Toms Classic Shoes
Member Name: rji0907
Advantages: Comfortable, well made
Disadvantages: The price
Being quite short, and having a problem with a certain bone in my foot, I have never really been a fan of flat shoes, as I like heels to add a bit of height to me and also flat shoes put added pressure on the bone in my foot which I have a problem with so generally I can't walk very far in flats without feeling some quite severe pain in my foot.
However, when 'Toms' first came out, I really liked the look of them but decided the pain wasn't worth it. However as everybody around me was purchasing Toms, eventually I had to give in and get myself a pair. I had been advised from friends that these were really comfortable and quite cushioned so I was hoping they wouldn't aggravate my foot problem.
Toms are a canvas style slip on shoe. This isn't an open toed shoe as the front part of your foot is entirely covered. These are a slip on style shoe as there are no kinds of fastenings or laces, it does have a back to it which covers the entire heel area.
The back comes quite high and actually rubbed the top part of my heel when I first purchased these as the canvas material is quite harsh, but due to the quality of the material, they soon wore in and as expected, they really were rather comfortable.
I wasn't sure how I would get on with wearing these in the summer, as I thought that with them not being open toed, they might make my feet hot, sweaty and clammy but that wasn't the case at all. I tend to wear open toed shoes in really hot weather but these are perfect for warm, but not hot days. They actually keep your feet really cool which is nice and as I hate having cold toes, I get the best of both worlds with these shoes as they keep my toes warm, but the canvas material is actually quite cooling so my feet don't get too hot in them either!
I have been really impressed with the quality of these shoes. They have a really cushioned sole which makes them extremely comfortable to wear and you actually feel your feet are really well protected, which you don't get with other flats such as ballet pumps which have such a thin sole, you almost feel like you are walking on bare concrete.
I really like the look of these shoes too. They are definitely on-trend and go well with most outfits, but they have a certain nostalgia about them too which I love and unlike many trends that come and go, I can see Toms lasting as not only do they look good, but they are also good quality and comfortable too.
Although when I do walk far in these, I do still get the pain in my foot, that is more about my feet than the shoes.
Overall, although I don't generally like flat shoes, I really like these. They are well made, look good, are versatile as they go with many outfits and are really comfortable and cushioned. The price is the only bugbear of these shoes really but then you pay for what you get and if you want a good pair of shoes that will last then you have to pay for the privilege so these shoes come with a recommendation from me.
Summary: A good pair of shoes to go with many outfits
