these had been available in black at the time of ordering, I would have had those (my husband insists I am under the impression that I am a wannabe goth, dressed usually from head to foot in black!), this said the chocolate boots are beautiful looking, and still go with all of my clothes.
These boots are described as "high" boots, with them being between the length of ankle and knee, sitting ¾ of the way up my leg, though on someone shorter these would be at the knee.
They are made from a brown suede like material, but much more hard wearing, with me having worn these almost daily since buying them, and they haven't got any discernable marks to speak of!
There are a few decorative additions on the boot itself, these being the two buttons on the outer side of the boot, and though these are working buttons I have yet felt the need to undo them, finding it just as easy to slip on over my skinny jeans or leggings, though if you like the slouchy style of boot you could undo the buttons and fold them down.
Also at the back there is a small panel with the Skechers trademark in, the buttons have also got the trademark on them, but this is in no way over the top, I can't stand to see an obviously expensive or good quality article of clothing or shoes, with the name emblazoned across them, it detracts from the garment in question, but that is just my opinion anyway!
The inside of the boots are in my mind perfection, with the inner layer being made from really soft and quite thick fur material, also in the corresponding brown, but making these boots feel more like slippers than anything else.
The biggest draw with these is the obvious fact that hey are "tone up" boots, these are multi functional boots that not only provide good footwear but also the added bonus of toning muscles, well that's the theory anyway!
The sole of the boot is slightly wedged on the heel end, though only very slightly, I can only assume that these work the muscle in the legs, particularly the calf muscles when walking, I have to say when I am walking quite quickly I do feel the strain in my legs, but I don't think anymore than I do in normal boots, though this was not the only reason I bought the boot so I don't feel disappointed.
The tread in the sole id quite deep, with it really having a good grip when walking in wet weather (the boots are not water proof, but don't get spoiled when wet, just make sure you dry them out well), and making walking in all the wet and at times slimy leaves that seem to litter the streets at this time of the year, though until the snow comes (soon apparently!), I cannot comment on the effectiveness.
Price wise these range from £40.00 upwards, which is a real saving on the Ugg boots my hubby wanted to buy me in York a few months ago (£130!), and in my humble opinion are much comfier too, whenever I see someone wearing Ugg boots that have obviously been owned for a while, the sole seems to be deteriorating on one side making the boot lopsided, that just couldn't happen with these boots, due to how substantial the sole of the boot is.
