Advantages: Look great, comfy, fits well in the leg
Disadvantages: Shoes bigger than they first seem
I've been looking for the perfect pair of over knee boots for ages now but its hard to find a style I like that actually fits correctly, and some of them just look downright weird. When I saw these South 'Buffy' Over Knee Platform Boots on the Very website I thought they looked pretty good so I decided to order them. They cost £52 which when thinking about all the other over knee boots I've looked at and tried seemed like a very reasonable price.
The Boots come in one colour option which is black, and they're available in sizes 3 to 9. I normally wear a size 5 so that's what I ordered and when I tried them on they seemed to fit fine so I was happy that was the size I needed. They're a suede look material so I immediately bought and applied some protector spray so that they wouldn't end up with water or salt marks like this kind of material does when exposed to the rain.
The boots have a very sleek and sexy look which is exactly what I wanted in an over knee boot. They have a 4.5inch slim heel which may sound quite daunting but they also have a platform of about an inch so they don't feel that high. They are a pull-on style of boot and because they're quite slim and fitted in the leg they can feel quite difficult to get on, and it does take a while to get used to pulling them on.
One of the problems I normally have with knee high and over knee boots is that whilst I'm only a size 10 my legs, and my calves in particular, are quite muscular and larger than you would really expect of someone of my size, so usually I find the boots either won't zip up or they feel really tight around my calves. These ones are the first I've found that actually fit perfectly all the way up my leg, which I think is because they're a less rigid material and a pull-on style with a little stretch in it. They don't feel tight at all but they also don't feel like they're falling down, they stay up well even if I wear them all day. They also have a small slit down the back of each of the thighs, with elasticated fasteners across it so that if your thighs are a little larger they will stretch to accommodate. They also actually do come up above my knee, unlike a lot of other so called over knee boots. I'm only 5'6" though so if you're tall they might not be long enough.
The boots felt really comfortable when trying them on and walking around the house in them, but as soon as I stepped outside in them the shoe part felt quite loose which made me feel quite unstable in them, but this is easily fixed by wearing a pair of thick socks with them. The boots look so good that I'm willing to put up with having to wear thick socks every time I wear them! Once you've got that sorted they are actually very comfortable to wear and easy to walk in. They don't hurt my feet at all and I've never had any blisters from them.
These boots look really great with a short skirt or shorts, and although they do have a very sexy vibe you can tone that feel down a bit depending on what you wear with them so you don't always have to have the out-and-out sexy look. They're worn really well so far with no signs of wear and tear, and I've worn them a fair few times already both during the day and on nights out. They also come with a spare pair of heel-tips so if they wear down you can just replace them.
