Disadvantages: Sole is too thin
These may have a good reputation for being ethical in terms of proving shoes to children in need when you purchase your own pair and they are comfortable, but overall as a pait of shoes I just do not get them, they are more like slippers.
My sister bought me a pair of Toms in Blue as a summer present, she had been wearing them and kept saying how great they were and decided I needed to see for myself. Now they are made from canvas and have a man made soft sole and soft inner, they slip on and off easily and are very flexible.
Overall, although I find them comfortable to wear, I have taken to only wearing them inside the house as slippers, as the sole is very thin, so you can feel stones through them, they offer little support for your foot and well, I think they look rather daft to be honest. I wear a variety of different foot wear, from flat to heels, and these just do not do anything for me.
They are also expensive at around £34.99, though I'm sure if you shopped around you could pick them up cheaper, plus as they are canvas they are not water proof, so during the British summer time they will probably get wet rather a lot, and they take an ages to dry out and if they are wet when you are out and about the can rub on your feet until they dry. I would not recommend these to others, though they seem to be very popular, as I believe there are better shoes on the market that are less expensive and more stylish.
Summary: Good as slippers, not shoes
