“ Brand: Ted Baker / Gender: Women „
Mark bought me these gorgeous Ted Baker shoes for my birthday in May, he has got to have had some help in choosing them because no way would he have picked out such a quirkily right pair on his own!
These are just a lovely pair of shoes, and they definitely are shoes even though the shape of them is more boot-y. They are made up of lots of thin gold leather strands, held together only at the sole and by a thicker strap of the same gold leather which travels up the length of the front of the shoe. The back of the heel is rigidly held together by using a shaped piece of gold leather, over which more of the thinner strands are arranged to give an attractive and very unusual appearance.
These are actually classed as Gladiator sandals, but personally other than the fact that they are not made of solid leather I dont understand why they would have this label. I love the cut out part around my ankle, this gives them a sexy and unusual look and brings them up to trend as they resemble those 'cuff boots' which everyone seems to be wearing at the moment. I'm not keen on cutaway cuff boots but the delicate design of these seems to suit the style much better.
The peeptoe is perfect in my opinion, showing just a hint of toe and making these shoes ideal for when I haven't got the time (or just can't be bothered!) to fully paint my toenails. And no, I'm not lazy, it's just that toenail painting isn't as easy as it sounds at seven months pregnant!
These shoes are incredibly comfortable and easy to walk in, the zip which runs up the back keeps the shoe nicely snug on my feet and that helps to balance out the high 4 inch heel. I personally think they would be impossible to walk in if it wasn't for this zip as the strands of leather wouldn't hold the shoes together enough as I walked. The insole is padded nicely which gives a cushioned effect as I walk, when I first saw the shoes I was a bit concerned that the insole was the same gold colour as the actual shoe. This makes the soles look very thin and hard, but this isn't the case at all and there's something about these shoes which makes them far more comfortable than they look.
As far as I can see these gorgeous shoes come in just three sizes, from a size 4 to a size 7. The pair I have are a size 4 and they fit perfectly, so I'd say the sizes are just right compared to other shoes I own. The shoes aren't the easiest to team with clothing as the gold colour doesn't match many other colours, and the style is also quite awkward I think. If in doubt just go for a pair of skinny jeans, I'd say they'd compliment a smart dress but the cuff of the boot is quite wide which can look a bit flappy against bare legs so this would only be suitable if you have chunkier calves than me.
