A couple of years ago I bought a pair of Fit Flops which I have practically lived in ever since. As a consequence, they have become quite worn and slack around my feet and are probably not delivering the same work out benefits that they once did. I was going to buy another pair until, while browsing on Amazon, I came across Skechers Women's Tone Ups which I thought were quite attractive and seemed to be offering the same benefits as Fit Flops. There are lots of different types of Skechers Tone Ups but I went for the Glam Girl Mule. At the moment, there seem to be a choice of black or blue and the price is £24 (August 2011) which is discounted from the RRP of £36. This puts them in the same sort of price range as Fit Flops but at the discounted price I thought that it was very good value. I think that these are slightly more attractive than my Fit Flops as they have a studded strap thong which is quite pretty. I bought the blue ones that have a white rubber sole. These look more light and airy than the black ones which also have a black sole but, as I have discovered to my dismay, they do get quite grubby on the inside. The Tone Ups are designed to have a number of positive effects. These include helping you to burn more calories, tone your muscles and improve your posture. This is because, as is stated in their advertising, Tone Ups 'feature a unique gradual density midsole that is designed to help stimulate underused thigh, calf and gluteous muscles when worn regularly'. They also state that they are ideal for women of all ages. It is always very hard to recognise exactly what effect these are having on the above, especially as I don't think that just wearing these will have that much impact, so as far as burning calories is concerned, I also try not to overeat and to exercise regularly. But as they say, 'every little helps' and I firmly believe that wearing this type of mule, can help improve my overall shape and posture. They are also very comfortable but it is recommended to not wear them too much to start with. As I had already been wearing Fit Flops I did not have too much trouble but you certainly notice more of a spring in your step as you walk. I had these a couple of months before I went on holiday and wore them in gradually and then wore them pretty much every day in California where we were traipsing around zoos, theme parks and so on. Therefore I was on my feet a lot and. Although it was tiring, my feet did not seem to experience the usual weariness that I get in some other shoes. I was really pleased about this and also felt that they might be doing me some good too. Also, after so much walking, there really is no wear and tear at all! In fact they look as smart as the day I bought them - even the white soles once I have cleaned them! They are a fabulous buy and it is such a shame that we are heading towards winter and I probably won't be able to wear them so much. I will certainly make the most of them over the next few weeks before I have to start wearing my winter boots. I definitely recommend them and if you can get them on Amazon for £24, like I did, you will get very good value for money.
