The Simpsons Men's Homer Head Novelty Slipper
Advantages: Easy to slip on and off, nice novelty factor, look good, stay clean, comfortable, soft.
Disadvantages: Can be slippery on laminated or polished wood floors.
Let me start this review by saying that these slippers were not bought for me but my husband. He never wore them because he is not really a slipper man and when I managed to rip the back of my favourite La Senza slippers I started wearing these out of desperation as my feet were cold and I had nothing else clean. These were a gift to my husband one year from one of his sisters and just because he isn't a slipper man really they've been on the shoe rack for the last 2 years getting basically no use.
These slippers are the head of Homer Simpson. They are oversized novelty slippers with two 'hairs' stitched on the top of Homers head, his familiar 'beard' area which is just a beige/brown colour and his large eyes which don't have any eyebrows or eyelashes and just a black dot for a pupil. When you put your foot in these slippers you are actually putting your foot in Homer's mouth and I just love the novelty of these slippers as well as the warmth of course, particularly on these long, cold, dark nights.
These slippers are very comfortable because they are made with a lovely soft filling which really should be compulsory for slippers shouldn't it! There is a cotton fabric padding to the inside of Homer making him lovely and accommodating and these slippers literally do slip on with ease. The hole to put my feet through is ample so I do not have to squeeze my feet in each slipper and they do not feel restricted or tight in the slipper. There is plenty of movement for my feet if I want to but these slippers stay on with ease and they do not slip down in a dangerous manner that other slippers have done in the past, including the La Senza ones that I managed to rip when I moved on to wearing these. The padding underneath my feet has become a little flat on these slippers but nothing that makes them uncomfortable or unsafe to wear and it is just what I would expect after using them regularly for several months now. They have only gone a little flat so they definitely have lots more use in them yet. The underneath of these slippers is black and has lots of little bobbly bits all over them, as they have done since new, I don't know if this is supposed to be of some benefit to these slippers but it does mean that if I'm not careful and zip around my home I can slide around on the wooden floors so I have to take care when wearing these but then I've found that with lots of slippers in the past so its not really a problem for me.
These slippers are only ideal for the cooler months of the year as during Summer they are a little too thick and you would be better to wear some slipper socks or something else around the house if you need anything at all. These are quite oversized and while I have size 8 feet they are quite wide in general and it can feel a little unusual when you first get used to wearing these, however once they're on your feet for a little while you will soon forget that you've got these on and then make yourself jump with the bright yellowness of these.
These slippers really are ideal for lounging around in. They kept my feet lovely and warm when I wear them and they have been long lasting so far. A pair of these is available for around £16.00 and numerous sizes are available with Amazon selling 6,8 and 10 UK at present. The ones that I have are a size 10 as they were bought for my husband (and I'm now realising that perhaps he doesn't wear them because they are too small for him!) and while I normally wear a 7.5-8 they fit me quite well even though there is a nice amount of room left at the toes. These are simple to slip on and off and they are functional and comfortable. I am rating these 4 out of 5 stars because they are slippery when walking around my home and I know that for some people that would be a very big deal. I would definitely recommend these as a novelty gift this Christmas for any big kids and my husband loved them but he just isn't a slipper man which is probably why he never let me throw them away when having a big clear out of our shoes recently. I wear these from time to time and they are snug and comfortable and keep my feet lovely and warm through the Winter months.
Summary: A fantastic pair of novelty slippers!
